Summary of the Invention
Problems to be Solved by the Invention
[0005] However, in the ceramide dispersion composition described in Patent Document 1, there is room for improvement in terms of hair strength, hair softness, hair and skin moisture content, etc. An object of the present invention is to provide a composition containing ceramide that can improve hair strength, hair softness, and hair and skin moisture content.
Means for Solving the Problems
[0006] The present invention relates to the following ceramide complex-containing composition. A ceramide complex-containing composition comprising a ceramide complex comprising ceramide, a dihydric alcohol, and an amphoteric surfactant.
Effects of the Invention
[0007] The ceramide complex-containing composition of the present invention can improve hair strength, hair flexibility, and hair and skin moisture content. [Modes for carrying out the invention]
[0008] <Ceramide complex-containing composition> A ceramide complex-containing composition according to an embodiment of the present invention (hereinafter also referred to as "the composition") comprises ceramide, a dihydric alcohol, and an amphoteric surfactant. When ceramide is in a complex state, it can improve hair strength, hair flexibility, and hair and skin moisture content compared to when ceramide is contained alone. This is thought to be because the complex state of ceramide with amphoteric surfactant enhances the adsorption of ceramide to the hair and skin surfaces, and the penetration of amphoteric surfactant into the hair and skin interiors. It is presumed that ceramide forms an ionic complex in the composition. Amphoteric surfactants have both positive and negative ion properties, and ceramide has positive ion properties. In this composition, it is thought that the positive ions of ceramide and the negative ions of the amphoteric surfactant interact ionically to form a complex. In this complex, the positive ions of the amphoteric surfactant do not participate in the interaction with ceramide, so the ceramide complex as a whole has positive ion properties. Here, since the hair and skin surfaces are generally negatively charged, the positively charged ceramide complex is more likely to adsorb to the hair and skin surfaces due to ionic interactions. As a result, the combined amphoteric surfactant penetrates into the hair and skin, and the ceramide ionically combined with the amphoteric surfactant is thought to remain more strongly on the hair and skin surfaces. Therefore, it is thought that improvements in hair strength, hair flexibility, and hair and skin moisture content can be obtained compared to when ceramide is contained alone.
[0009] One reason why the ceramide dispersion composition described in Patent Document 1 does not produce the effects such as hair strength as in the present invention is that, according to the method of producing the composition described in Patent Document 1, the ceramide does not form a complex in the composition. As will be described later, in order for ceramide to form a complex in the composition according to the present invention, it is preferable not to add water when dispersing ceramide in a dihydric alcohol. Patent Document 1 describes that a ceramide dispersion composition can be obtained by mixing an aqueous phase component containing a polyhydric alcohol with an oil phase component containing ceramide. Furthermore, another reason why the ceramide dispersion composition described in Patent Document 1 does not produce the same effects as the present invention is thought to be that the polyhydric alcohol substantially used in Patent Document 1 is glycerin, i.e., a trihydric alcohol. In contrast, the present composition uses a dihydric alcohol, which allows for better penetration of the amphoteric surfactant into the hair and skin than a trihydric alcohol. This is presumed to be because using a dihydric alcohol results in higher dispersibility of ceramide and amphoteric surfactant than using a trihydric alcohol, allowing for the formation of an optimal complex.
[0010] In this composition, ceramides with a naturally derived structure are preferred. Ceramides with a naturally derived structure may be extracted from nature, or obtained by fermentation and / or synthesis. Examples of naturally derived ceramides include ceramide 1, ceramide 2, ceramide 3, ceramide 4, ceramide 5, ceramide 6B, and ceramide 7, which differ in the structure of sphingosine and long-chain fatty acids. Two or more of these may be used in mixtures. Of these, ceramide 1, ceramide 2, ceramide 3, ceramide 5, and ceramide 6B are preferred from the viewpoint of availability, and ceramide 2 and ceramide 3, which are known to be the main components of ceramide in hair, are more preferred, with ceramide 2 being the most preferred. Commercially available ceramides may also be used.
[0011] Examples of dihydric alcohols in this composition include propylene glycol, 1,3-propanediol, dipropylene glycol, 1,3-butylene glycol, 2,3-butylene glycol, 1,2-pentanediol, 1,5-pentanediol, isoprene glycol, hexylene glycol, 1,2-hexanediol, and 1,6-hexanediol. Two or more of these may be used in combination. Of these, dipropylene glycol is particularly preferred from the viewpoint of usability and dispersibility.
[0012] Examples of amphoteric surfactants in this composition include glycine-type amphoteric surfactants, betaine-type amphoteric surfactants, amine oxide-type amphoteric surfactants, lecithins, and the like. Examples of glycine-type amphoteric surfactants include sodium cocoamphoacetate, sodium lauroamphoacetate, and sodium cocanphodiacetate. Examples of betaine-type amphoteric surfactants include aminoacetic acid betaine-type surfactants and sulfobetaine-type surfactants. Examples of aminoacetic acid betaine-type surfactants include cocamidopropyl betaine, lauramidopropyl betaine, myristamidopropyl betaine, palm kernel fatty acid amidopropyl betaine, lauryl betaine, and cocobetaine. Examples of sulfobetaine-type surfactants include lauryl hydroxysultaine, lauramidopropyl hydroxysultaine, and cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine. Examples of amine oxide-type amphoteric surfactants include lauramine oxide and lauramidopropylamine oxide. Examples of lecithins include lecithin, lysolecithin, hydrogenated lecithin, and hydrogenated lysolecithin. Two or more amphoteric surfactants may be used in combination. Of these, betaine-type surfactants are preferred from the viewpoint of usability and irritation, aminoacetic acid betaine-type surfactants and sulfobetaine-type surfactants are more preferred, and cocamidopropyl betaine is particularly preferred.
[0013] In this composition, the ratio of ceramide to amphoteric surfactant is preferably 6:1 to 1:6 in molar ratio, more preferably 5:1 to 1:5, particularly preferably 3:1 to 1:3, and most preferably 1:1. Having the molar ratio of ceramide to amphoteric surfactant within this range is preferable because it results in less residue that does not form complexes, and allows for effective adsorption and penetration.
[0014] In this composition, the proportion of dihydric alcohol is preferably 80% to 99% by mass, more preferably 85% to 95% by mass, and particularly preferably 88% to 92% by mass. Having the proportion of dihydric alcohol within this range is effective and preferable in terms of dispersibility and stability.
[0015] In this composition, the ceramide, the dihydric alcohol, and the amphoteric surfactant are thought to form a complex as described above. More specifically, it is thought that the ceramide and the amphoteric surfactant are dispersed in the viscous liquid dihydric alcohol, mainly through ionic interactions, forming a complex. Furthermore, since particles with a particle size of 10 to 100 μm have been confirmed by polarized light observation and light scattering measurements of this composition under a microscope, the size of the complex is estimated to be approximately 10 to 100 μm. It is presumed that by including such a complex in this composition, the ceramide becomes more easily dispersed, making it easier to disperse when incorporated into cosmetics, and improving its adsorption to the surface of hair and skin.
[0016] The ceramide complex in this composition may contain other components besides the ceramide, dihydric alcohol, and amphoteric surfactant mentioned above. Examples of other components include cationic surfactants, anionic surfactants, nonionic surfactants, cationic polymers, anionic polymers, and nonionic polymers. The proportion of other components is preferably 0.01 to 5% by mass.
[0017] This composition may contain components other than the ceramide complex, as long as it does not deviate from the effects of the present invention. For example, residual ceramides not involved in the ceramide complex, amphoteric surfactants, and dihydric alcohols can be mentioned. Moreover, it may contain preservatives, antioxidants, bactericides, chelating agents, and the like.
[0018] From the viewpoint that the ceramide complex is likely to be formed, the water content of this composition is preferably 10% by mass or less, more preferably 5% by mass or less.
[0019] This composition can be obtained by dispersing ceramides and amphoteric surfactants in a dihydric alcohol. The ceramides and amphoteric surfactants may be dispersed simultaneously, or either one may be dispersed first and the other later. Here, when dispersing ceramides in a dihydric alcohol, it is preferable to use ceramides in a solid state and disperse them without adding water. This makes it easier to form a ceramide complex. When water is present during the dispersion of ceramides, it is difficult to form a ceramide complex. The amphoteric surfactant may be in a solid state or an aqueous solution state. When using it in an aqueous solution state, it is preferably mixed after dispersing ceramides in a dihydric alcohol, and it is further preferable to remove water after mixing.
[0020] When dispersing ceramides, it is preferably heated to 85°C to 100°C, more preferably 90°C to 95°C, from the viewpoint of enhancing dispersibility.
[0021] <Cosmetics> This ceramide complex-containing composition is effective in improving the permeability of ceramides into hair and skin, hair strength, hair softness, and the water content of hair and skin, and thus can be formulated into various cosmetics. In the cosmetics of this embodiment, the content of this ceramide complex-containing composition can be selected according to the type of cosmetics, preferably 0.00001 to 10% by mass, more preferably 0.0001 to 1% by mass, and most preferably 0.001 to 0.1% by mass.
