[Claim 1] Until now, multi-bracket orthodontic treatment has used metal archwires made of stainless steel or nickel-titanium. These wires themselves lack elasticity and tensile strength, requiring other traction devices. Polyurethane rubber archwires, however, possess elasticity and tensile strength, allowing them to exert traction force to move teeth, especially posteriorly, without the need for other traction devices. This reduces discomfort in the patient's mouth and simplifies the treatment procedure. Furthermore, considering its use for patients with metal allergies and the fact that the rubber is transparent or nearly white, making it aesthetically inconspicuous, we devised a polyurethane rubber archwire. ▲1▼Shape: A polyurethane rubber arch wire with a circular shape at one end and a straight end at the other. ▲2▼Device and materials used: The rubber wire is made of polyurethane rubber, a material currently used for other purposes in the oral cavity. ▲3▼Method of generating orthodontic force: A polyurethane rubber archwire with a circular tip is hooked onto a tube set on the first or second molar, and the opposite polyurethane rubber archwire with a straight tip is tied to the hook on the opposite tube.
