AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing electrical connection boxes face challenges with cumbersome terminal assembly due to the need to rotate terminals around bends, leading to misalignment and compromised waterproofing due to mold holes.

Method used

The electrical junction box features a retaining component with a recessed-recessed fitting structure, where a water-stopping projection on one part fits into a recess on another, allowing easy assembly and reducing terminal misalignment while preventing water ingress through through-holes.

Benefits of technology

This design enhances productivity and retention performance for wires with terminals, improving assembly workability and ensuring superior waterproofing by minimizing terminal displacement and sealing through-holes.

Abstract

To provide an electrical junction box that offers excellent productivity, superior retention performance for wires with terminals, and superior waterproofing. [Solution] The electrical connection box 1 comprises a main body 10, a side cover 20, and an electric wire 30 with terminals. The terminal 50 has a plate-shaped terminal portion 51 with a bent portion 54, and the terminal portion 51 extends in a predetermined direction toward the mating terminal 14. The side cover 20 comprises a first component 60 having a first retaining surface 65 facing one surface 54a of the bent portion 54 of the terminal 50, and a second component 70 to which the first component 60 is assembled and which has a second retaining surface 76 facing the other surface 54b of the bent portion 54 and a through hole 92 that communicates the inside and outside of the main body 10. A recessed-recessed interlocking structure is formed on the side of the periphery of the through hole 92 that is facing the predetermined direction, in which a water-stopping projection 93 of one of the first and second components 60 and 70 is fitted into a water-stopping recess 94 of the other.
