[0048] Hereinafter, the embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. The embodiments may be implemented in many different forms. As can be easily understood by those skilled in the art, the manner and content may be converted into one or more forms without departing from the spirit and scope of the present disclosure. Therefore, the present disclosure should not be construed as being limited only to the description of the following embodiments. If there is no conflict, the embodiments and features of the embodiments of the present disclosure may be combined with each other.
[0049] In the drawings, the size, thickness or area of one or more components may be enlarged for clarity. In addition, the drawings are schematic illustrations of ideal examples, and one embodiment of the present disclosure is not limited to the shapes or numerical values shown in the drawings.
[0050] In this disclosure, ordinal numbers such as "first," "second," and "third" are used to avoid confusion of components and are not intended to be limiting in terms of quantity. In this disclosure, the term "plurality" refers to a quantity of two or more.
[0051] In this disclosure, for convenience, the positions of components are described with reference to the drawings using terms indicating orientation or positional relationship such as "middle", "upper", "lower", "front", "rear", "vertical", "horizontal", "top", "bottom", "inside", "outside", etc. However, this is for the purpose of explaining and simplifying the present specification, and is not intended to indicate or suggest that the described device or element has a specific orientation and must be configured and operated in a specific orientation. Therefore, it is not intended to limit the present disclosure. The positional relationship of the components is appropriately changed depending on the direction in which the components are described. Therefore, it is not limited to the terms described in the specification, and may be appropriately changed in some cases.
[0052] In this disclosure, unless otherwise specified and limited, the terms "attach", "connect", and "connect" should be understood in a broad sense. For example, it may be a fixed connection, a removable connection, or an integral connection. It may be a mechanical connection or an electrical connection. It may be a direct connection, an indirect connection via a linker, or an internal communication between two elements. Those skilled in the art can understand the meaning of the above terms in this disclosure according to the specific situation. "Electrical connection" includes cases where components are connected through an element having a certain electrical action. "Elements having a certain electrical action" are not particularly limited, and may be capable of transmitting an electrical signal between the components to be connected. Examples of "elements having a certain electrical action" include not only electrodes and wiring, but also switching elements such as transistors, resistors, inductors, capacitors, and elements having one or more other functions.
[0053] In this disclosure, "parallel" refers to a state in which the angle between two straight lines is between -10° and 10°, and may include a state in which the angle is between -5° and 5°, and "perpendicular" refers to a state in which the angle between two straight lines is between 80° and 100°, and may include a state in which the angle is between 85° and 95°.
[0054] In this disclosure, the terms "film" and "layer" are interchangeable. For example, a "conductive layer" may be changed to a "conductive film." Similarly, an "insulating film" may be changed to an "insulating layer."
[0055] In this disclosure, the terms "about" and "approximately" refer to situations where the boundaries are not precisely defined but rather allow for process and measurement error margins.
[0056] At least one embodiment of the present disclosure provides a light emitting substrate, comprising a base substrate, a retaining wall disposed on the base substrate, and a plurality of light emitting diodes, the retaining wall dividing a plurality of compartments in the base substrate, and at least one of the compartments is provided with at least one light emitting diode.
[0057] The light emitting substrate according to this embodiment divides a plurality of sections on a base substrate by supporting walls, and divides and isolates a plurality of light emitting diodes, thereby reducing light crosstalk between the sections, reducing the halo phenomenon, and achieving a suitable uniform light effect.
[0058] In some exemplary embodiments, the light emitting diode may be a micro light emitting diode (LED). The micro LED may include a micro type light emitting diode (Micro LED, Micro Light Emitting Diode) and a mini light emitting diode (Mini LED, Mini Light Emitting Diode). However, this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0059] In some exemplary embodiments, the light-emitting substrate according to the present embodiment may be used as a backlight for a display device. For example, when the light-emitting diode is a micro LED, the micro LED has the advantages of small size and high brightness, so that the screen contrast ratio of a display product using a micro LED backlight can reach the level of an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display product, allowing the product to maintain the technical advantages of a liquid crystal display (LCD), and further improve the display effect of the screen, providing users with a better visual experience.
[0060] In some exemplary embodiments, the area of the cross section of the holding wall parallel to the plane on which the base substrate is located is larger than the area of the cross section of the holding wall that is closer to the base substrate. In this example, the area of the cross section of the holding wall parallel to the plane on which the base substrate is located may be gradually reduced along the direction away from the base substrate. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0061] In some exemplary embodiments, the material of the retaining wall may include a light-reflecting material. For example, the material of the retaining wall may be a white glue with a reflectivity of 95% or more. By manufacturing the retaining wall with a material with high reflectivity, the light utilization efficiency of the light-emitting substrate can be improved. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0062] In some exemplary embodiments, the retaining wall may include at least one of a plurality of elongated structures extending along a horizontal direction and a plurality of elongated structures extending along a vertical direction. In some examples, the plurality of elongated structures extending along a horizontal direction and the plurality of elongated structures extending along a vertical direction may be integrally connected to form a continuous structure, or the elongated structures extending along different directions may not be continuous. This embodiment is not so limited.
[0063] In some exemplary embodiments, the retaining wall is a mesh structure, and the mesh structure includes at least one grid. At least one grid may surround at least one light emitting diode. For example, at least one grid surrounds a plurality of adjacent light emitting diodes. For example, each grid may surround four light emitting diodes arranged like a matrix. Or, the number of light emitting diodes surrounded by different grids may be different. In this example, one grid may be one section. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto. For example, the retaining wall may include a plurality of discontinuous elongated structures.
[0064] In some exemplary embodiments, the center lines of the light emitting surfaces of two adjacent light emitting diodes may lie in a first plane, and the first plane may be perpendicular to the plane in which the base substrate is located. In some examples, a retaining wall extending along a single direction is provided between the two adjacent light emitting diodes. In some examples, the light emitting surface of one light emitting diode may be a plane passing through the geometric center of the light emitting diode and a normal to the plane in which the base substrate is located. The center line of the light emitting surface of any light emitting diode passes through the geometric center of the light emitting diode and is perpendicular to the plane in which the base substrate is located. A direction parallel to the first plane and intersecting the center lines of the light emitting surfaces of the light emitting diodes may be a first direction, for example, the first direction is located in the first plane and parallel to the plane in which the base substrate is located. A direction parallel to the first plane and intersecting the first direction may be a second direction, for example, the second direction is located in the first plane and perpendicular to the first direction. In some examples, the first direction and the second direction are both located in a first plane, the second direction may be parallel to the center line of the light emitting surface of the light emitting diode, and the first direction is perpendicular to the center line of the light emitting surface of the light emitting diode, although this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0065] In some exemplary embodiments, in the first plane, the ratio of the distance between adjacent edges of two adjacent light emitting diodes in the first direction to the maximum length of the retaining wall in the first direction is about 4.0 to 5.5, and may be, for example, about 4.5. In this example, the maximum length of the retaining wall in the first direction is the length of the orthogonal projection of the retaining wall extending along a single direction between the two adjacent light emitting diodes on the base substrate in the first plane. The first plane is perpendicular to the plane in which the base substrate is located and passes through the center lines of the light emitting surfaces of the two adjacent light emitting diodes, and the retaining wall extending along the single direction is installed between the two adjacent light emitting diodes. The first direction is parallel to the first plane and intersects with the center lines of the light emitting surfaces of the light emitting diodes. For example, the first direction is perpendicular to the center lines of the light emitting surfaces of the light emitting diodes.
[0066] In some exemplary embodiments, in the first plane, the ratio of the maximum length of the retaining wall in the second direction to the maximum length of the retaining wall in the first direction is about 0.5 to 0.8, e.g., about 0.625. The second direction is parallel to the first plane and intersects with the first direction. For example, the second direction is perpendicular to the first direction.
[0067] In some exemplary embodiments, the light-emitting substrate may further include a light-transmitting protective layer, which covers the light-emitting diodes. In this example, the light-transmitting protective layer covers the light-emitting diodes to provide protection and packaging for the light-emitting diodes.
[0068] In some exemplary embodiments, the thickness of the transparent protective layer corresponding to the geometric center of each section is greater than the thickness of the transparent protective layer corresponding to other regions. For example, in a plurality of sections defined by a retaining wall, the transparent protective layer is fabricated by dropping transparent silica gel in each section and then performing leveling and curing. Because the transparent silica gel is an organic material and adopts a dropping method, the final thickness of the transparent protective layer at the dropping position (generally at the geometric center of the section) is usually a little larger than other positions.
[0069] In some exemplary embodiments, the light-transmitting protective layer has a first surface away from the base substrate, and the first surface has a plurality of concave structures. In this example, by forming a plurality of concave structures on the first surface of the light-transmitting protective layer, the light path from the light-emitting diode can be changed to improve the effect of uniform light.
[0070] In some exemplary embodiments, the multiple concave structures correspond one-to-one to each of the multiple light-emitting diodes, and an orthogonal projection of one concave structure on the base substrate includes an orthogonal projection of one light-emitting diode on the base substrate.
[0071] In some exemplary embodiments, the shape of the concave structure is hemispherical, and the center of the light-emitting surface of the light-emitting diode is located on the central axis of the hemisphere. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto. For example, there may be a deviation between the center of the light-emitting surface of the light-emitting diode and the central axis of the hemisphere.
[0072] In some exemplary embodiments, the orthogonal projection of the light-transmitting protective layer on the base substrate and the orthogonal projection of the retaining wall on the base substrate partially overlap, although this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0073] In some exemplary embodiments, the maximum thickness of the light-transmitting protective layer may be equal to or less than the maximum thickness of the retaining wall, and the thickness is the distance between the surface away from the base substrate and the surface close to the base substrate. There may be a height difference between the maximum thickness of the light-transmitting protective layer at the section and the maximum thickness of the retaining wall.
[0074] In some exemplary embodiments, the light-emitting substrate may further include a diffusion film, a color conversion film and a brightness enhancement film, which are sequentially disposed on the light-transmitting protective layer along the side away from the base substrate, although this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0075] In some exemplary embodiments, the light-emitting substrate may further include a light-reflecting layer and a pad pin disposed on the base substrate. The light-reflecting layer is located on the side of the holding wall close to the base substrate, and the light-reflecting layer exposes at least a portion of the pad pin. The pad pin is connected to the light-emitting diode. In some exemplary embodiments, the light-reflecting layer may expose the entire pad pin or a portion of the pad pin, as long as the electrical connection between the light-emitting diode and the pad pin can be realized. Thus, the driving circuit disposed on the base substrate can be electrically connected to the light-emitting diode through the pad pin to realize the driving of the light-emitting element to emit light.
[0076] In some examples, the material of the light reflective layer may include white ink, which may be, for example, a heat curable ink or a light curable ink, although the present embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0077] In some exemplary embodiments, there is a spacing between the edge of the light-reflective layer and the edge of the adjacent light-emitting diode in a plane perpendicular to the light-emitting substrate, for example, the distance between the edge of the light-reflective layer and the edge of the adjacent light-emitting diode may be about 150 microns.
[0078] The solution of this embodiment will be described below by taking some examples.
[0079] 1A and 1B are schematic plan views of a light-emitting substrate according to at least one embodiment of the present disclosure. FIG. 2 is a schematic local cross-sectional view of a light-emitting substrate according to at least one embodiment of the present disclosure. FIG. 2 is a schematic local cross-sectional view along the PP direction in FIG. 1A. FIG. 2 shows a schematic cross-sectional view of a first plane. The first plane is perpendicular to the plane in which the base substrate 10 is located and passes through the center lines of the light-emitting surfaces of two adjacent light-emitting diodes 11. In this example, the first plane is parallel to the row direction of the light-emitting diode array. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto. For example, the first plane may be parallel to the column direction of the light-emitting diode array. In some examples, the light-emitting diode 11 may be a rectangular parallelepiped, and the center line of the light-emitting surface of the light-emitting diode 11 is perpendicular to the plane in which the base substrate 10 is located. The light-emitting surface of the light-emitting diode 11 may be a plane passing through the geometric center of the light-emitting diode 11 and the normal to the plane in which the base substrate 10 is located. The centerline of the light-emitting surface of the light-emitting diode 11 may pass through the geometric center of the light-emitting diode 11 and be parallel to the normal to the plane in which the base substrate 10 is located (i.e., pass through the geometric center of the light-emitting diode 11 and be perpendicular to the plane in which the base substrate 10 is located).
[0080] In some exemplary embodiments, as shown in Figures 1A, 1B and 2, the light-emitting substrate according to the present embodiment includes a base substrate 10, a retaining wall 12 disposed on the base substrate 10, and a plurality of light-emitting diodes 11. The retaining wall 12 and the plurality of light-emitting diodes 11 are located on the same side of the base substrate 10. Although Figures 1A and 1B show only a few light-emitting diodes 11, the present embodiment does not limit the number of light-emitting diodes 11 included in the light-emitting substrate.
[0081] In some exemplary embodiments, as shown in FIG. 1A and FIG. 1B, in a plane parallel to the light-emitting substrate, the base substrate 10 may include a light-emitting area A1 and a binding area A2. The binding area A2 may be located on one side of the light-emitting area A1. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto. For example, the binding area A2 may be located on multiple sides of the light-emitting area A1. The light-emitting area A1 of the base substrate 10 includes multiple driving circuits. The driving circuits are connected to the light-emitting diodes 11 and configured to control the light-emitting brightness of the light-emitting diodes 11. In some examples, the driving circuits may be micro integrated circuits (micro ICs, micro integrated circuits) with a size of a micron scale, or pixel circuits including thin film transistors (TFTs, thin film transistors). The binding area A2 may include multiple leads 32 and a binding pad area 31. One end of at least one lead 32 is connected to the driving circuit of the light-emitting area A1, and the other end is connected to a binding pad in the binding pad area 31. For example, the binding pad may be configured to be connected to an external control circuit via a flexible printed circuit (FPC), and the external control circuit controls the signal supply to the light emitting diode 11 to realize the light emitting diode 11 to emit light. In some examples, the shape of the light emitting area A1 may be configured according to demand, for example, the outline of the light emitting area A1 may be rectangular, but this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0082] In some exemplary embodiments, the base substrate 10 includes a base and a driving circuit layer. The driving circuit layer is located on the light-emitting area of the base substrate 10. The base may be a hard base (e.g., glass, quartz) or a flexible base (e.g., flexible materials such as polyimide (PI), polyethylene terephthalate (PET)). The driving circuit layer may include a plurality of driving circuits arranged in an array.
[0083] In some exemplary embodiments, the base substrate 10 may be a printed circuit board, although this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0084] In some exemplary embodiments, the light emission brightness of each light emitting diode 11 included in the light emitting substrate may be controlled by a driving circuit in the base substrate 10. In some examples, the light emitting substrate may serve as a light source for a passive display panel to improve the contrast ratio of a display device to which the light emitting substrate is applied.
[0085] In some exemplary embodiments, the multiple light-emitting diodes 11 may be regularly arranged in the light-emitting area A1 of the base substrate 10. As shown in FIG. 1A and FIG. 1B, the multiple light-emitting diodes 11 are arranged in the light-emitting area A1 like an array. In FIG. 1A and FIG. 1B, the horizontal direction X may be the row direction of the light-emitting diode array, and the vertical direction Y may be the column direction of the light-emitting diode array. The horizontal direction X is perpendicular to the vertical direction Y. The multiple light-emitting diodes 11 may be connected to a driving circuit in the base substrate 10. For example, the multiple light-emitting diodes 11 are connected one-to-one to each of the multiple driving circuits.
[0086] In some exemplary embodiments, as shown in FIG. 2, a light-reflecting layer 14 is provided on the surface of the base substrate 10. Exemplarily, the light-reflecting layer 14 may be formed by applying a white ink. For example, the white ink may be a heat-curable ink or a photo-curable ink. The light-reflecting layer 14 may expose a pad pin of a driving circuit to which the light-emitting diode 11 is connected, thereby realizing an electrical connection between the driving circuit and the light-emitting diode 11. In this example, the light-reflecting layer 14 may cover an area of the base substrate 10 other than the position to which the light-emitting diode 11 is connected. The light-reflecting layer 14 may reflect light toward a side away from the base substrate 10, thereby improving the light utilization rate. In some examples, the distance between the edge of the light-reflecting layer 14 and the edge of the adjacent light-emitting diode 11 in a plane perpendicular to the light-emitting substrate may be about 150 microns. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0087] In some exemplary embodiments, the light emitting diode 11 emits light away from the base substrate 10. For example, the light emitting diode 11 may be an inorganic light emitting diode that emits blue light, and the size of the inorganic light emitting diode may be less than 500 microns (um), for example, the size may be about 80 um to 300 um. For ease of understanding, the light emitting diode 11 includes a light emitting structure made of a semiconductor material stack and an electrode pin, although not separately shown in the drawings.
[0088] Each light emitting diode 11 may be a point light source, and the light emitting diodes 11 arranged in a number of rows and a number of columns form a surface light source. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto. For example, the surface of the light emitting diode 11 may further include a light conversion material layer disposed on the light emitting side, such as a fluorescent powder layer or a quantum dot film layer. The fluorescent powder material in the fluorescent powder layer or the quantum dot material in the quantum dot film layer can be excited by blue light to emit light of another color (for example, white light).
[0089] In some exemplary embodiments, the holding wall 12 may divide the light emitting area A1 of the light emitting substrate into a plurality of sections, and at least one light emitting diode 11 may be installed in each section. As shown in FIG. 1A, a plurality of light emitting diodes 11 arranged in an array may be installed in the light emitting area A1 of the base substrate 10, and four light emitting diodes 11 arranged in a 2*2 array may be installed in each section divided by the holding wall 12. As shown in FIG. 1B, a plurality of light emitting diodes 11 arranged in an array may be installed in the light emitting area A1 of the base substrate 10, and one light emitting diode 11 may be installed in each section divided by the holding wall 12. In this example, the same number of light emitting diodes 11 are arranged in the plurality of sections divided by the holding wall 12. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto. For example, the number of light emitting diodes 11 installed in the plurality of sections divided by the holding wall 12 may be different. Or, the light emitting diodes installed in the plurality of sections divided by the holding wall 12 may be arranged in a non-array, and the non-array arrangement may be due to intentional installation or process deviation.
[0090] In some exemplary embodiments, the material of the retaining wall 12 includes a light-reflecting material. The retaining wall 12 according to the present embodiment may have a light-reflecting effect to improve the light utilization rate, but the present embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0091] In some exemplary embodiments, as shown in Figures 1A and 1B, the retaining wall 12 may be a mesh structure, and the mesh structure may include at least one grid. In this example, one grid is one section. The number of light-emitting diodes 11 surrounded by each grid is not limited, for example, at least one grid surrounds four adjacent light-emitting diodes 11 or one light-emitting diode 11. In some examples, the retaining wall 12 may include a plurality of elongated structures extending along a horizontal direction X, or may include a plurality of elongated structures extending along a vertical direction Y.
[0092] In some exemplary embodiments, as shown in Figures 1A and 1B, the light emitting diodes 11 in each compartment are surrounded by a retaining wall 12. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto. For example, the retaining wall 12 may partially surround at least one light emitting diode 11 to form a compartment.
[0093] The light-emitting diodes in each section may be regularly arranged, or the arrangement positions may be irregular due to process deviations. For example, the light-emitting diodes in each section are not aligned in the horizontal direction (or vertical direction), and some deviations exist. In some examples, a plane on which a center line passing through the light-emitting surfaces of the two most adjacent light-emitting diodes located on both sides of a holding wall extending along a single direction (e.g., a long-shaped structure extending along a horizontal direction or a long-shaped structure extending along a vertical direction) is located may be defined as a first plane, and the first plane may be perpendicular to the plane on which the base substrate is located. In the first plane, the length of the orthogonal projection of the long-shaped structure extending along the single direction on the base substrate is the maximum length of the holding wall along the first direction. The two most adjacent light-emitting diodes located on both sides of the holding wall extending along a single direction refer to a line segment obtained by connecting the geometric centers of the two light-emitting diodes, in which there is no third light-emitting diode, and the line segment intersects only the long-shaped structure extending along the single direction. In some implementations, the retaining wall may be manufactured by coating or printing. For example, a plurality of elongated structures extending along a horizontal direction and parallel to each other are manufactured first, and then a plurality of elongated structures extending along a vertical direction and parallel to each other are manufactured. As can be understood, the elongated structures extending along a horizontal direction and parallel to each other and the elongated structures extending along a vertical direction and parallel to each other have overlapping regions, so that in the manufacturing process, in order to simplify the process and reduce time, there is a difference between the shape of the elongated structures extending along a horizontal direction and / or the shape of the elongated structures extending along a vertical direction in the overlapping region and the shape of the elongated structures extending along a vertical direction in the overlapping region. For example, the thickness of the overlapping region in a direction perpendicular to the base substrate is slightly larger than the thickness of the non-overlapping region in a direction perpendicular to the base substrate, and the length of the overlapping region in a first direction is larger than the length of the non-overlapping region in the first direction.
[0094] In some exemplary embodiments, of the two cross sections of the retaining wall 12 parallel to the plane on which the base substrate 10 is located, the area of the cross section close to the base substrate 10 is larger than the area of the cross section away from the base substrate 10. As shown in FIG. 2, in the first plane, the length of the retaining wall 12 along the first direction gradually decreases from the base substrate 10 toward the side away from the base substrate 10. The first direction may be parallel to the first plane and perpendicular to the center line of the light-emitting surface of the light-emitting diode 11, and may be perpendicular to the extension direction of the retaining wall 12. In this example, the first direction is parallel to the horizontal direction X. For example, in the first plane, the surface of the retaining wall 12 on the side away from the base substrate 10 may be an arc surface. As shown in FIG. 2, the cross-sectional shape of the retaining wall 12 in the first plane may be semicircular. The side surface of the retaining wall 12 close to the adjacent light-emitting diode 11 may be an arc surface. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto. For example, the cross-sectional shape of the retaining wall 12 in the first plane may be trapezoidal. The side surface of the retaining wall 12 that is closer to the adjacent light-emitting diode 11 may be inclined.
[0095] In some exemplary embodiments, as shown in FIG. 2, in the first plane, the distance between adjacent edges of two adjacent light-emitting diodes 11 in the first direction is W3, the maximum length of the retaining wall 12 in the first direction (i.e., the length of the orthogonal projection of the elongated structure located between the two adjacent light-emitting diodes 12 on the base substrate 10 in the first plane) is W1, and the maximum length of the retaining wall 12 in the second direction Z is H1. The second direction Z and the first direction are located on the same plane and perpendicular to the first direction. In this example, the second direction Z is perpendicular to the base substrate 10. The distance between adjacent edges of any two adjacent light-emitting diodes among the plurality of light-emitting diodes 11 arranged in the array in the first direction is approximately the same. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0096] In some examples, the ratio of W3 to W1 may be about 4.0-5.5, for example, about 4.5, and the ratio of H1 to W1 may be about 0.5-0.8, for example, about 0.625. The size of the retaining wall of the light-emitting substrate according to this example can achieve a suitable uniform light effect. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0097] In some exemplary embodiments, as shown in FIG. 2, in the first plane, the maximum length W1 of the retaining wall 12 along the first direction may be about 0.72 mm to 0.88 mm, for example, about 0.8 mm. The maximum length H1 of the retaining wall 12 along the second direction Z may be about 0.45 mm to 0.55 mm, for example, about 0.5 mm. The size of the retaining wall of the light-emitting substrate according to this example can achieve a suitable uniform light effect. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0098] In some exemplary embodiments, as shown in FIG. 1A, FIG. 1B, and FIG. 2, the light-transmitting protective layer 13 covers the light-emitting diodes 11. In some examples, the orthogonal projection of the light-transmitting protective layer 13 on the base substrate 10 and the orthogonal projection of the retaining wall 12 on the base substrate 10 partially overlap. For example, the light-transmitting protective layer 13 may be located in a section divided by the retaining wall 12 to cover at least one light-emitting diode 11 (e.g., four light-emitting diodes 11) in the section. As shown in FIG. 2, in the first plane, the maximum thickness of the retaining wall 12 is the maximum length H1 in the second direction Z. The maximum thickness H2 of the light-transmitting protective layer 13 is smaller than the maximum thickness H1 of the retaining wall 12. In the present disclosure, the thickness is the distance between the surface away from the base substrate 10 and the surface close to the base substrate 10. In other examples, the maximum thickness H2 of the light-transmitting protective layer 13 may be equal to the maximum thickness H1 of the retaining wall 12. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0099] In some exemplary embodiments, as shown in FIG. 2, the light-transmitting protective layer 13 has a first surface 130 away from the base substrate 10, and the first surface 130 has a plurality of concave structures 131. As shown in FIG. 1A and FIG. 1B, the plurality of concave structures 131 correspond one-to-one to each of the plurality of light-emitting diodes 11. That is, one concave structure 131 corresponds to one light-emitting diode 11. An orthogonal projection of one concave structure 131 on the base substrate 10 includes an orthogonal projection of one light-emitting diode 11 on the base substrate 10. In some examples, the orthogonal projection of the light-emitting diode 11 on the base substrate 10 may be rectangular, and the orthogonal projection of the concave structure 131 on the base substrate 10 may be circular. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto. For example, the orthogonal projection of the light-emitting diode 11 and the concave structure 131 on the base substrate 10 may have the same shape.
[0100] In some exemplary embodiments, as shown in FIG. 2, the surface of the concave structure 131 may be an arc surface in the first plane. For example, the shape of the concave structure 131 may be a hemisphere, and the center of the light-emitting surface of the light-emitting diode 11 may be located on the central axis of the hemisphere. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto. For example, there may be a deviation between the center of the light-emitting surface of the light-emitting diode 11 and the central axis of the hemisphere.
[0101] In some exemplary embodiments, as shown in FIG. 2, in the first plane, the length W2 of the concave structure 131 along the first direction (i.e., the length of the orthogonal projection of the concave structure 131 on the base substrate in the first plane) may be about 0.72 mm to 0.88 mm, for example, about 0.8 mm. The maximum thickness H2 of the light-transmitting protective layer 13 may be about 0.36 mm to 0.44 mm, for example, about 0.4 mm. The distance H3 between the plane of the first surface 130 of the light-transmitting protective layer 13 other than the concave structure 131 and the surface of the light-emitting diode 11 away from the base substrate 10 is about 0.144 mm to 0.176 mm, for example, about 0.16 mm. There is a gap between the concave structure 131 and the light-emitting diode 11. There is a gap between the bottom surface of the concave structure 131 in the second direction Z and the light-emitting diode 11, and they are not in direct contact with each other. The light-transmitting protective layer of the light-emitting substrate according to this example can protect the light-emitting diode and achieve a suitable uniform light effect.
[0102] FIG. 3 is a schematic diagram of light transmission according to at least one embodiment of the present disclosure. In some exemplary embodiments, as shown in FIG. 3, a part of the light from the light-emitting diode 11 is refracted by the concave structure 131 of the light-transmitting protective layer 13 and then transmitted. A part of the light passes through the light-transmitting protective layer 13 and transmits to the retaining wall 12, and then exits the light-transmitting protective layer 13 after being reflected by the retaining wall 12, or is reflected by the light-reflecting layer 14 and then transmitted. As shown in FIG. 3, the concave structure 131 of the light-transmitting protective layer 13 can change the path of the light from the light-emitting diode 11 (for example, diffuse and transmit the light) to achieve a better uniform light effect. In some examples, the refractive index of the light-transmitting protective layer 13 may be about 1.4 to 1.6, for example, about 1.5 to 1.53. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0103] In some exemplary embodiments, as shown in FIG. 2, the light-emitting substrate further includes a diffusion film 15, a color conversion film 16, and a brightness enhancement film 17, which are located on the side of the light-transmitting protective layer 13 away from the base substrate 10 and are sequentially arranged along the direction away from the base substrate 10. The color conversion film 16 is located between the diffusion film 15 and the brightness enhancement film 17. In this example, the diffusion film 15 acts as a uniform light, and can block light spots caused by the regularly arranged light-emitting diodes 11 to uniformize the brightness on the surface of the light-emitting substrate as a whole. The color conversion film 16 can convert blue light from the light-emitting diodes 11 into white light. For example, the color conversion film can be a quantum dot (QD, Quantum Dots) film. The brightness enhancement film 17 can improve the backlight brightness after the light is uniformized. For example, the brightness enhancement film 17 can include at least one of a prism film (BEF, Brightness Enhancement Film) and a reflective polarized brightness enhancement film (DBEF, Dual Brightness Enhancement Film). However, this embodiment is not limited thereto. In some examples, if the light emitting diode emits white light, a color conversion film may not be provided.
[0104] The following is an example of a manufacturing process of a light emitting substrate. In the exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, "the orthogonal projection of A includes the orthogonal projection of B" means that the boundary of the orthogonal projection of B is within the boundary range of the orthogonal projection of A, or the boundary of the orthogonal projection of A overlaps with the boundary of the orthogonal projection of B.
[0105] In some exemplary embodiments, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the manufacturing process of the light emitting substrate may include the following operations.
[0106] (1) Manufacturing of the base substrate In some exemplary embodiments, a base 101 is provided, a driving circuit layer 102 is formed on the base 101, and then a white ink is applied to the driving circuit layer 101 to form a light-reflecting layer 14. The driving circuit layer 102 may include a plurality of driving circuits and a plurality of pad pins 103. The driving circuits may be electrically connected to the light-emitting diodes 11 through the pad pins 103. In some examples, the base 101 may be a rigid base or a flexible base. In some examples, a light-reflecting layer 14 may be formed on the base substrate 10 between two adjacent light-emitting diodes 11 by a coating process to expose the pad pins 103 to which the electrode pins of the light-emitting diodes 11 are connected. In some examples, the light-reflecting layer 14 may expose the entire pad pins 103, or may expose at least a portion of the pad pins 103. In this exemplary embodiment, by forming the light-reflecting layer 14 on the base substrate 10, the light utilization rate of the light-emitting diodes 11 can be improved, and the brightness of the light-emitting substrate can be increased. Also, when the brightness requirement is constant, a light emitting diode with low brightness can be selected, and the power consumption of the light emitting substrate can be reduced.
[0107] (2) Transfer printing of multiple light-emitting diodes onto a base substrate In some exemplary embodiments, the inorganic light emitting diodes can be mass transferred to the base substrate 10 by mass transfer techniques. In some examples, the electrode pins of the inorganic light emitting diodes can be coupled to pad pins 103 exposed by the light reflective layer 14 on the base substrate 10 via conductive materials such as solder, silver glue, etc.
[0108] In some examples, each light emitting diode 11 mounted on the base substrate 10 may be regarded as a point light source. A plurality of light emitting diodes 11 arranged in multiple rows and multiple columns mounted on the base substrate 10 can form a surface light source.
[0109] (3) Formation of retaining walls In some exemplary embodiments, the retaining wall 12 can be formed on the base substrate 10 by a dispensing or printing process. In some examples, the material of the retaining wall 12 may adopt a glue material with high reflectivity (e.g., reflectivity is greater than 95%), such as organic silica gel, epoxy, acrylic acid, etc. However, this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0110] (4) Formation of a light-transmitting protective layer In some exemplary embodiments, a dispensing or pouring process is used to form the light-transmitting protective layer 13 in the compartments partitioned by the retaining walls 12. The light-transmitting protective layer 13 covers the light-emitting diodes 11 to protect the light-emitting diodes 11 and prevent the light-emitting diodes 11 from being scratched. The light-transmitting protective layer 13 may cover the driving circuit layer 102. The maximum thickness of the light-transmitting protective layer 13 may be less than the maximum thickness of the retaining walls 12.
[0111] In some examples, in a plurality of compartments defined by the retaining wall 12, transparent silica gel is dropped in each compartment to obtain the light-transmitting protective layer 13 after leveling and curing. Because the transparent silica gel is an organic material and adopts the dropping method, the thickness of the light-transmitting protective layer 13 at the dropping position (e.g., at the geometric center of the compartment) is slightly larger than the thickness at other positions.
[0112] In some exemplary embodiments, a plurality of concave structures 131 may be formed on the first surface 130 of the light-transmitting protective layer 13 away from the base substrate 10 by molding press, transfer printing, punch press, etc., to change the light path from the light-emitting diode 11 to achieve a better uniform light effect. In some examples, the shape of the concave structures 131 may be hemispherical, but this embodiment is not limited thereto.
[0113] In some exemplary embodiments, the light-transmitting protective layer 13 may adopt materials such as organic silica gel, epoxy and acrylic acid, etc. The light transmittance of the light-transmitting protective layer 13 can reach 99%.
[0114] (5) Install the diffusion film, color conversion film, and brightness enhancement film in sequence. In some exemplary embodiments, a diffusion film 15, a color conversion film 16, and a brightness enhancement film 17 may be sequentially disposed on the side of the light-transmitting protective layer 13 away from the base substrate 10. The diffusion film 15, the color conversion film 16, and the brightness enhancement film 17 may cover the light-emitting area of the base substrate 10. In some exemplary embodiments, the diffusion film 15 may adopt a material having the function of uniform light to block the light spots caused by the light-emitting diodes 11 and uniformize the brightness of the surface as a whole. The color conversion film 16 may convert the blue light from the light-emitting diodes 11 into white light. The brightness enhancement film 17 may be a prism film to improve the brightness after the light is uniformized.
[0115] The manufacturing process of the light emitting substrate according to the exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure has good compatibility with the conventional manufacturing process, the process is simple to realize, easy to implement, high production efficiency, low production cost, and high yield rate.
