Abstract

To accurately measure the meandering of steel plates while keeping equipment and maintenance costs down. [Solution] The meandering measuring device includes a laser distance meter that measures the distance to a point on the surface of a steel plate, and a calculation processing unit that measures the meandering of the steel plate based on the distance measured by the laser distance meter. When the laser distance meter scans the steel plate from the front to the back in the depth direction, the calculation processing unit considers the value of the distance measured by the laser distance meter just before it changes from being included in the set distance range of the i-th column held in the set distance range holding unit to being outside the set distance range to correspond to the position of the edge of the i-th column steel plate. When the laser distance meter scans from the back to the front, the value when it changes from being outside the set distance range of the i-th column to being included in the set distance range is considered to correspond to the position of the edge of the i-th column steel plate. Based on the acquired distance and the irradiation direction of the laser beam corresponding to that distance, the calculation processing unit calculates the position of the edge of the i-th column steel plate.
