Abstract

A polymeric ion-selective electrode (ISE) sensor and a polymeric membrane therefor for use in a blood gas analyzer for blood gas testing are disclosed. The polymeric ion-selective electrode sensor is selective for monovalent cations and includes a polymeric membrane having a chemical composition including a boron-containing salt and at least one monovalent-selective ionophore. Additionally, a polymeric ion-selective membrane and a method for minimizing benzalkonium (BK) interference in the ion-selective electrode sensor are also provided, as are other aspects.
