Abstract

To provide an image capture apparatus and a control method thereof capable of preventing reduction in usability due to a cleaning operation of an image element.SOLUTION: An image capture apparatus is capable of performing sensor cleaning for removing foreign matter on an image capture surface of an imaging element. The image capture apparatus, when detecting occurrence of an event that causes turning off power, determines whether the event is a restart event or not. The image capture apparatus executes, when the event is the restart event, restart processing without executing sensor cleaning during power-off even if the apparatus is configured to automatically execute sensor cleaning during power-off. The image capture apparatus executes, when the event is not the restart event, sensor cleaning during power-off in accordance with the settings.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
