AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional anastomosis clips with sharp tips can damage connected tubes or surrounding tissues during and after the anastomosis procedure.

Method used

The anastomosis clip features a bifurcated fork with tapered ends that are protected by associated support regions, ensuring that the sharp tips are not exposed to damage tissues.

Benefits of technology

The clip effectively prevents damage to the anastomotic tubes and surrounding tissues by ensuring the sharp tips are protected and supported, enhancing the safety and reliability of the anastomosis procedure.

Abstract

The present invention relates to anastomosis clips (100, 200) for connecting a first tube to the side wall of a second tube. The clip comprises a bifurcated fork (2) having a fork base (3) and two fork branches (4, 5) extending therefrom to a tapered end (6) having a sharp tip (7), a ring (1), and a clamping structure (10, 60) for clamping the fork towards the ring. The ring and the fork are movable relative to each other from an open position to a closed position. In the closed position, the fork branches extend along the ring surface. The ring has associated support regions (21, 22) for each of the fork branches. In the closed position, the tapered portions of the fork branches are supported by the associated support regions such that the sharp tips are protected by the associated support regions.
