Anti-reflective coating for metasurfaces

Abstract

To provide an anti-reflective coating for a suitable metasurface. [Solution] Anti-reflective coatings for metasurfaces are described herein. In some embodiments, a metasurface may include a substrate, a plurality of nanostructures thereon, and an anti-reflective coating disposed across the nanostructures. The anti-reflective coating may be a transparent polymer, for example, a photoresist layer, and may have a refractive index lower than that of the nanostructure and higher than that of the upper medium (e.g., air). Advantageously, the anti-reflective coating can reduce or eliminate afterimages in an augmented reality display in which the metasurface is incorporated.
