AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Cylindrical roller bearings face challenges in maintaining high load capacity while ensuring cage strength and preventing rollers from falling off, especially in harsh conditions or with improper maintenance, and existing solutions compromise rotational performance or require additional processing.

Method used

A cylindrical roller bearing design featuring a cage with annular portions and column portions positioned away from the pitch circle diameter, equipped with engaging and engaged portions to secure rollers, made from iron-based materials or resin, facilitating easy assembly and reducing wear.

Benefits of technology

Ensures cage strength and prevents rollers from falling off, simplifies assembly, and reduces manufacturing costs without compromising rotational performance.

Abstract

To provide a cylindrical roller bearing having a cage that both secures the strength of cage column portions and prevents rollers from falling off.SOLUTION: A cylindrical roller bearing (1) comprises an inner ring (2), an outer ring (3), a plurality of cylindrical rollers (4) interposed so as to freely roll between raceway surfaces of the inner and outer rings (2, 3), and a cage (5) that holds the cylindrical rollers (4). The cage (5) has a pair of annular portions (5a) that are arranged at respective axial ends of the cylindrical rollers (4) and extend in the circumferential direction, and column portions (5b) connecting the annular portions (5a). The column portions (5b) are located on an outer diameter side or an inner diameter side of a pitch circle diameter (P.C.D.) of the cylindrical rollers (4), and engaging portions (6) that protrude axially inward of the pair of annular portions (5a) are formed. Engaged portions (7) that are engaged with the engaging portions (6) are formed at respective axial ends of the cylindrical rollers (4), and the cylindrical rollers (4) are rotatably engaged with the engaging portions (6).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
