Abstract

This invention provides a method for producing glutamic acid or its salts using electrochemically active bacteria. [Solution] A method for producing glutamic acid or a salt thereof is provided, comprising culturing electrochemically active bacteria that have carbon dioxide fixation ability and nitrogen fixation ability and recombinantly express glutamic acid transporters in a culture medium in the presence of carbon dioxide and a nitrogen source, thereby causing the bacteria to excrete glutamic acid or its ions or salts into the culture medium.
