AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional rubber compositions containing phenylenediamine-based anti-aging agents face challenges due to the environmental pollution caused by the quinone produced and the need for improved anti-aging properties to meet enhanced safety standards.

Method used

A rubber composition is developed that incorporates a phenylenediamine-based anti-aging agent, along with a specific compound having structures X and Y, which are designed to prevent quinonation and enhance anti-aging properties by regulating the reaction of the anti-aging agent with radicals.

Benefits of technology

The composition effectively prevents quinonation of the phenylenediamine-based anti-aging agent, thereby maintaining its anti-aging properties and ensuring improved durability and safety of rubber products such as tires.

Abstract

To provide a rubber composition containing a phenylene diamine-based antioxidant which is excellent in quinonization prevention property and anti-aging property.SOLUTION: A rubber composition contains 100 pts.mass of diene-based rubber, 0.1 to 10 pts.mass of a phenylene diamine-based antioxidant, and a specific compound having a LUMO energy level of -2 to 0 eV and having a structure X and a structure Y which is a structure Y1 or a structure Y2, wherein a molar ratio of the specific compound to the antioxidant is 0.1 to 3. Structure X: A-H bond satisfying condition 1 and condition 2a. A represents a group 13 element to a group 16 element. Structure Y1: A-H bond satisfying condition 1 and condition 2b. A represents a group 13 element to a group 16 element. Structure Y2: structure represented by R1-CH2-R2 satisfying condition 1. R1 and R2 represent electron-attractive groups. Condition 1: proton affinity energy is 300 to 360 kcal / mol. Condition 2a: A is bonded to an aromatic ring. Condition 2b: A is bonded to an aliphatic hydrocarbon chain.SELECTED DRAWING: None
