Abstract

To provide a method for manufacturing an R-T-B based sintered magnet that has excellent orientation and residual magnetic flux density (Br), and an R-T-B based sintered magnet produced by the method.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an R-T-B based sintered magnet includes the steps of: preparing an R-T-B based raw material powder; mixing the R-T-B based raw material powder and a lubricant to obtain a mixture; compacting the R-T-B based raw material powder in the mixture in a magnetic field to obtain a compact; and sintering the compact to obtain an R-T-B based sintered magnet. The lubricant contains a compound represented by the following formula (1). In the formula (1), Q represents an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, and X1 to X3 each independently represent a monovalent group containing a halogen and containing at least one element selected from the group consisting of nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur, or a halogen.SELECTED DRAWING: None
