AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing acrylic rubber compositions struggle to balance high-speed vulcanization with high-temperature heat resistance, as amine-cured systems suffer from poor processability and fabric tackiness, while active chlorine-based systems have weak crosslinked structures and inferior heat resistance.

Method used

An acrylic rubber composition containing hydrotalcite and quaternary onium salts is used, replacing organic acid acceptors, allowing for short-time vulcanization and maintaining high-temperature heat resistance without compromising processability.

Benefits of technology

The composition achieves both short-time vulcanization and high-temperature heat resistance, with improved compression set resistance and processability, comparable to amine-cured acrylic rubbers, without the need for processing aids.

Abstract

To provide an acrylic rubber composition that exhibits high-temperature heat-resistance equivalent to that of amine-vulcanizable acrylic rubber composition, even when high-speed vulcanization is possible and secondary vulcanization is omitted or shortened, for example to 0.5 to 1 hour.SOLUTION: There is provided an acrylic rubber composition comprising 0.01 to 15 pts.wt. of a hydrotalcite, and 0.1 to 10 pts.wt. of a quaternary onium salt based on 100 pts.wt. of an acrylic rubber containing active halogen groups and carboxyl groups. This acrylic rubber composition provides a high-temperature heat-resistant material with excellent processability without adding processing aids or the like.SELECTED DRAWING: None
