Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to an electrolyte injection device for a battery cell, and more particularly, to an electrolyte injection device for a battery cell that can prevent a separator inside the battery cell from folding due to a flow of electrolyte injected into the battery cell during a battery cell transportation process after an electrolyte injection process.

[0002] This application claims the benefit of priority based on Korean Patent Application No. 10-2022-0081391 dated July 1, 2022, and all contents disclosed in the documents of the Korean patent application are incorporated herein by reference. [Background technology]

[0003] Secondary batteries can be classified into prismatic secondary batteries, cylindrical secondary batteries, pouch-shaped secondary batteries, and the like.

[0004] A battery cell constituting a pouch-type secondary battery includes an electrode assembly, a pouch surrounding the electrode assembly, and an electrolyte solution contained within the pouch. The electrode assembly is formed by alternately stacking a plurality of positive and negative electrodes and a plurality of separators interposed between the positive and negative electrodes, and a pair of lead tabs electrically connected to the electrode assembly are exposed to the outside of the pouch.

[0005] In the pouch packaging and electrolyte injection process, the electrode assembly is placed in an aluminum pouch, and then electrolyte is injected into the pouch.

[0006] FIG. 1 is a diagram illustrating a battery cell transfer direction and an electrolyte flow direction in a conventional secondary battery electrolyte injection device.

[0007] 1, in a conventional secondary battery electrolyte injection device 10, a battery cell 11 is placed on a transfer member (also called a "transfer pallet", 12), and both sides of the battery cell 11 are fixed on the transfer member 12 by a jig (13). In this manner, electrolyte is injected into the battery cell 11 whose position is fixed on the transfer member 12, and the battery cell 11 with the electrolyte injected is transferred to a preset position along a predetermined direction M1.

[0008] 1 indicates the direction in which the transfer member 12 is transferred, and indicates the width direction of the battery cell 11 (the direction in which a pair of lead tabs are connected). Additionally, the Z-axis direction is the direction in which the jig 13 fixes both sides of the battery cell 11, and indicates the thickness direction of the battery cell 11 (the direction perpendicular to the width direction). Typically, battery cells 11 are manufactured with a width that is longer than their thickness.

[0009] The flow direction E1 of the electrolyte injected into the battery cell 11 is the same as the transport direction (M1) by the transport member 12, and as shown in FIG. 1, the flow direction E1 of the electrolyte is the same as the width direction (X-axis direction) of the battery cell 11.

[0010] During the process of transferring the battery cell 11 by the transfer member 12, the electrolyte injected into the battery cell 11 undergoes a great deal of shaking (flow) in the width direction of the battery cell 11.

[0011] If the electrolyte flows inside the battery cell 11 in this way, a problem occurs in that the lower end of the separator of the electrode assembly is folded due to the electrolyte flow inside the pouch during transportation. Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0012] An object of the present invention is to provide an electrolyte injection device for a battery cell, which can prevent a separator inside a battery cell from folding due to the flow of electrolyte injected into the battery cell during the process of transporting the battery cell after an electrolyte injection process. [Means for solving the problem]

[0013] In order to solve the above problems, an electrolyte injection device for a battery cell according to one embodiment of the present invention is an electrolyte injection device for injecting an electrolyte into a battery cell including an electrode assembly, a pouch that accommodates the electrode assembly, and a pair of lead tabs exposed to an outside of the pouch and electrically connected to the electrode assembly, the electrolyte injection device including a transfer member arranged to be movable along a first direction, a base member disposed on the transfer member and on which at least one battery cell is mounted, an injection portion for injecting electrolyte into the battery cell positioned on the base member, and a clamping unit arranged on the base member and configured to clamp both sides of the battery cell along the first direction.

[0014] Also, the first direction may be set so as not to be parallel to a second direction connecting a pair of lead tabs of the battery cell.

[0015] In addition, the first direction may be perpendicular to a second direction connecting a pair of lead tabs of the battery cell, where the second direction may be a width direction of the battery cell and the first direction may be a thickness direction of the battery cell.

[0016] The clamping unit may include first and second clamping members for clamping opposite sides of the battery cell facing each other along a first direction.

[0017] Also, the clamping unit may be provided such that a distance between the first and second clamping members is adjustable, i.e., the first clamping member and the second clamping member may be provided such that a distance therebetween is adjustable.

[0018] Specifically, when a battery cell is disposed between a first clamping member and a second clamping member, and the first and second clamping members come into contact with both sides of the battery cell as the distance between the first and second clamping members decreases, the battery cell is clamped. Conversely, when the distance between the first and second clamping members increases and the contact between the first or second clamping member and the battery cell is released, the battery cell is unclamped (also referred to as "unclamped").

[0019] The second clamping member may be provided movably along a first direction on the base member. At this time, the first clamping member may be fixed in position so as not to move on the base member. That is, as the second clamping member is moved toward or away from the first clamping member, the distance between the first and second clamping members may be adjusted.

[0020] In addition, when an external force is applied to the second clamping member, the second clamping member can be moved so that the distance between the first and second clamping members increases, and when the external force applied to the second clamping member is released, the second clamping member can be moved so that the distance between the first and second clamping members decreases.

[0021] The clamping unit may include a support unit for elastically supporting the second clamping member with respect to the base member, and when an external force applied to the second clamping member is released, the second clamping member may be moved by the support unit such that the distance between the first and second clamping members decreases.

[0022] The clamping unit may further include a guide frame to which the second clamping member is fixed and which is provided so as to move in a direction away from the first clamping member when an external force is applied. That is, the second clamping member is fixed to the guide frame, and the guide frame is provided so as to be movable on the base member. At this time, the second clamping member moves together with the guide frame, so that the distance between the second clamping member and the first clamping member on the base member can be adjusted. Also, the guide frame is provided so as to move in a direction toward the first clamping member when the external force is released.

[0023] In addition, the clamping unit may include a push bar connected to the guide frame and protruding outward from the first clamping member. The push bar may extend from the guide frame toward the first clamping member and protrude outward from the first clamping member.

[0024] In addition, when an external force is applied to the push bar, the guide frame may move together with the second clamping member in a direction away from the first clamping member (unclamping direction), and when the external force applied to the push bar is released, the guide frame may move together with the second clamping member in a direction toward the first clamping member (clamping direction).

[0025] Also, the clamping unit may include at least one guide block provided on the base member to guide the movement of the guide frame.

[0026] The support unit is provided to connect the base member and the guide frame, and the guide frame is elastically supported on the base member by the support unit and can move toward the first clamping member along the guide block when an external force applied to the push bar is released.

[0027] The support unit may include a support block fixed to the base member and spaced apart from the guide frame, and an elastic member. The elastic member may be fixed to the support block and the guide frame, respectively, and configured to elastically support the guide frame relative to the support block. For example, the elastic member may be a spring.

[0028] Also, the elastic member may be configured to be stretched when the guide frame is moved in a direction away from the first clamping member, and to be restored when an external force applied to the push bar is released.

[0029] In addition, the guide frame can be moved in a direction approaching the first clamping member by the restoring force of the elastic member.

[0030] Also, the clamping unit may include a pressing member that generates an external force to press the push bar. The pressing member may be configured to apply an external force to the push bar when the transport member reaches a preset position after being moved along a first direction. At this time, the pressing member performs an unclamping operation of the clamping unit with respect to the battery cell at the preset position.

[0031] Also, the first and second clamping members may be provided in a plurality of pieces at predetermined intervals along the second direction connecting the pair of lead tabs of the battery cell.

[0032] In this case, the plurality of first and second clamping members may be provided to clamp a central region and both side edge regions of the battery cell along the second direction, respectively, and the clamping area for the central region of the battery cell may be set to be different from the clamping area for the edge regions.

[0033] Specifically, both sides of one battery cell may be clamped on the base member by a plurality of first clamping members and a plurality of second clamping members.

[0034] For example, both sides of one battery cell may be clamped by three first clamping members and three second clamping members. One side of the battery cell may be supported at the center region and both edge regions by three first clamping members, and the other side of the battery cell may be supported at the center region and both edge regions by three second clamping members. In this case, the clamping members supporting the center region and the clamping members supporting the edge regions may be set to have different sizes. Effect of the Invention

[0035] As described above, the electrolyte injection device for a battery cell according to an embodiment of the present invention has the following advantages.

[0036] By configuring the movement direction of the transport member that transports the battery cells and the flow direction of the electrolyte injected into the battery cells to be the same, it is possible to prevent the electrolyte from flowing along the width direction of the battery cells when the battery cells are transported.

[0037] In addition, during the process of transporting the battery cells after the electrolyte injection process, the separator inside the battery cells can be prevented from being folded due to the flow of the electrolyte injected into the battery cells. [Brief description of the drawings]

[0039] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Hereinafter, an electrolyte injection device for a battery cell according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0040] Furthermore, regardless of the drawing symbols, identical or corresponding components will be given the same or similar reference numbers, and duplicate descriptions thereof will be omitted, and the size and shape of each component illustrated may be exaggerated or reduced for the convenience of explanation.

[0041] FIG. 2 is a perspective view showing an electrolyte injection device 100 for a battery cell according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG.

[0042] The battery cell electrolyte injection device 100 according to one embodiment of the present invention is a device for injecting electrolyte E into a battery cell 200.

[0043] The battery cell 200 includes an electrode assembly 201 , a pouch 203 that houses the electrode assembly 201 , and a pair of lead tabs 202 exposed to the outside of the pouch 203 and electrically connected to the electrode assembly 201 .

[0044] 2, the electrolyte injection device 100 includes a transfer member 104 arranged to be movable along a first direction (M2, z-axis direction), a base member 110 arranged on the transfer member 104 and on which at least one battery cell 200 is mounted, an injection part 400 for injecting electrolyte E into the battery cell 200 positioned on the base member 110, and a clamping unit 120 provided on the base member 110 and configured to clamp both sides 204, 205 of the battery cell 200 along the first direction M2.

[0045] 3, the battery cell 200 has a predetermined width w and thickness t. In this document, a direction parallel to an imaginary line L connecting a pair of lead tabs 202 is referred to as the width w direction of the battery cell 200, and a direction perpendicular to the width w direction of the battery cell 200 is referred to as the thickness t direction of the battery cell 200. Also, as described above, the battery cell 200 has a shape in which the width w is longer than the thickness t.

[0046] 2 and 3, when the battery cell 200 is mounted on the base member 110, the thickness t direction of the battery cell 200 is the same as the first direction M2. Also, according to this embodiment, the battery cell 200 is transferred on the base member 110 in the first direction M2, which is the same as the thickness t direction, with both sides 204, 205 of the battery cell being clamped along the thickness direction.

[0047] In addition, the first direction M2 may be provided so as not to be parallel to a second direction (a direction parallel to an imaginary line L) connecting a pair of lead tabs 202 of the battery cell 200, and preferably, the first direction M2 may be provided so as to be perpendicular to the second direction connecting a pair of lead tabs of the battery cell 200. Here, the second direction may be a width w direction of the battery cell 200, and the first direction M2 may be a thickness t direction of the battery cell 200.

[0048] 2 and 3, in this document, the X-axis direction indicates the width direction of the battery cell 200, the Z-axis direction indicates the thickness direction of the battery cell 200 and the first direction M2, and the Z-axis direction indicates the direction in which the clamping unit 120 fixes both sides of the battery cell 11.

[0049] In addition, the upper end 203a of the pouch 203 indicates an area into which the electrolyte E is injected, and the lower end 203b of the pouch 203 indicates an area that is mounted on the base member 110. When the electrolyte E is injected through the injection part 400, the upper end 203a of the pouch 203 may be in an open state, and the remaining edges of the pouch 203 excluding the lower end 203b and the upper end may be in a sealed state.

[0050] 4 and 5 are perspective views showing the state in which a battery cell 200 is clamped in the electrolyte injection device 100 shown in FIG. 2, FIG. 6 is a plan view of the electrolyte injection device shown in FIG. 5, and FIG. 7 is an enlarged view of portion A shown in FIG. 6.

[0051] 2. FIG. 8 is a view for explaining the transfer direction M2 of the transfer member and the flow direction E2 of the electrolyte in the electrolyte injection device 100 shown in FIG.

[0052] 2 and 8, the flow direction E2 of the electrolyte injected into the battery cell 200 is the same as the transfer direction M2 by the transfer member 104, and the flow direction E2 of the electrolyte is the same as the thickness w direction (Z-axis direction) of the battery cell 200. With this configuration, it is possible to prevent the electrolyte from flowing along the width w direction of the battery cell 200 when the battery cell 200 is transferred, and therefore it is possible to prevent the separator of the electrode assembly 201 inside the battery cell 200 from being folded.

[0053] The structure of the electrolyte injection device 100 will be specifically described with reference to FIGS.

[0054] The transfer member 104 is a member for transferring the battery cell 200 in a preset first direction, and a base member 110 is positioned on the transfer member 104. The transfer member 104 may be provided in the form of a pallet having a flat surface on which the base member 110 is mounted.

[0055] The transport member 104 may be transported by a transport unit 500, which may be of various types and may include, for example, a plurality of rolls or a conveyor belt.

[0056] The battery cells 200 are mounted on the base member 110, and the base member 110 may have a flat plate shape on one side where the battery cells 200 are mounted.

[0057] In addition, at least one battery cell 200 is fixed in position on the base member 110 by a clamping unit 120. The clamping unit 120 is provided to clamp the battery cell 200 at both sides 204 and 205 of the battery cell 200.

[0058] The clamping unit 120 may include a first clamping member 122 and a second clamping member 124 for clamping both sides 204, 205 of the battery cell 200 facing each other along a first direction M2, respectively. The clamping unit 120 also includes a guide frame 126 to which the second clamping member 124 is fixed.

[0059] The first clamping member 122 and the second clamping member 124 may be provided in a plurality of pieces at predetermined intervals along a second direction (width direction of the battery cell) connecting a pair of lead tabs 202 of the battery cell 200. That is, the plurality of first and second clamping members may be provided to clamp a central region and both side edge regions of the battery cell along the second direction, respectively.

[0060] Both sides 204 , 205 of one battery cell 200 on the base member 110 may be clamped by a plurality of first clamping members 122 and a plurality of second clamping members 124 .

[0061] In addition, by clamping the central region and both edge regions along the width direction of the battery cell 200, the lower end of the separator 103 inside the battery cell 200 can be prevented from being folded during transportation.

[0062] The first clamping member 122 supports one surface 204 of the battery cell 200, and the second clamping member 124 supports the other surface 205 of the battery cell 200 while being spaced apart from the first clamping member 122 by a predetermined distance.

[0063] Also, the first clamping member 122 and the second clamping member 124 may be provided such that the distance therebetween is adjustable. To this end, the first clamping member 122 may be fixed onto the base member 110, and the second clamping member 124 may be movably mounted on the base member 110.

[0064] Accordingly, the second clamping member 124 may be configured to move toward or away from the first clamping member 122 when an external force is applied thereto.

[0065] Meanwhile, when one battery cell 200 is clamped by a plurality of second clamping members 124, the plurality of second clamping members 124 are mounted on the guide frames 126, respectively.

[0066] The guide frame 126 guides the movement of the second clamping members 124 and moves the second clamping members 124 together.

[0067] For example, the guide frame 126 may be connected to the plurality of second clamping members 124 by the connection block 127, or the guide frame 126 may be directly connected to the plurality of second clamping members 124 without the connection block 127.

[0068] In addition, when an external force is applied to the guide frame 126 , the guide frame 126 and the plurality of second clamping members 124 connected to the guide frame 126 may move together in a direction away from the first clamping members 122 .

[0069] Meanwhile, the clamping unit 120 may include a push bar 128 connected to a guide frame 126 and protruding outward from the first clamping member 122. When an external force is applied to the push bar 128, the guide frame 126 moves together with the push bar. That is, the push bar 128 is connected to the guide frame 126 and has one end protruding outward from the first clamping member 122.

[0070] When the push bar 128 is pressed P in a direction toward the second clamping member 124, the guide frame 126 is moved in a direction away from the battery cell 200, i.e., in a direction M away from the first clamping member 122, thereby widening the gap between the first clamping member 122 and the second clamping member 124.

[0071] At this time, when the gap between the first clamping member 122 and the second clamping member 124 becomes wider, the clamping of the battery cell 200 by the first clamping member 122 and the second clamping member 124 is released, making it possible to unload the battery cell 200 from the base member 110.

[0072] Meanwhile, the guide frame 126 may be provided to move along the thickness direction of the battery cell 200 (Z direction in the drawing).

[0073] In addition, the clamping unit 120 may include at least one guide block 112 provided on the base member 110 to guide the movement of the guide frame 126 .

[0074] The guide frame 126 can be moved along the guide block 112, and although the guide block 112 is provided on the base member 110, the lower end of the guide frame 126 can be inserted into the guide block 112 to guide the movement of the guide frame.

[0075] In addition, the clamping unit 120 may include a support unit 130 for elastically supporting the second clamping member 124 with respect to the base member 110. At this time, when the external force applied to the second clamping member 124 is released, the second clamping member 124 may be moved by the support unit 130 so that the distance between the first and second clamping members decreases. That is, the second clamping member 124 is moved in a direction approaching the first clamping member.

[0076] For example, the guide frame 126 may be elastically supported at both ends on the base member 110 by the support units 130 and is configured to move toward and away from the first clamping member 122 along the guide block 112 .

[0077] When an external force P is applied to the push bar 128, the guide frame 126 may be moved along the guide block 112 in a direction M away from the first clamping member 122, and when the external force applied to the push bar 128 is released, the guide frame 126 may be moved along the guide block 112 in a direction toward the first clamping member 122.

[0078] The support unit 130 is fixed to the base member 110 and may include a support block 132 and an elastic member 134 that are disposed at a predetermined distance from the guide frame 126 .

[0079] The support block 132 is fixed to the base member 110 and disposed at a predetermined distance from the guide frame 126. A first fixing portion 133 is formed on the support block 132, and one end of an elastic member 134 is fixed to the first fixing portion 133.

[0080] The elastic member 134 may be fixed to the support block 132 and the guide frame 126, respectively, and provided to elastically support the guide frame 126 relative to the support block 132. For example, the elastic member 134 may be a spring that connects the support block 132 and the guide frame 126.

[0081] In addition, the elastic member 134 may be provided to be pulled when an external force is applied to the push bar 128 and the guide frame 126 is moved in a direction away from the first clamping member 122, and to be restored when the external force applied to the push bar is released. In addition, the guide frame 126 may be moved in a direction toward the first clamping member 122 due to the restoring force of the elastic member 134.

[0082] 7, one end of the elastic member 134 is fixed to a first fixing portion 133 of a support block 132, and the other end is fixed to a guide frame 126. The guide frame 126 is formed with a second fixing portion 113 to which the other end of the elastic member 134 is fixed.

[0083] Also, the first fixing portion 133 and the second fixing portion 113 may be configured in various ways as long as both ends of the elastic member 134 can be fixed and locked.

[0084] As an external force is applied to the push bar 128, the guide frame 126 moves in a direction away from the battery cell 200. When the external force applied to the push bar 128 is then released, the guide frame 126 returns to its original position due to the restoring force of the elastic member 134, and the battery cell 200 is clamped again by the first clamping member 122 and the second clamping member 124.

[0085] Furthermore, by adjusting the length of the elastic member 134, the length by which the guide frame 126 and the second clamping member 124 are moved in a direction away from the first clamping member 122 can be adjusted.

[0086] In addition, the electrolyte injection device 100 may further include a pressure member 140. The pressure member 140 performs a function of applying an external force to the push bar 128. The pressure member 140 may be provided on one side of the transfer member 104 and disposed to press the push bar 128.

[0087] In particular, the pressure member 140 may be provided to pressurize the push bar 128 when it is sensed that the transfer member 104 is moved in a preset first direction and the push bar 128 has reached a preset position, i.e., a preset position for unclamping the battery cell 200. For example, a sensor capable of sensing the position of the transfer member 104 may be provided adjacent to the pressure member 140.

[0088] As an example, the pressure member 140 may be a cylinder, but is not limited thereto.

[0089] The above-described preferred embodiments of the present invention have been disclosed for illustrative purposes, and those skilled in the art having ordinary skill in the art will be able to make various modifications, changes, and additions within the spirit and scope of the present invention, and such modifications, changes, and additions should be considered to fall within the scope of the following claims. [Industrial Applicability]
