Abstract

To prevent careless driving that may occur due to the display of a virtual preceding vehicle when turning right / left at intersections and encourage a driver to give consideration to the safety of the surroundings.SOLUTION: A head-up display device (HUD device 100) which projects and displays an image onto a display area VA virtually set in front of an own vehicle in a manner of being superimposed on the foreground so as to make a driver visually recognize the image, has: an image display unit 120 which displays an image; and a control unit 110 which performs control to display the image on the image display unit. The control unit displays a first image indicating either a virtual preceding vehicle or an actual preceding vehicle leading the own vehicle on the image display unit, and performs first display switching control of switching the image from the first image to a second image that is smaller in the display size than the first image and indicates a travel scheduled path of the own vehicle and displaying the second image on the image display unit when the own vehicle is predicted to perform steering with a steering angle equal to or greater than a certain level.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
