Vessel and method for inserting a monopile into a guide

Abstract

The vessel comprises a hull and a guide for guiding a monopile to be driven into the seabed, the guide being movably mounted on the hull and provided with a receiving part and a closing part movable relative to the receiving part for forming a closed and an open state of the guide, in which in the closed state the guide forms an annular body extending in a main plane and in which in the open state the guide has an opening into a space bounded by the receiving part, allowing a monopile to be received into the space through said opening. The vessel also comprises a displacement device for displacing the guide in the main plane relative to the hull and a control system for controlling the displacement device. The control system is arranged such that when the monopile and the guide move towards each other and the guide is in the open state to receive the monopile, the control system determines a swing path of the monopile relative to the hull in a direction in the main plane, and the displacement device displaces the guide in the same direction substantially synchronously with the determined swing path.
