Abstract

To provide an image forming apparatus that can achieve both improving the efficiency in discharging toner from a toner cartridge and preventing the occurrence of an image defect.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises a toner amount detection unit, a toner cartridge, a driving unit, a control unit, a temperature detection unit, and a display unit. The control unit executes a first operation of controlling the driving unit to drive to rotate the toner cartridge in a first rotation condition to supply toner to a toner container, and when the amount of toner detected by the toner amount detection unit after the first operation is executed is smaller than a predetermined amount, determines whether to execute a second operation of controlling the driving unit to drive to rotate the toner cartridge in a second rotation condition different from the first rotation condition on the basis of temperature detected by the temperature detection unit, or execute a third operation of controlling the display unit to perform display for urging replacement of the toner container without executing the second operation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
