Abstract

This paper provides a new treatment for iron deficiency anemia and a method to mitigate the side effects of existing treatments. [Solution] The present inventors, after diligent research to solve the above problems, have found that by using iron supplements and Ninjin-yoeito (a traditional Japanese herbal medicine) in combination for iron deficiency anemia, the dosage of iron supplements can be reduced while maintaining therapeutic effects, and side effects can be reduced as iron is less likely to accumulate in the duodenum. The present invention provides a drug containing Ninjin-yoeito for reducing the amount of iron supplements used in the treatment, improvement, or prevention of iron deficiency anemia. The present invention also provides an iron absorption enhancer containing Ninjin-yoeito.
