Vibration suppression device

Abstract

To provide a vibration suppression device that is compact yet can effectively suppress vertical vibrations. [Solution] The vibration suppression device according to the present invention is installed between an upper structural member and a lower structural member that are displaced relative to each other in the vertical direction of a structure. This vibration suppression device comprises an outer cylinder formed in the shape of a bottomed cylindrical body opening upward and having its lower end connected to the lower structural member; an inner cylinder formed in the shape of a cylindrical body opening upward and having its lower end connected to the lower structural member; a middle cylinder formed in the shape of a cylindrical body opening downward and having its upper end connected to the upper structural member, and being inserted from above between the outer cylinder and the inner cylinder, and being positioned with a predetermined distance between the inner surface of the outer cylinder and the outer surface of the inner cylinder; and a viscous body filled inside the outer cylinder and existing between the middle cylinder, the outer cylinder and the inner cylinder, wherein the inner cylinder has an opening that allows the viscous body to move between the inside and outside of the inner cylinder.
