Abstract

A microRNA sensing platform is disclosed that is highly sensitive, highly accurate, easy to use, and affordable, requiring no expensive equipment on the part of the end user. This sensing system can be used as a highly sensitive and highly accurate microRNA profiling platform for monitoring disease progression, treatment regimens, personalized diagnosis, or personalized prognosis. The entire RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) harbors mature microRNAs and is maintained within the system. This RISC can perform its native function, which not only protects the microRNA from degradation during the isolation process but can also help eliminate false targets. The system responds sensitively and selectively to the presence or absence of a RISC carrying the target microRNA.
