Abstract
This provides a new method and system for automated transaction transfer using RFID-enabled carts and self-checkout terminals. [Solution] The system includes an RFID tag attached to each shopping cart to uniquely identify it, and an RFID reader placed near a self-checkout terminal. When a customer scans items using a mobile device or the smart cart system, the transaction is built on a central server. When the cart approaches an empty self-checkout terminal, the system automatically detects the cart's presence via the RFID tag and seamlessly transfers the transaction to the terminal for payment completion. This improves checkout efficiency and throughput, reduces the risk of inventory loss, and enhances the customer experience without requiring the customer to remove items from the cart.
