Abstract

The apparatus for estimating a quality parameter for a product or feed of an organic matter processing comprises a measurement device (301) for repeatedly measuring the density and temperature of the product or feed, and a data processing system (302) for calculating an estimate for the quality parameter based on an estimation equation whose input variables include the measured density and temperature. The data processing system is configured to repeatedly receive experimental test results indicative of the quality parameter, and to repeatedly update model parameters of the estimation equation based on the received experimental test results and based on the density and temperature of the product or feed corresponding to the received experimental test results. Because the data processing system is configured to repeatedly update the model parameters based on the experimental test results, there is no need for remodeling or other adjustments to the estimation equation.
