Abstract
To cope with a drawback in cases when a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag is used as a sensing device for the purposes of, for example, tracking stock in a store or monitoring components in a manufacturing / order processing chain.SOLUTION: Methods include receiving a request from a user device to download an application and providing access to the application in response to the request. The application is configured to: transmit an electromagnetic radiation ping; receive a return signal including a product identification code from an electromagnetic state sensing device (EMSSD) that is affixed to product packaging; transmit an electromagnetic radiation ping adjusted based on the product identification code; receive a return signal including the content within the product packaging from the EMSSD; and transmit part of the return signal to an upstream computing device. The return signal indicates whether the level or amount of an item within a container is less than a threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
