Formulations for Transdermal Delivery

Abstract

A stable microemulsion capable of containing a wide range of water contents can be prepared using an organic mixture containing: a) 5 to 60 weight percent of an aliphatic alcohol or fatty acid ester; b) 14 to 40 weight percent of ethoxylated castor oil; c) 20 to 65 weight percent of a co-solvent selected from the group consisting of lower alkyldiethylene glycol ethers, lower alkyltriethylene glycol ethers, and propylene glycol diacetate; and d) 5 to 25 weight percent of a chemical penetration enhancer for the skin.
