Abstract
The steam reforming process can include treating the syngas with water-gas shift, water separation, and hydrogen separation by pressure swing adsorption (PSA). Additionally, CO2 can be scrubbed from the syngas prior to PSA. The PSA tail gas containing CH4, CO, and H2 can be recompressed and recycled to the PSA and steam reformer feed for further hydrogen separation, ultimately converting all carbon in the feedstock to CO2 and sending it to a scrubber for separation. Fuel requirements can be met with a portion of the hydrogen product, eliminating stack CO2 emissions.
