Claims

1. (a) 1,3-propanediol in a concentration of approximately 1 ppm to 10 ppm; and (b) Sweeteners selected from the group consisting of sucrose, high-fructose corn syrup, erythritol, allulose, and tagatose, in a concentration of approximately 18,000 ppm to approximately 62,000 ppm. A sweetener composition containing [the specified ingredient].

2. A food, beverage, confectionery, or concentrate composition comprising the sweetener composition described in claim 1.

3. A food, beverage, confectionery, or concentrate composition containing a sweetener composition, wherein the sweetener composition is (a) 1,3-propanediol in concentrations of approximately 600 ppm to 1,000 ppm; and (b) Sweeteners selected from the group consisting of stevia Reb A97 and stevia Reb M95, in a concentration of approximately 90 ppm to approximately 400 ppm. A food, beverage, confectionery, or concentrate composition comprising essentially the sweetener composition, wherein the sweetener composition is present in the food, beverage, confectionery, or concentrate composition in an amount ranging from 600 ppm to 3,000 ppm.

A method for improving the sweetness of a sweetener and / or reducing its bitterness, (a) A step of providing a sweetener selected from the group consisting of stevia Reb A97 and stevia Reb M95 in a concentration of approximately 90 ppm to approximately 400 ppm; and (b) A step of adding 1,3-propanediol in an amount of approximately 600 ppm to approximately 1,000 ppm to a sweetener to form a sweetener composition consisting of 90 ppm to approximately 400 ppm of sweetener and approximately 600 ppm to approximately 1,000 ppm of 1,3-propanediol. A method comprising, thereby, the sweetener composition having improved sweetness and / or bitterness compared to a sweetener that does not contain the aforementioned amount of 1,3-propanediol.
