DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0009] An embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings. The configuration, shape, etc. described below are examples for explanation and can be appropriately changed according to the specifications of the joining device. In the following, the same reference numerals are used for corresponding elements in all drawings, and duplicated explanations will be omitted. In FIG. 1 and some drawings described later, the side where the operator operates the joining device is called the "front", the back side when viewed from the front is called the "rear", the right side is called the "right", the left side is called the "left", the upper side is called the "upper", and the lower side is called the "lower". In addition, the left-right direction is sometimes called the "X-axis direction", the front-back direction is sometimes called the "Y-axis direction" perpendicular to the X-axis direction, and the up-down direction is sometimes called the "Z-axis direction" perpendicular to the horizontal plane (X-axis direction, Y-axis direction).
[0010] First, the configuration of the joining device 1 will be described with reference to the drawings. In Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, the joining device 1 has a base 3, which is made of a material such as steel with a high modulus of rigidity and extends upward, fixed to the top of a base 2 installed on a floor B. An upper extension part 4 extending forward is arranged on the top of the base 3. A pressing cylinder 6, which has a pressing member 5 attached to its lower end, is arranged on the upper extension part 4. The pressing cylinder 6 is controlled by a control device 50 (Fig. 7) provided in the joining device 1, and moves the pressing member 5 in the vertical direction by hydraulic pressure or air pressure. In this way, the pressing cylinder 6 is fixed to the base 3, and the axis AX of the pressing cylinder 6 is installed so as to extend in the vertical direction (Z-axis direction).
[0011] A lower extension 7 extending forward is formed at the middle of the base material 3. A tool unit 10 is disposed above the lower extension 7. The tool unit 10 has a function of supplying a joining member F, such as a clinching fastener or a rivet, to a position where an operator can insert the joining member F into a pilot hole Wh formed in a workpiece W, such as a metal case (see FIG. 5). The tool unit 10 also has a function of receiving a load applied to the workpiece W and the joining member F by lowering the pressing member 5 by the pressing cylinder 6, thereby joining the joining member F to the workpiece W (see FIG. 10). A member supply mechanism 40 is disposed on the right side of the lower extension 7, which aligns the joining member F in a predetermined position and supplies it to the tool unit 10.
[0012] Next, the configuration of the tool unit 10 will be described with reference to Figures 2, 3, 8, 11, etc. The tool unit 10 is configured to include a base block 11, a guide member 12, a lifting member 13, a lifting mechanism 14, and a block moving mechanism 15. The base block 11 is fixed to the upper surface in front of the lower extension portion 7. The guide member 12 is configured to include a cylindrical centering tool 16 and a tool holder 17 to which the centering tool 16 is attached.
[0013] 8 and 11, a through hole 16a is formed in the center of the centering tool 16 in the vertical direction (Z-axis direction) through which the joining member F and the core pin 18 attached to the upper part of the lifting member 13 can move up and down. A centering tool attachment part 17a to which the centering tool 16 is attached is formed in the upper part of the tool holder 17. The centering tool 16 is attached to the centering tool attachment part 17a in a replaceable manner.
[0014] An internal space 17b is formed in the center of the lower part of the tool holder 17, which is open downward and into which the lifting member 13 can enter from below. A through hole 17c is formed between the centering tool mounting part 17a of the tool holder 17 and the internal space 17b, through which the core pin 18 mounted on the lifting member 13 can pass. In this way, in the guide member 12, when the centering tool 16 is mounted on the tool holder 17, the through hole 16a, the through hole 17c, and the internal space 17b communicate with each other, and the core pin 18 mounted on the lifting member 13 can move up and down.
[0015] 11, two support pillars 19 extending upward are arranged side by side in the X-axis direction on the front upper surface of the base block 11. Guide bushes 20, into which the support pillars 19 are inserted from below, are provided on the left and right sides of the internal space 17b in the tool holder 17. The tool holder 17 is attached to the base block 11 by inserting the guide bushes 20 into the support pillars 19 to which a tool holder support spring 21 (second elastic body), which is an elastic body such as a compression coil spring, is attached, and engaging a bolt 22 with a screw hole formed in the upper part of the support pillar 19.
[0016] 2, 10 and 13, the guide member 12 is disposed so that, with the tool holder 17 attached to the base block 11, the center of the through hole 16a of the centering tool 16 is at a position where the axis AX of the press cylinder 6 is extended. In this manner, the guide member 12 (the centering tool 16 and the tool holder 17) is supported by the base block 11 in a state where it is biased upward via two tool holder support springs 21 (second elastic bodies) attached to two supports 19.
[0017] 6, 8 and 11, a core pin mounting portion 13a is formed on the upper portion of the lifting member 13, on which a core pin 18 extending upward is mounted. The core pin 18 is detachably mounted on the core pin mounting portion 13a. A lifting member holding portion 24 is formed on the tip of an arm 23 of the lifting mechanism 14. The lifting member holding portion 24 is disposed at a position where the axis AX of the pressing cylinder 6 is extended (see Figs. 10 and 13). A guide bush 25 into which the lower portion 13b of the lifting member 13 is inserted from above is disposed on the lifting member holding portion 24. The outer diameter of the lower portion 13b of the lifting member 13 is smaller than the outer diameter of the core pin mounting portion 13a.
[0018] The lifting member 13 is attached to the lifting member holding part 24 by inserting the lower part 13b, to which the lifting member support spring 26, which is an elastic body such as a compression coil spring, is attached, into the guide bush 25 and engaging the bolt 27 with a screw hole formed in the lower part 13b. In this manner, the lifting member 13 is supported by the lifting member holding part 24 of the arm 23 via the lifting member support spring 26 (first elastic body).
[0019] 3 and 4, the lifting mechanism 14 has an arm 23 that holds the lifting member 13, and a lifting cylinder 28 (lifting means) that lifts and lowers the arm 23. The lifting cylinder 28 is fixed to a position on the left side of the base material 3 that is off the position to which the axis AX of the pressing cylinder 6 is extended. The lifting cylinder 28 is an electric cylinder or the like that can control the height position of a piston rod 28a that lifts and lowers the arm 23, and is controlled by a control device 50. The piston rod 28a is connected to a connection part 23a on the underside of the arm 23.
[0020] On the underside of the arm 23, shafts 29 extending downward are disposed at positions in front and behind the connecting portion 23a. Linear bushes 30 supporting the up and down movement of the shafts 29 inserted from above are disposed at positions in front and behind the piston rod 28a so as to be fixed to the left side of the base material 3. The arm 23 is configured with a front-rear extending portion 23b extending in the front-rear direction (Y-axis direction) and an oblique extending portion 23c extending obliquely forward from the front-rear extending portion 23b and having a lifting member holding portion 24 at its tip (see also FIG. 6(a)). On the underside of the front-rear extending portion 23b, the connecting portion 23a and two shafts 29 are disposed.
[0021] 3 and 4, a groove 11b is formed in the upper surface 11a of the base block 11 so that the groove 11b does not interfere with the ascending and descending arm 23 and the upper surface of the descended arm 23 does not protrude upward from the upper surface 11a of the base block 11. In Figs. 8 and 11, a lifting space 11c is formed in the base block 11 at a position where the axis AX of the pressing cylinder 6 is extended, so that the lifting space 11c does not interfere with the ascending and descending lifting member holding part 24. The control device 50 controls the lifting cylinder 28, so that the arm 23 and the lifting member 13 held by the arm 23 move between a descended state in which the arm 23 is descended as shown in Fig. 3 and an ascended state in which the arm 23 is ascended as shown in Fig. 4.
[0022] In this way, the lifting cylinder 28 (lifting means) of the lifting mechanism 14 is disposed at a position away from the extension of the axis AX of the pressing cylinder 6. With this configuration, a wide working space S is ensured below the base block 11 where the lifting member holding part 24 is located (see Figs. 2 and 10).
[0023] 3, 4, and 6, the block moving mechanism 15 is configured to include a block moving cylinder 31 and a load receiving block 32. The block moving cylinder 31 is fixed to the upper surface 11a of the base block 11. The block moving cylinder 31 is controlled by a control device 50, and moves the load receiving block 32 horizontally across the upper surface 11a of the base block 11 by hydraulic pressure, pneumatic pressure, or a driving force such as a motor.
[0024] 3 and 6(a) show a standby state in which the load receiving block 32 is retracted toward the block moving cylinder 31. The load receiving block 32 is machined into a shape that does not interfere with the arm 23 moving up and down in the standby state. The block moving mechanism 15 is disposed so that the direction in which the load receiving block 32 moves is inclined with respect to the front-rear direction (Y-axis direction). This shortens the distance that the load receiving block 32 moves the block moving cylinder 31, and the tool unit 10 can be configured compactly.
[0025] 4, 6(b), 10, and 13 show an inserted state in which, in the raised state in which the arm 23 is in the upward position, the block moving cylinder 31 moves the load receiving block 32 forward, and the load receiving block 32 is inserted under the raised lifting member 13. That is, in the raised state, the lifting member 13 has risen to a height where it does not interfere with the load receiving block 32 inserted below (see also FIG. 14(a)).
[0026] 1 and 8, the member supply mechanism 40 is configured to include a bowl feeder 41, an X-direction movement guide 42, and a Y-direction movement mechanism 43. The bowl feeder 41 is controlled by the control device 50, and has a function of moving a plurality of joining members F supplied in a bowl 41a to the X-direction movement guide 42 by vibration. The bowl feeder 41 also has a function of aligning the joining members F in a predetermined posture in the process of moving the joining members F from the bowl 41a to the X-direction movement guide 42. The X-direction movement guide 42 has a function of moving the joining members F supplied from the bowl feeder 41 to the Y-direction movement mechanism 43 in a line.
[0027] The Y-direction moving mechanism 43 is controlled by the control device 50, and has the function of moving the joining members F supplied from the X-direction moving guide 42 forward and supplying the joining members F one by one from the component supply port 16b formed on the side of the centering tool 16 into the through holes 16a.
[0028] The joining device 1 is provided with pressing members 5, centering tools 16, and core pins 18 of different sizes and shapes in accordance with the type, shape, and size of the joining members F. Then, the appropriate pressing members 5, centering tools 16, and core pins 18 are attached to the joining device 1 in accordance with the joining members F to be joined to the workpiece W.
[0029] Next, the configuration of a control system of the joining device 1 will be described with reference to Fig. 7. The joining device 1 includes a control device 50 to which the pressing cylinder 6, the lifting cylinder 28, the block moving cylinder 31, the bowl feeder 41, the Y-direction moving mechanism 43, and a touch panel 53 are connected.
[0030] The control device 50 includes a storage unit 51 and a joining control unit 52. The storage unit 51 is a storage device, and stores a control program, control parameters, and the like for controlling each part of the joining device 1 to apply pressure and execute a joining process for joining the joining member F to the workpiece W. Information on the type and size of the joining member F, the pressing member 5 attached to the joining device 1, the centering tool 16, the core pin 18, and the like is input to the touch panel 53, and the input information is stored in the storage unit 51. The joining control unit 52 controls each part of the joining device 1 to execute the joining process based on various data stored in the storage unit 51, commands input from the touch panel 53, and the like.
[0031] Next, with reference to Figs. 8 to 13, the joining process executed by the control device 50 controlling each part of the joining device 1 will be described. Figs. 8 and 11 show a lowered state in which the arm 23 is lowered and the lifting member holding part 24 and the lifting member 13 are in the lifting space 11c. The control device 50 controls the lifting cylinder 28 so that the upper end surface of the core pin 18 is located at the position of the lower side of the component supply port 16b of the centering tool 16 in the lowered state. The joining control part 52 controls the Y-direction moving mechanism 43 in the lowered state to move one joining member F from the component supply port 16b to the through hole 16a (arrow a). As a result, one joining member F is supplied to the upper end surface of the core pin 18. In this way, the member supply mechanism 40 supplies the joining member F to the upper end surface of the core pin 18.
[0032] 9 and 12, the joining control unit 52 then controls the lifting cylinder 28 to lift the arm 23 (arrow b) so that the joining member F supplied to the upper end surface of the core pin 18 protrudes from the upper end surface of the centering tool 16 and the worker can insert it into the pilot hole Wh of the workpiece W. In this state, the lifting member 13 has risen to a position below which the load-receiving block 32 can be inserted.
[0033] 10 and 13, the worker then inserts the pilot hole Wh of the workpiece W into the joining member F protruding from the upper end surface of the centering tool 16. For example, when the joining member F is a clinching stud bolt, the joining member F is supplied from the upper end surface of the centering tool 16 with the threaded portion Fa on top and the head Fb on the bottom. Then, the worker inserts the threaded portion Fa into the pilot hole Wh of the workpiece W (FIG. 13). In the joining device 1 of this embodiment, a wide working space S is secured below the base block 11. Therefore, even when joining the joining member F to the side surface of the U-shaped workpiece W, the side surface opposite to the side surface to which the joining member F is joined does not interfere with each part of the joining device 1 (FIG. 10).
[0034] Next, the joining control unit 52 controls the block moving cylinder 31 to insert the load-receiving block 32 under the raised lifting member 13 (arrow c). Next, the joining control unit 52 controls the pressing cylinder 6 to lower the pressing member 5 and press the workpiece W with the lower end surface 5a of the pressing member 5, applying pressure and joining the head Fb of the joining member F to the workpiece W (arrow d). If the joining member F is a clinching stud bolt, a relief hole 5b is formed in the pressing member 5 so that the threaded portion Fa of the joining member F does not interfere with the pressing member 5 when pressing the workpiece W (Fig. 13).
[0035] In this way, the load applied by the pressing cylinder 6 is received by the base block 11 via the pressing member 5, the workpiece W, the head Fb of the joining member F, the core pin 18, the lifting member 13, and the load-receiving block 32.
[0036] When the joining member F is joined to the workpiece W, the joining control unit 52 controls the pressing cylinder 6 to raise the pressing member 5. This enables the worker to replace the workpiece W. Furthermore, the joining control unit 52 controls the block moving cylinder 31 to retract the load receiving block 32 and move it away from under the lifting member 13, and controls the lifting cylinder 28 to lower the arm 23. This enables the next joining member F to be supplied to the upper end surface of the core pin 18 (FIGS. 8 and 11).
[0037] Next, referring to Figure 14, the states of the guide member 12 (centering tool 16, tool holder 17), core pin 18, lifting member 13, load-receiving block 32, and base block 11 while pressure is being applied from the pressure cylinder 6 to join the joining member F to the workpiece W, and the functions of the lifting member support spring 26 (first elastic body) and the tool holder support spring 21 (second elastic body) will be described.
[0038] 14(a) shows a state in which the load-receiving block 32 is inserted under the raised lifting member 13, but no load is being applied from the press cylinder 6 to the workpiece W and the joining member F. When the load-receiving block 32 is inserted under the raised lifting member 13, a gap G is ensured between the lower surface of the lifting member 13 and the upper surface of the load-receiving block 32. Therefore, the load-receiving block 32 being inserted or retracted does not interfere with the raised lifting member 13.
[0039] FIG. 14(b) shows a state in which the pressing cylinder 6 lowers the pressing member 5 to apply a load P1 to the workpiece W and the joining member F. The load P1 is applied to the lifting member 13 via the core pin 18. The lifting member 13 is pressed down by the load P1 against the biasing force of the lifting member support spring 26 and abuts against the load receiving block 32. As a result, the load P1 applied by the pressing cylinder 6 is received by the base block 11 via the load receiving block 32. At this time, since the lifting member holding part 24 is connected to the lifting member 13 via the lifting member support spring 26, the load P1 applied to the lifting member 13 is absorbed by the lifting member support spring 26 and is not directly applied to the arm 23. This makes it possible to prevent the load P1 generated by the pressing cylinder 6 from damaging the arm 23 or the lifting cylinder 28 (lifting means).
[0040] FIG. 14(c) shows a state in which the pressing cylinder 6 lowers the pressing member 5 and the load P1 is applied to the lifting member 13 via the core pin 18, and the load P2 is applied to the tool holder 17 via the centering tool 16. When the pressing cylinder 6 lowers the pressing member 5 to join the joining member F to the workpiece W, the load P2 may also be applied to the centering tool 16 and the tool holder 17 due to the shapes of the workpiece W and the joining member F and the shapes of the pressing member 5 and the centering tool 16. Even in such a case, the guide member 12 (the centering tool 16 and the tool holder 17) is connected to the base block 11 via the tool holder support spring 21, so that the load P2 applied to the guide member 12 is absorbed by the tool holder support spring 21. Therefore, the load P2 is not directly applied to the guide member 12, and it is possible to prevent the load P2 generated by the pressing cylinder 6 from damaging the guide member 12.
[0041] As described above, the joining device 1 of this embodiment, which applies pressure to join the joining member F to the workpiece W, includes a press cylinder 6 that lowers the press member 5 provided at the lower end, a guide member 12 (centering tool 16 and tool holder 17) that is arranged below the press member 5 and has a through hole 16a through which the joining member F can move up and down, a lifting member 13 that has at its upper part a core pin 18 that moves up and down within the through hole 16a, a lifting mechanism 14 that lifts and lowers the lifting member 13, a block moving mechanism 15 that inserts a load-receiving block 32 under the lifted lifting member 13, and a base block 11 that receives the load P1 applied to the load-receiving block 32 from the press cylinder 6 via the press member 5, the workpiece W, the joining member F, the core pin 18, and the lifting member 13.
[0042] The lifting mechanism 14 has an arm 23 that holds the lifting member 13, and a lifting means (lifting cylinder 28) that raises and lowers the arm 23, and the lifting means is disposed at a position that is different from the extended position of the axis AX of the pressing cylinder 6. This allows the joining member F to be joined to the side surface of the U-shaped workpiece W. [Industrial Applicability]
