Winged capsule device and method

Abstract

An exemplary winged capsule for delivering a substance to an animal is provided. The winged capsule can include a capsule defining a central axis and an interior space adapted to accommodate the substance. The capsule retainer can include a central wing connected to the capsule, and a wing connected to the central wing and extending laterally from the central wing. At least a first wing of the wings can include a first side edge rib, a second side edge rib, and an intermediate longitudinal rib disposed between the first and second side edge ribs. The intermediate longitudinal rib can extend laterally further from the central axis than the first and second side edge ribs. In one aspect, the thickness of the first wing can vary continuously from a first rib end of the first wing to a second rib end of the first wing. In another aspect, the side edge rib can extend continuously from the central wing to a distal end of the first wing.
