The programmable display executes complex processing in conjunction with the video data being played. [Solution] The programmable display (2) comprises a second display unit (20), a second storage unit (22) that stores a video file including video data and character information associated with time information indicating the playback time of the video data, and a second control unit (24). The second control unit (24) displays the video data on the second display unit (20), recognizes the character information as a control code, and executes a function specified by the control code.
