Abstract

This application discloses an encoding method and apparatus, a decoding method and apparatus, a device, a storage medium, and a computer program product, which belong to the field of encoding and decoding technology. When probability estimation is performed in the encoding and decoding process, the probability distribution of the unquantized image feature is estimated based on the hyper-prior feature of the unquantized image feature through a first probability distribution estimation network, and then the probability distribution of the quantized image feature is obtained through quantization. Alternatively, the probability distribution of the quantized image feature is directly estimated based on the hyper-prior feature of the unquantized image feature through a second probability distribution estimation network (a network obtained by performing a simple process on the network parameters of the first probability distribution estimation network). Even in a multi-bitrate scenario, the numerical range of the unquantized image feature is not affected by the quantization step and is stable. Therefore, it is not very difficult to train the first probability distribution estimation network based on the unquantized image feature, and a network with stable and good performance can be obtained through training. This helps to improve the encoding and decoding performance.
