Electrical busbar and method for manufacturing same

Abstract

The present invention generally provides a busbar for use in mechanically and electrically connecting components in a device. The busbar includes a plurality of conductors arranged to provide two opposing end portions and a middle portion, each of the conductors having a plurality of middle extents across the middle portion, the middle portion including: (A) an unfused sector, in which none of the middle extents of the conductors are fused together to form a single linked conductor; and (B) a fused sector, in which: (i) a limited frozen zone, in which most of the middle extents of the conductors are fused together to form a lateral frozen region to provide a single linked conductor; (ii) a partially frozen zone, in which most of the middle extents of the conductors are fused together to form a vertical frozen region to provide a single linked conductor; and (iii) an unfrozen region, in which all of the middle extents of the conductors are not fused together.
