To provide titanium oxide particles exhibiting reduced photocatalytic activity and decreased yellow tint.SOLUTION: Titanium oxide particles having all of the following features (1) to (4): (1) having a rutile-type crystal structure; (2) containing Zr in a solid solution state; (3) containing at least one element selected from Group 3 elements and Group 5 elements in a solid solution state; and (4) having a (110) plane spacing of 0.3250 nm or more in the crystal structure.SELECTED DRAWING: None
