Abstract
Description
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present invention relates to a vehicle seat in which a seat cushion serving as a seat portion is supported to be raisable and lowerable with respect to a vehicle via a hinge mechanism.
BACKGROUND ART
[0002] A related art is described in Patent Document 1. In this vehicle, a vehicle seat is installed on the vehicle compartment floor. The vehicle seat is adjacent to a rear wheel house provided on the right side portion of the vehicle compartment. Here, in the vehicle seat, a seat back serving as a backrest is connected to the seat cushion serving as the seat portion so as to be raisable and lowerable. The seat cushion is arranged such that a lower surface of the seat cushion faces the vehicle compartment floor in a normal posture where an occupant can be seated, and a leg portion standing from a left end portion of the lower surface to the lower side of the seat is grounded on the vehicle compartment floor. The leg portion is engaged with a striker provided on the vehicle compartment floor by the action of a lock mechanism provided at a lower end portion of the leg portion.
[0003] Here, a right end portion of the seat cushion is connected to the rear wheel house via a hinge mechanism so as to be raisable and lowerable. In the seat configuration described above, after the seat back is tilted forward relative to the seat cushion, the seat cushion can be rotated upward with the hinge mechanism as a base point. As a result, the seat cushion assumes a stored posture in which the seat cushion is raised (stands upright) toward the rear wheel house side, and the lower surface of the seat cushion is arranged so as to face the vehicle compartment. Further, when the seat cushion is raised, the lock between the leg portion and the striker is released. In the seat cushion in the stored posture, the leg portion is tilted toward the lower side of the seat, so that the leg portion is arranged along the lower surface of the seat cushion.

PATENT DOCUMENT 1
[0005] In the seat configuration described above, the underside of the seat cushion in the stowed position is exposed to the passenger compartment along with the legs, making unintended parts of the legs (e.g., the locking mechanism) easily visible. For this reason, it is desirable to avoid unintended external exposure of the legs by covering them with a cover member. However, this type of cover member must be positioned so as not to interfere with other members (e.g., the locking mechanism and striker) in the normal position, and there is a risk that it may not be able to properly cover the legs in the stowed position. The present invention was devised in view of the above points, and the problem that the present invention aims to solve is to enable a cover member to be more appropriately placed over the legs of the seat cushion. [Means for solving the problem]
[0006] As a means to solve the above problems, the vehicle seat of the first invention has a seat cushion that is supported by a hinge mechanism so that it can be raised and lowered relative to the vehicle, so that it can be displaced between a normal position where it is lowered toward the vehicle floor and a stowed position where it is raised away from the vehicle floor. The legs that are raised and lowered relative to the seat cushion are displaced between a state where they are upright between the seat cushion and the vehicle floor in the normal position and a state where they are lowered toward the underside of the seat from the seat cushion, with a cover member covering them. In this type of configuration, it is desirable that the cover member be able to cover the legs of the seat cushion more appropriately. Therefore, the cover member is provided so that it can be raised and lowered in sync with the legs, and the pivot point of the raising and lowering movement of the cover member is located closer to the hinge mechanism than the pivot point of the raising and lowering movement of the legs. In the present invention, by displacing the seat cushion from the normal position to the stowed position, the pivot point of the raising and lowering movement of the cover member is positioned at a lower height than the pivot point of the raising and lowering movement of the legs. According to the above configuration, the relative height position of the cover member with respect to the leg can be changed between the normal posture and the stowed posture, and this cover member can be fitted more appropriately over the leg in the stowed posture while avoiding interference with other members in the normal posture.
[0007] In the vehicle seat of the second invention, the base point for the tilting motion of the cover member is located higher on the seat than the base point for the tilting motion of the leg portion, relative to the seat cushion in the normal position. In the present invention, the relative height position of the cover member with respect to the leg portion can be changed more significantly between the normal position and the stowed position.
[0008] In the vehicle seat of the third invention, the pivot point for the tilting motion of the cover member and the pivot point for the tilting motion of the leg portion are provided on the seat cushion, as in the vehicle seat of the first or second invention. In the present invention, both the leg portion and the cover member are provided on the seat cushion. This makes it possible to more reliably change the relative height position of the cover member with respect to the leg portion by the posture displacement of the seat cushion. [Effects of the Invention]
[0009] According to the first invention of the present invention, the cover member can be more appropriately placed over the leg portion of the seat cushion. According to the second invention, the cover member can be placed over the leg portion even more appropriately. According to the third invention, the cover member can be placed over the leg portion more securely. [Brief explanation of the drawing]

[0011] The embodiments for carrying out the present invention will be described below with reference to Figures 1 to 8. Each figure includes arrows indicating the front-rear direction, left-right direction (vehicle width direction), and up-down direction (vehicle height direction) of the vehicle as appropriate. In Figure 2, for convenience, the cover member is shown transparently, and the legs are shown with solid lines. Figures 7 and 8 are schematic transparent views of the seat cushion seen from the rear side, and the length of the seat cushion is shown shortened for convenience. In Figures 7 and 8, for convenience, the cover member and legs are shown with solid lines, and the other seat components (seat back, etc.) are omitted from the illustration.
[0012] [Overview of the vehicle's passenger compartment] First, let's describe the general layout of the passenger compartment 3 of the vehicle 2 shown in Figure 1. This passenger compartment 3 has wheel wells 4 at both ends in the vehicle width direction (left and right) (for convenience, only the right side of the passenger compartment 3 is shown in Figure 1). On the left side, which is inside the vehicle width direction of the wheel well 4, there is a vehicle seat 10 installed on the passenger compartment floor 5.
[0013] [Vehicle seats] In the vehicle seat 10 shown in Figure 1, the lower part of the seat back 12, which serves as the backrest, is connected to the rear of the seat cushion 11, which serves as the seat portion, via a recliner R so as to be able to be raised and lowered. In this vehicle seat 10, in the normal seating position shown in Figure 1, the seat cushion 11 is tilted toward the vehicle floor 5, and the lower surface of the seat cushion 11 is positioned to face the vehicle floor 5. In the normal seating position, a leg portion 14 provided on the left end of the lower surface of the seat cushion 11 stands upright between the seat cushion 11 and the vehicle floor 5. Here, the leg portion 14 is engaged with the front and rear strikers 5S of the vehicle floor 5 by the action of front and rear locking mechanisms 14R provided at its lower end, referring to Figures 1 and 2 (for convenience, in each figure, the positions of the front and rear locking mechanisms and the front and rear strikers are given common reference numerals).
[0014] Referring to Figures 1 and 3, the right end of the seat cushion 11 is foldably connected to the upper end of the wheelhouse 4 via a hinge mechanism 15. This allows the seat cushion 11 to be displaced between a normal position, where it is folded towards the passenger compartment floor 5, and a stowed position, where it is raised away from the passenger compartment floor 5. In other words, with the above configuration, after the seat back 12 is folded forward relative to the seat cushion 11, the seat cushion 11 can be displaced to a stowed position, raised towards the wheelhouse 4 using the hinge mechanism 15 as a pivot point. When in the stowed position, the left end of the seat cushion 11 is positioned at the upper end, and the leg portion 14 provided on the left end side is folded downwards toward the seat and positioned along the underside of the seat cushion 11.
[0015] In the vehicle seat 10 in the stowed position shown in Figure 3, the lower surface of the seat cushion 11 is exposed to the passenger compartment 3 side along with the legs 14. In this type of seat configuration, unintended parts of the legs 14 (for example, the locking mechanism 14R) tend to be more noticeable. For this reason, the vehicle seat 10 has a cover member 50, which will be described later, that covers the legs 14. It is desirable that this cover member 50 covers the legs 14 appropriately without interfering with other components as much as possible. Therefore, in this embodiment, the cover member 50 is designed to cover the legs 14 of the seat cushion 11 more appropriately by the configuration described later. The configuration of the vehicle seat 10 will be described in detail below, in the order of seat cushion 11, legs 14, and cover member 50.
[0016] [Seat cushion] With reference to Figure 1 and Figure 4, the seat cushion 11 is formed in a rectangular shape elongated in the front-rear direction in top view. In this seat cushion 11, other constituent members, for example, a seat cover (reference numeral omitted) forming the exterior and a seat pad (illustration omitted) that elastically supports the occupant, are supported by the seat frame 20 that forms its skeleton. With reference to Figure 4, the seat frame 20 is a substantially rectangular frame body in top view, and its right end portion is connected to the upper end portion side of the wheel house 4 via the hinge mechanism 15. Inside this hinge mechanism 15, a hinge shaft (illustration omitted) that serves as the base point for the raising and lowering operation of the seat frame 20, and a biasing portion (illustration omitted) that biases the seat frame 20 in the direction of raising it, are incorporated.
[0017] With further reference to Figure 1 and Figure 4, an undercover portion 21 is fixed and integrated with the seat frame 20 on the inner surface side within its frame. Here, the undercover portion 21 is a substantially rectangular frame-shaped member in top view, and an upper cover 22 is connected to its left end portion side so as to be capable of rising and falling. This upper cover 22 is formed in a rectangle elongated in the front-rear direction, so as to be configured to cover the upper side of a leg portion 14 to be described later. A leg portion 14 to be described later is connected to the left end portion of the seat frame 20 so as to be capable of rising and falling, and further, a cover member 50 to be described later is connected to the left end portion of the undercover portion 21 so as to be capable of rising and falling.
[0018] [Leg Portion] With further reference to FIGS. 1 and 4, the leg portion 14 is a plate-shaped member that supports the left end side of the seat cushion 11 in the normal posture as described above. Based on the normal posture, the leg portion 14 is formed in a substantially rectangular shape that is long in the front-rear direction. Further, the upper side of the leg portion 14 has a smaller front-rear dimension than the lower side. The upper portion of the leg portion 14 is covered on its left face side by the upper cover 22 of the undercover portion 21 described above. With reference to FIGS. 5 and 6, the upper end portion of the leg portion 14 is provided with upper bearing portions 30 at the front end and the rear end thereof, respectively, and the portion between the front and rear upper bearing portions 30 is recessed downward (in FIG. 5, for convenience, the front and rear upper bearing portions are denoted by a common reference numeral). A first connecting shaft 41 provided on the left end side of the seat frame 20 is pivotally supported by the front and rear upper bearing portions 30 so as to be vertically rotatable (in FIG. 5, for convenience, the front and rear second connecting shafts are denoted by a common reference numeral). The first connecting shaft 41 is formed in a shaft shape extending in the front-rear direction, and is attached to the seat frame 20 via a bracket 200. A biasing member 201 that biases the leg portion 14 in the opening direction is wound around the first connecting shaft 41. The leg portion 14 is pivotally connected to the front and rear first connecting shafts 41 so as to be vertically rotatable, so that the leg portion 14 can be raised and lowered relative to the (lower surface of the) seat frame 20.
[0019] [Lock Mechanism] Here, with reference to FIGS. 1 and 5, the lower side of the leg portion 14 in the normal posture is exposed from the upper cover 22. As described above, the lower end portion E2 of the leg portion 14 is provided with the lock mechanisms 14R at front and rear positions thereof, respectively. In the seat cushion 11 in the normal posture, the striker 5S of the vehicle compartment floor 5 is pushed into and engaged with the lock mechanism 14R (the recessed portion of the leg portion). When the seat cushion 11 is displaced to the stowed position, the engagement between the lock mechanism 14R and the striker 5S is released by operating an operation portion (not shown) provided on the vehicle seat 10. Subsequently, as the seat cushion 11 is displaced from the normal posture to the stowed posture, the leg portion 14 is tilted to the lower side of the seat and arranged along the lower surface of the seat cushion 11. A cover member 50, which will be described later, covers the lower portion of the leg portion 14, that is, the portion exposed from the upper cover 22.
[0020] [Cover component] Referring to Figures 4 and 5, the cover member 50 has a cover body 51 that covers the lower side of the leg portion 14, and a pair of front and rear connecting portions 52, 53 (details to be described later). Using the normal posture as a reference, the cover body 51 is formed in a roughly rectangular shape when viewed from the side, and its front-to-back dimension L1 is longer than the lower part of the leg portion 14 (the upper and lower dimensions of the cover member 50 will be described later). The front end portion 510 of the cover body 51 is bent into a roughly L-shape in cross-section, extending to the right and then bending to the rear. Similarly, the rear end portion 511 of the cover body 51 extends to the right and then bends to the front, in a manner symmetrical to the front end. The lower part of the leg portion 14 is fitted between the front end portion 510 and the rear end portion 511 of the cover body 51, so that it covers the left side of the leg portion 14.
[0021] Referring to Figures 4 and 5, the cover member 50 in the normal position has a pair of front and rear connecting portions 52 and 53 formed in the shape of strips extending upward from the upper end of the cover body 51. The pair of front and rear connecting portions 52 and 53 are pivotally supported on the under cover portion 21 via a second connecting shaft 42 provided at their upper ends (for convenience, the front and rear second connecting shafts are given the same reference numeral in each figure). That is, the front connecting portion 52, located at the front, is formed to extend upward from the front end 510 of the cover body 51 to the upper side of the seat. Referring to Figures 6 and 7, the front connecting portion 52 is arranged to cross the front of the leg portion 14 from left to right, gradually bending to the right as it moves upward. The second connecting shaft 42, provided at the upper end of the front connecting portion 52, is pivotally supported on the under cover portion 21 so as to be vertically rotatable at a position to the right of the leg portion 14 (the detailed position of the second connecting shaft 42 will be described later). Referring also to Figures 4 and 5, the rear connecting portion 53, located at the rear, is provided symmetrically to the front connecting portion 52 and extends upward from the rear end portion 511 of the cover body 51. The rear connecting portion 53 is also axially connected to the under cover portion 21, similar to the front connecting portion 52.
[0022] Referring to Figures 7 and 8, the cover member 50 described above is pivotally supported by the front and rear second connecting shafts 42 on the under cover portion 21 so as to be vertically rotatable, allowing it to tilt up and down relative to the under cover portion 21 (in the rear view of Figures 7 and 8, the rear connecting portion 53 and the front connecting portion 52 are arranged to overlap from the front and rear). As a result, when the seat cushion 11 changes its posture, the cover member 50 can tilt up and down in synchronization with the leg portion 14. In particular, by providing the first connecting shaft 41 and the second connecting shaft 42 on the seat cushion 11, the leg portion 14 and the cover member 50 can be tilted up and down in synchronization more reliably. Furthermore, as the leg portion 14 is fitted into the cover body 51 of the cover member 50, it can tilt up and down in synchronization with the leg portion 14, i.e., follow it, even more reliably.
[0023] [Position of the pivot point for the raising and lowering motion of the legs and cover members] Referring to Figures 5 and 6, the seat cushion 11 is provided with a first connecting shaft 41, which serves as the pivot point for the tilting motion of the leg portion 14, and a second connecting shaft 42, which serves as the pivot point for the tilting motion of the cover member 50. When the seat cushion 11 in the general position shown in Figure 7 is used as a reference, the first connecting shaft 41 provided on the seat frame 20 is pivotally supported on the left end side of the seat frame 20 and positioned at a predetermined height position H0. On the other hand, the second connecting shaft 42 provided on the cover member 50 (front and rear connecting portion) is pivotally supported on the under cover portion 21 at a higher height position H1 than the first connecting shaft 41. Furthermore, the front connecting portion 52 (rear connecting portion 53) of the cover member 50 is bent so as to cross the leg portion 14 from left to right. As a result, the second connecting shaft 42 provided on the upper end of the front connecting portion 52 (rear connecting portion 53) is positioned closer to the hinge mechanism 15 than the first connecting shaft 41.
[0024] [Seat cushion for normal posture] Referring to Figures 1 and 2, in the normal position, the left end of the seat cushion 11 is supported by the upright leg portion 14. The upper side of this leg portion 14 is covered by the upper cover 22, so that it is not exposed to the passenger compartment 3 as much as possible. On the other hand, the lower side of the leg portion 14 that is exposed from the upper cover 22 is covered by a cover member 50 (in Figure 2, the cover member 50 is shown with a dashed line for convenience). In this embodiment, referring to Figures 2 and 5, the vertical dimension L2 of the cover body 51 is adjusted so that the lower end E1 of the cover member 50 is positioned at a higher height than the lower end E2 of the leg portion 14. As a result, in the normal position, the cover member 50 is less likely to interfere with the locking mechanism 14R and striker 5S provided on the lower end E2 of the leg portion 14.
[0025] [Behavior of vehicle seats] Referring to Figures 7 and 8, the seat cushion 11 is displaced from its normal position to its stowed position by the action of the hinge mechanism 15. In this stowed position, the left end of the seat cushion 11 is positioned at the upper end, and the height position becomes lower the closer it is to the hinge mechanism 15. In the stowed position, the leg portion 14 provided on the left end of the seat cushion 11 is tilted downwards towards the seat, using the first connecting shaft 41 as the pivot point. In this stowed position, it is desirable that the cover member 50 more appropriately covers the leg portion 14 so that unintended parts (such as the locking mechanism 14R) are not excessively exposed. Therefore, in this embodiment, the leg portion 14, with the cover member 50 covering it, is displaced between a state in which it is upright between the seat cushion 11 in its normal position and the vehicle floor 5, and a state in which it is tilted downwards towards the seat from the seat cushion 11 in its stowed position. The cover member 50 is provided so as to be able to be raised and lowered in sync with the leg portion 14, and the pivot point for the raising and lowering movement of the cover member 50 (second connecting shaft 42) is located closer to the hinge mechanism 15 than the pivot point for the raising and lowering movement of the leg portion 14 (first connecting shaft 41). With the above configuration, the cover member 50 can be properly covered by the leg portion 14 in the stowed position while avoiding interference with other members in the normal position. The behavior and function of the cover member 50 will now be explained in more detail.
[0026] [Behavior and function of the cover component] Referring to Figures 7 and 8, when the seat cushion 11 is displaced to the stowed position, the leg portion 14 provided on its left end is tilted downwards towards the seat, using the first connecting shaft 41 as the pivot point. The cover member 50 is also tilted downwards towards the seat in sync with the leg portion 14, using the second connecting shaft 42 as the pivot point. In this embodiment, the second connecting shaft 42, which is the pivot point for the tilting and raising of the cover member 50, is positioned relatively close to the hinge mechanism 15. Therefore, when the seat cushion 11 is displaced to the stowed position, the second connecting shaft 42, which is relatively close to the hinge mechanism 15, is positioned at a lower height than the first connecting shaft 41 (in Figure 8, the height position of the first connecting shaft in the stowed position is indicated by the symbol H2, and the height position of the second connecting shaft is indicated by the symbol H3). With the above configuration, the relative height position of the cover member 50 with respect to the leg portion 14 can be lowered when the seat is in the stowed position. As a result, the cover member 50 can be placed over the lower end E2 of the leg portion 14 when it is in the stowed position, and excessive external exposure of the lower end E2 of the leg portion 14 (locking mechanism 14R, etc.) is avoided as much as possible. In particular, in this embodiment, the vertical positional relationship between the first connecting shaft 41 and the second connecting shaft 42 is reversed between the normal position and the stowed position, and the height position of the second connecting shaft 42 can be changed significantly. Therefore, with the above configuration, the cover member 50 can be properly placed over the leg portion 14 when it is in the stowed position, which contributes to ensuring an excellent appearance of the seat.
[0027] As described above, in this embodiment, by displacing the seat cushion 11 from its normal position to its retracted position, the pivot point for the tilting motion of the cover member 50 is positioned at a lower height than the pivot point for the tilting motion of the leg portion 14. With the above configuration, the relative height position of the cover member 50 with respect to the leg portion 14 can be changed between the normal position and the retracted position, and the cover member 50 can be properly covered by the leg portion 14 in the retracted position while avoiding interference with other members in the normal position. For this reason, according to this embodiment, the cover member 50 can be more properly covered by the leg portion 14 of the seat cushion 11.
[0028] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the relative height position of the cover member 50 with respect to the leg portion 14 can be changed more significantly between the normal posture and the stowed posture time. In this embodiment, both the leg portion 14 and the cover member 50 are provided on the seat cushion 11. This makes it possible to more reliably change the relative height position of the cover member 50 with respect to the leg portion 14 by the posture displacement of the seat cushion 11.
[0029] The vehicle seat of this embodiment is not limited to the embodiment described above, and can take various other forms. In this embodiment, the configuration of the cover member is illustrated, but this is not intended to limit the configuration of the cover member. For example, using the normal posture as a reference, the height position of the base point for the raising and lowering movement of the cover member (second connecting shaft) may be the same as the height position of the base point for the raising and lowering movement of the leg (first connecting shaft), or it may be slightly lower. The second connecting shaft can also be provided in a position relatively close to the hinge mechanism, and if the raising and lowering movement of the cover member is possible, it may be set to the right of the position shown in Figure 7, etc. (a position adjacent to the leg). The cover member only needs to cover the unintended parts of the leg so that they are not conspicuous, and may be configured to cover the entire locking mechanism, etc., or to cover only a part of the locking mechanism, etc. so that it is not conspicuous. The cover member can cover the unintended parts of the leg, and the unintended parts are set according to the seat configuration and are not necessarily limited to the locking mechanism.
[0030] Furthermore, the configuration of the vehicle seat can be modified as appropriate. For example, if the seat cushion does not have an under cover, the legs and cover members can be attached to the seat frame. Also, if the under cover does not have an upper cover, the cover members can be used to cover almost the entire surface of the legs. The configuration of the legs (shape, size, etc.) can also be modified as appropriate, and the configuration of the cover members can be set according to the configuration of the legs. The seat cushion can be installed at an appropriate position in the vehicle via a hinge mechanism. [Explanation of Symbols]
