Abstract

It reduces the number of required components, offers superior strength, and ensures sufficient exhaust gas flow path, thereby improving exhaust gas purification efficiency. [Solution] The metal plate 9 has a convex portion 11 that protrudes to the surface side of the metal plate and forms a gas passage, and another convex portion 12 that is recessed to the back side and forms a gas passage, with the portions separated by the cuts forming through holes 16. The convex portion 11 and the concave portion 12 are formed alternately in at least one of the vertical and horizontal directions, aligned via predetermined flat connecting portions 13. Multiple metal plates 9, each with a catalyst attached to the surface and back sides including the convex portion 11 and the concave portion 12, are stacked such that the convex portions 11 and the concave portions 12 are offset from each other in the horizontal direction, and adjacent metal plates 9 in the stacking direction are joined and connected at least by the connecting portions 13.
