Abstract

This suppresses the occurrence of uneven illumination and patterns in visible color light emitted from optical elements. [Solution] The optical element of the embodiment includes a substrate that transmits first light having a first wavelength band and second light having a second wavelength band different from the first wavelength band, and a first optical layer disposed in a first region on a plane parallel to the first surface on the incident side of the first and second light on the substrate. The refractive index and thickness of the first optical layer are set to transmit first light incident on the first region, and the phase difference between the first light at the centroid wavelength of the first wavelength band that transmits through the first region and the first light at the centroid wavelength that transmits through the second region other than the first region on the plane parallel to the first surface is between -90° and 90°, and to shield the second light incident on the first region.
