Abstract

To provide a modified surface for preventing or delaying occurrence of a phase change such as condensation or frost deposition and a use method thereof.SOLUTION: A method for preventing or delaying the occurrence of phase changes on a surface, which includes a step of providing a modified surface that involves surface modification, wherein the modified surface, in comparison to the unmodified surface which is equal to the modified surface except for the fact that the unmodified surface does not include the surface modification, increases the energy barrier for the phase change from a first phase to a second phase or the driving force required for the phase change for materials in contact with the modified surface; and includes a step of bringing a fluid flow containing at least one material from a first phase that includes substances from the vapor phase and / or liquid phase into contact with the modified surface under environmental conditions where a phase change to the second phase may occur on the unmodified surface; such that, compared to the unmodified surface, the phase change is prevented or delayed on the modified surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
