Patterned articles containing metal bodies

Abstract

Regarding patterned articles, including those made of metal. [Solution] The patterned article includes a polymer layer, which defines a plurality of through-openings within it. The metal body has a first outermost surface, a second outermost surface on the opposite side, and at least one transverse sidewall extending between them. The first outermost surface of the metal body is substantially coplanar with the first main surface of the polymer layer. Each transverse sidewall extends from the first outermost surface of the metal body toward or to the second main surface of the polymer layer, but not beyond the second main surface. The metal body has substantially the same extent as the through-openings in at least one cross-section parallel to the polymer layer. The metal bodies can be electrically insulated from one another.
