Detailed Description of the Invention

[0001] The present invention relates to sunscreen compositions containing bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine (BEMT), diethylhexyl sebacate, and one or more alkanediols, provided that the sunscreen compositions are free of ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate. The compositions exhibit reduced soaping effects and therefore a more appealing skin feel and appearance.

[0002] Sunscreens should be effective and safe. In this regard, sunscreens contain different UVB and UVA filters. Among these UV filters, bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine (BEMT) is particularly advantageous because it is a broad-spectrum UV absorber that absorbs both UVB and UVA rays and is highly photostable. Overall, based on the maximum concentration permitted by European law, it is currently considered to be the most effective UV absorber available, as measured by SPF.
