Engineered antimicrobial peptides and uses thereof

Abstract

The present disclosure provides pharmaceutical formulations and kits comprising an antimicrobial peptide having a basic pH, the antimicrobial peptide being combined with sodium bicarbonate. Further provided herein is a method of treating or preventing an infection comprising administering a pharmaceutical formulation comprising an antimicrobial peptide and sodium bicarbonate, the sodium bicarbonate providing a synergistic effect with the peptide or a pharma-ceutically acceptable salt thereof when administered to a subject.
