Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a lignin-containing polyamide resin composition and a molded article thereof.

Background Art

[0002] In recent years, as members for automobiles, electric and electronic devices, the usage rate of lightweight plastics and those formed of composite materials containing the same has been increasing. However, the increase in the usage amount of petroleum-derived plastics not only leads to the depletion of petroleum resources, but also poses a problem of causing environmental pollution due to improper disposal of waste.

[0003] Accordingly, research on lightweight members using biomass raw materials such as lignin instead of petroleum-derived plastics has begun (see Patent Documents 1 to 3). Lignin is a component that accounts for 20 to 30% of wood, and can be obtained in large quantities from thinned wood, papermaking processes, and the like.

[0004] Patent Document 1 describes a thermoplastic resin composition comprising (A) 99 to 50% by mass of a thermoplastic resin and (B) 50 to 1% by mass of lignin acetate. The lignin acetate described in Patent Document 1 is acetylated lignin, and it is stated that by forming a composition in which this is contained in a thermoplastic resin, a composition and a molded article thereof that have reduced environmental load, high flame retardancy, and excellent appearance, heat aging resistance, and weather resistance of the molded article can be obtained.

[0005] Patent Document 2 describes a resin composition containing partially hydrolyzed fine cellulose fibers (A) and a thermoplastic resin (B) , hemicellulose (C), and lignin (D). The resin composition described in Patent Document 2 is said to provide a resin composite excellent in wear resistance and durability by making the fine cellulose fibers, which are lightweight and have a high elastic modulus and a low linear expansion coefficient, have good interfacial adhesion with the resin.

[0006] Patent Document 3 describes a composite material containing 50 to 80 parts by weight of lignin and 20 to 50 parts by weight of polyamide having a specific structure. The composite material described in Patent Document 3 is said to have high environmental protection performance due to its high lignin content.

[0007] Non-patent document 1 describes that a molded article of a resin composition containing polypropylene grafted with maleic anhydride, glycol lignin, and carbon fibers exhibits excellent mechanical properties and thermal stability. [Prior art documents] [Patent Documents]

Dumbbell test specimens (ISO 527-2) were molded from the dried pellets using a small injection molding machine (Mini JET II, manufactured by Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.) at a cylinder temperature of 220-250°C and a mold temperature of 80°C.

[0048] <Measurement of molded product properties> Tensile tests were performed on the dumbbell specimens for each comparative example and example in accordance with ASTM D638, and the tensile modulus and tensile strength were calculated. The tensile tests were performed using an electromechanical testing machine (Shimadzu Corporation, EZ-LX) at a crosshead speed of 5 mm / min. The strain necessary for calculating the tensile modulus was measured using a video non-contact elongation meter (video extensometer). Tensile tests were performed on N=3 dumbbell specimens for each example and comparative example, and the tensile modulus and tensile strength were taken as the average of the values calculated for each specimen. The obtained tensile modulus and tensile strength are shown in Table 1.

[0049] [Table 1]

[0050] [Comparative Examples 8 to 14, and Examples 7 to 15] In Comparative Examples 8 to 14 and Examples 7 to 15, PA11 was used as the (B) polyamide resin, and the composition of each component was changed as shown in Table 2. Except for these changes, dumbbell specimens were prepared in the same manner as in Comparative Example 1, and tensile tests were performed to calculate the tensile modulus and tensile strength. The obtained tensile modulus and tensile strength are shown in Table 2.

[0051] [Table 2]

[0052] [Examples 16 to 19] In Examples 16 to 19, PA12 was used as the (B) polyamide resin, and the composition of each component was changed as shown in Table 3. Except for these changes, dumbbell specimens were prepared in the same manner as in Comparative Example 1, and tensile tests were performed to calculate the tensile modulus and tensile strength. The obtained tensile modulus and tensile strength are shown in Table 3.

[0053] [Table 3]

[0054] [Comparative Examples 15 to 18, and Examples 20 to 21] In Comparative Examples 15 to 18 and Examples 20 to 21, dumbbell specimens were prepared in the same manner as in Comparative Example 1, except that PA66 was used as the (B) polyamide resin and the composition of each component was changed as shown in Table 4. Tensile tests were then performed, and the tensile modulus and tensile strength were calculated. The obtained tensile modulus and tensile strength are shown in Table 4.

[0055] [Table 4]

[0056] [Comparative Examples 19 to 21, and Example 22] In Comparative Examples 19 to 21 and Example 22, dumbbell specimens were prepared in the same manner as in Comparative Example 1, except that PA6T / 6I was used as the (B) polyamide resin and the composition of each component was changed as shown in Table 5. Tensile tests were then performed, and the tensile modulus and tensile strength were calculated. The obtained tensile modulus and tensile strength are shown in Table 5.

[0057] [Table 5]

[0058] As shown in Tables 1 to 5, (A) glycol Modified with at least one selected from the group consisting of glycerin and polyglycerin. The molded articles obtained from the lignin-containing polyamide resin compositions according to each example, which contained lignin, (B) polyamide resin, and (C) plate-like or fibrous filler in specific proportions, had a higher tensile modulus of elasticity compared to the molded articles obtained from the lignin-containing polyamide resin composition according to the comparative example, which did not contain (C) plate-like or fibrous filler. Furthermore, the molded articles obtained from the lignin-containing polyamide resin compositions according to each example contained the same amount of the same type of (C) plate-like or fibrous filler and (A) glycol Modified with at least one selected from the group consisting of glycerin and polyglycerin. The tensile modulus was higher than that obtained from the polyamide resin composition of the comparative example which did not contain lignin. The molded article obtained from the lignin-containing polyamide resin composition of the example contained the same amount of (C) plate-like or fibrous filler and (A) glycol. Modified with at least one selected from the group consisting of glycerin and polyglycerin. The fact that it has a higher tensile modulus than the molded article obtained from the polyamide resin composition of the comparative example that does not contain lignin is due to (A) glycol Modified with at least one selected from the group consisting of glycerin and polyglycerin. This suggests that the interaction between lignin, (B) polyamide resin, and (C) plate-like or fibrous filler contributes to the improvement of the tensile modulus.

[0059] Furthermore, when (B) the polyamide resin is PA11 or PA66, as can be seen from the comparison between Comparative Example 12 and Examples 7, 10, or 13, Comparative Example 13 and Examples 8, 11, or 14, Comparative Example 14 and Examples 9, 12, or 15, Comparative Example 16 and Example 20, and Comparative Example 17 and Example 21, the molded article obtained from the lignin-containing polyamide resin composition according to the example contains the same amount of (C) plate-like or fibrous filler and (A) glycol. Modified with at least one selected from the group consisting of glycerin and polyglycerin. The molded article had higher tensile strength than the molded article obtained from the polyamide resin composition of the comparative example that did not contain lignin. [Industrial applicability]

[0060] According to the present invention, a polyamide resin composition capable of forming molded articles with reduced environmental impact and excellent elastic modulus can be obtained, as well as molded articles thereof. Therefore, the lignin-containing polyamide resin composition of the present invention can be widely used in polyamide application fields, including automotive components.
