Abstract
In a circuit in which multiple smoothing capacitors are connected in series, this invention provides a smoothing circuit that can absorb variations in the capacitance of the smoothing capacitors, optimize the voltage applied to the smoothing capacitors, and extend the lifespan of the smoothing capacitors. [Solution] Multiple smoothing capacitors are connected in series between a pair of power lines. A balancing circuit is connected in parallel to each of the smoothing capacitors. The balancing circuit consists of a series circuit of a balancing resistor and a switching element.
