Failure Detection Mechanism

Abstract

An exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure relates to fault detection. In this solution, a first device receives a reference signal configuration from a second device. The reference signal configuration indicates a set of opportunities for monitoring a set of reference signals. The first device also receives information indicating a change in transmission of the reference signals. The first device performs a predetermined action related to fault detection. For example, based on the information, if a reference signal is not transmitted at one of the set of opportunities or if the reference signal is transmitted with reduced transmission power, the first device can perform the predetermined action. In this way, false fault declarations can be avoided. Furthermore, if a network device determines not to transmit a reference signal to save power, erroneous resetting of a fault detection counter due to the absence of a reference signal can be avoided.
