Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a table top miter saw with an upper table that can be selectively used in a usage mode as a so-called table top miter saw that cuts a workpiece placed on a table at the lower portion of a saw blade, and a usage mode as a so-called table saw that cuts a workpiece placed on an upper table at the upper portion of the saw blade.
Background Art
[0002] Patent Document 1 discloses a table top miter saw with an upper table. The table top miter saw with an upper table has two placement surfaces: a table below the saw blade and an upper table above the saw blade. The table top miter saw with an upper table can be selectively used in a table top miter saw mode for use as a so-called table top miter saw, and a table saw mode for use as a so-called table saw. In the table top miter saw mode, the cutting machine main body is swung downward, so that the lower portion of the rotating saw blade cuts the workpiece placed on the table. In the table saw mode, the workpiece placed on the upper table is fed toward the upper portion of the rotating saw blade protruding above the upper table, thereby cutting the workpiece.
[0003] When using in the table saw mode, the blade cover is attached to the table. The blade cover covers the lower portion of the saw blade exposed downward from the fixed cover of the cutting machine main body. The fixed cover and the blade cover cooperate to cover the saw blade, thereby suppressing the scattering of dust generated from the workpiece cut on the upper table. For example, a dust collection port is provided at the rear portion of the cutting machine main body, and a hose or the like extending from a separately prepared dust collector is connected to the dust collection port. For example, by communicating the rear portion of the blade cover with the dust collection port, dust can be discharged to the dust collector. As disclosed in Patent Document 1, the conventional blade cover has room for improvement in the shielding performance for covering the periphery of the saw blade, the dust collection capability for guiding dust to the dust collection port, and the like.

[0004] [Patent Document 1] Chinese Patent Application Publication No. 101947669 Specification [Overview of the project] [Problems that the invention aims to solve]
[0005] Therefore, a tabletop circular saw with an upper table that can suppress dust scattering is needed. [Means for solving the problem]
[0006] According to one feature of this disclosure, a tabletop circular saw with an upper table comprises a cutting machine body, an upper table, and a blade cover. The cutting machine body is positioned to pivot up and down around the rear upper part of the table and is fitted with a saw blade. The upper table is positioned above the cutting machine body, with the upper part of the saw blade protruding from it. The blade cover is removablely fitted to the top surface of the table when the cutting machine body is held at the bottom dead center and covers the saw blade. The blade cover comprises left and right side portions, a connecting portion, and a top portion. The left and right side portions cover the left and right sides of the saw blade. The connecting portion connects the left and right side portions. The top portion protrudes toward the saw blade from the top of at least one of the left and right side portions.
[0007] Therefore, when attaching the blade cover to the underside of the cutting machine body in table saw mode, the top surface narrows the gap between the saw blade and the left and right sides. As a result, dust generated during cutting of the workpiece is discharged upward between the saw blade and the blade cover, suppressing scattering. [Brief explanation of the drawing]

[Figure 37] It is a perspective view of the tabletop circular saw with upper table according to the second embodiment of the present disclosure. [Mode for Carrying Out the Invention]
[0009] According to another feature of the present disclosure, the protrusion amount of the upper surface portion toward the saw blade is longer than the distance between the upper surface portion and the saw blade. Accordingly, the gap between the saw blade and the upper surface portion of the blade cover becomes smaller. Therefore, it is possible to more reliably suppress dust from being discharged upward and scattering between the saw blade and the blade cover.
[0010] According to another feature of the present disclosure, a left upper surface portion which is an upper surface portion is provided on the left side surface portion. A right upper surface portion which is an upper surface portion is provided on the right side surface portion. Accordingly, it is possible to suppress dust from being discharged upward and scattering in both gaps between the saw blade and the left side surface portion and between the saw blade and the right side surface portion.
[0011] According to other features of this disclosure, the blade cover has a central lower portion. The central lower portion protrudes toward the saw blade from the lower part of at least one longitudinal center of the left and right side portions. Thus, dust inside the blade cover can be guided to the rear of the blade cover and discharged by the central lower portion.
[0012] According to other features of this disclosure, a left central lower section is provided on the left side, and a right central lower section is provided on the right side. In the gaps between the saw blade and the left side, and between the saw blade and the right side, dust inside the blade cover can be guided to the rear of the blade cover and discharged.
[0013] According to other features of this disclosure, the left central lower portion or the right central lower portion includes an inclined portion that slopes upward from front to rear. Therefore, dust can be guided along the inclined portion toward the rear and upward of the blade cover. For example, dust can be suitably discharged by providing a dust collection port above and behind the blade cover.
[0014] According to other features of this disclosure, the blade cover has an opening. The opening is located at the rear of the central lower surface and opens downward. Therefore, dust that leaks from the central lower surface can be collected back into the blade cover at the opening. This can improve dust collection efficiency.
[0015] According to other features of this disclosure, the upper table has a through hole. The through hole allows the upper part of the saw blade to protrude. The blade cover includes a casing. The casing is removable and mounted on the top surface of the upper table, enclosing the through hole and shielding the front of the through hole. Therefore, when used in tabletop circular saw mode, the blade cover can be placed on the top surface of the upper table so as to enclose the through hole. This prevents dust from scattering from the through hole towards the operator by the casing of the blade cover.
[0016] According to other features of this disclosure, an engaging portion is provided on the front of the blade cover. The engaging portion engages with the upper table. Therefore, when used in tabletop circular saw mode, the blade cover can be stably held on the upper table.
[0017] According to other features of this disclosure, a tabletop circular saw with an upper table comprises a cutting machine body, an upper table, and a blade cover. The cutting machine body is positioned to pivot up and down around the rear upper part of the table and is fitted with a saw blade. The upper table is positioned above the cutting machine body and the upper part of the saw blade protrudes from it. The blade cover is removablely fitted to the top surface of the table when the cutting machine body is held at the bottom dead center and covers the saw blade. The blade cover has left and right side sections and a connecting section. The left and right side sections cover the left and right sides of the saw blade. The connecting section connects the left and right side sections. The blade cover is removablely fitted when placed on the top surface of the upper table, and the left and right side sections cover the left and right sides of the upper part of the saw blade, and the connecting section shields the front of the through hole.
[0018] Therefore, when using it in tabletop circular saw mode, the blade cover can be placed on the top surface of the upper table so as to surround the through-hole. This prevents dust from scattering from the through-hole towards the operator, as the surrounding portion of the blade cover helps to suppress this.
[0019] A first embodiment of this disclosure will be described with reference to Figures 1 to 36. In this embodiment, a tabletop circular saw with an upper table 1 is given as an example of a stationary machining device. A tabletop circular saw with an upper table is also known as a table miter saw or miter table saw. As shown in Figure 1, the tabletop circular saw with an upper table 1 has a base 2 that is placed on a table or floor, and a turntable (table) 3 for placing the workpiece. The turntable 3 is supported above the base 2. Above the turntable 3, a cutting machine body 10 is provided. A roughly disc-shaped saw blade 14 called a tipped saw blade is rotatably supported on the cutting machine body 10. Above the cutting machine body 10, an upper table 60 for placing the workpiece is provided. The user performs the cutting work from in front of the tabletop circular saw with an upper table 1. In the following explanation, the front-to-back direction is defined as the direction closest to the user. The up-down, left-to-right, and right directions are defined relative to the user.
[0020] <Overall configuration of the tabletop circular saw 1 with upper table> The tabletop circular saw with an upper table of this disclosure can be used by switching between a tabletop circular saw mode, which cuts a workpiece W placed on the upper surface 3a of the turntable 3 as shown in Figure 2, and a table saw mode, which cuts a workpiece W placed on the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60 as shown in Figure 9. In tabletop circular saw mode, with the upper table 60 raised to its highest position, the cutting machine body 10 is swung downward to cause the lower part of the saw blade 14 to cut into the workpiece W placed on the upper surface 3a of the turntable 3. In table saw mode, with the cutting machine body 10 fixed at the bottom dead center, the workpiece W is cut by feeding it from front to back toward the upper part of the saw blade 14 that protrudes upward from the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60.
[0021] As shown in Figures 1 and 16, the upper surface 3a of the turntable 3 is approximately circular in plan view and extends horizontally. The table rotation support shaft 2a is located in the center of the approximately circular shape of the turntable 3. The turntable 3 is rotatable horizontally around the table rotation support shaft 2a, which extends vertically. The base 2 has auxiliary tables 2c on both the left and right sides of the turntable 3, with the same upper surface height as the upper surface 3a. A cutting edge plate 3d is provided on the upper surface of the turntable 3. As shown in Figure 2, a notched groove hole 3e is provided in the center of the cutting edge plate 3d, extending in the front-rear direction along the side surface of the saw blade 14. When the cutting machine body 10 is lowered to near the bottom dead center, the lower part of the saw blade 14 enters the groove hole 3e.
[0022] As shown in Figure 1, a wall-shaped positioning fence 4 is provided above the turntable 3 and auxiliary table 2c, extending both horizontally and upward. The positioning fence 4 is supported by the left and right auxiliary tables 2c. As shown in Figure 7, the positioning surface 4a, which is the front surface of the positioning fence 4, is located on a vertical plane passing through the table rotation support axis 2a, which is the rotation center of the turntable 3. The workpiece placed on the turntable 3 is positioned in the front-to-back direction by contacting the positioning surface 4a.
[0023] As shown in Figures 1 and 16, a circular arc-shaped miter scale plate 6 extending horizontally is provided in a roughly half-circumference area at the front of the base 2. The miter scale plate 6 displays the horizontal rotation angle (miter angle) of the turntable 3. The miter angle is the angle formed by the side of the saw blade 14 and a virtual plane perpendicular to the positioning surface 4a of the positioning fence 4. When the miter angle is 0 degrees, the workpiece can be cut perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the workpiece. As shown in Figure 28, by rotating the turntable 3 to the left or right, the saw blade 14 can be positioned at an angle to the virtual plane perpendicular to the positioning surface 4a of the positioning fence 4. Cutting the workpiece in this position in tabletop circular saw mode is called a miter cut.
[0024] As shown in Figures 1 and 7, an arm support section 3c is provided at the rear of the turntable 3. Behind the arm support section 3c, a support arm 5 extending upward is provided. The support arm 5 is supported so as to be able to tilt left and right relative to the arm support section 3c, around a left and right tilting pivot axis 5a that extends in the front and rear direction. As shown in Figure 29, in tabletop circular saw mode, by tilting the saw blade 14 left and right, a so-called bevel cut can be made on the workpiece placed on the turntable 3.
[0025] As shown in Figures 7 and 9, the rear of the cutting machine body 10 is connected to the support arm 5 by a vertical pivot shaft 10a that extends in the left-right direction. In tabletop circular saw mode, the cutting machine body 10 can swing vertically around the vertical pivot shaft 10a. As shown in Figure 17, a torsion spring 10b is provided around the vertical pivot shaft 10a to bias the cutting machine body 10 upward toward the top dead center.
[0026] As shown in Figure 7, the support arm 5 is provided with a bottom dead center stopper 5b. The bottom dead center stopper 5b is located in front of and below the vertical pivot shaft 10a. The bottom dead center stopper 5b includes a socket head cap bolt 5c, a hexagonal nut 5d, and a compression spring 5e. The socket head cap bolt 5c is screw-connected to the support arm 5 and protrudes upward at its tip. Adhesive is applied to the threaded portion of the socket head cap bolt 5c to prevent it from falling off the support arm 5 due to vibration or other factors. A bottom dead center stopper contact portion 10d is provided on the rear lower surface of the cutting machine body 10. When the bottom dead center stopper contact portion 10d contacts the tip of the socket head cap bolt 5c, the downward swing of the cutting machine body 10 stops at the bottom dead center. The length of the upward protrusion of the socket head cap bolt 5c can be changed by, for example, inserting a hexagonal wrench into the hexagonal hole in the head and rotating it. This allows for fine adjustment of the bottom dead center position of the cutting machine body 10. When the user stops applying downward load to the cutting machine body 10, the cutting machine body 10 moves slightly upward. The resulting wobble reduces the stability of the upper table 60 in table saw mode. Therefore, in table saw mode, the wobble can be suppressed by adjusting the hexagonal nut 5d to move it upward and eliminate the gap with the bottom dead center stopper contact part 10d. The compression spring 5e prevents the hexagonal nut 5d from falling off by biasing it upward.
[0027] As shown in Figure 9, a top dead center stopper 10e is provided at the rear of the cutting machine body 10. The top dead center stopper 10e is cylindrical and protrudes to the right from the cutting machine body 10. A top dead center stopper contact portion 5f is provided on the support arm 5. The top dead center stopper contact portion 5f is provided above the vertical swing pivot shaft 10a. When the top dead center stopper 10e contacts the top dead center stopper contact portion 5f, the upward swing of the cutting machine body 10 stops at the top dead center.
[0028] As shown in Figures 9 and 14, a locking pin 8 is provided on the upper part of the support arm 5. The locking pin 8 is slidable in the left-right direction. An engagement recess 10c into which the locking pin 8 can enter is provided on the upper rear end surface of the cutting machine body. When the cutting machine body 10 is at the bottom dead center, the locking pin 8 can be slid to the left and engaged with the engagement recess 10c. This locks the cutting machine body 10 at the bottom dead center. When the cutting machine body 10 is positioned above the bottom dead center, the engagement recess 10c is positioned above the movement path of the locking pin 8. Therefore, the locking pin 8 cannot enter the engagement recess 10c.
[0029] As shown in Figure 14, a regulating plate 8a is provided at the rear lower part of the upper table 60. The regulating plate 8a extends downward from the underside of the upper table 60. The regulating plate 8a is positioned to the right of the lock pin 8 when the cutting machine body 10 is at its bottom dead center. As shown in Figure 2, when the upper table 60 is lower than its highest position, the regulating plate 8a is aligned left and right at the same vertical position as the lock pin 8. As a result, the lock pin 8 is restricted from moving to the right, and its engagement with the engagement recess 10c is maintained. This keeps the cutting machine body 10 locked at the bottom dead center, allowing it to be used in table saw mode. As shown in Figure 7, when the upper table 60 is raised to its highest position, the saw blade 14 does not protrude above the upper surface of the upper table 60. The regulating plate 8a is positioned above the lock pin 8. As a result, the engagement between the lock pin 8 and the engagement recess 10c can be released. This allows the cutting machine body 10 to be used in table saw mode, where it is oscillated up and down.
[0030] As shown in Figure 1, the upper table 60 is a horizontal rectangular flat plate with the saw blade 14 in a vertical position. In table saw mode, the workpiece can be placed on the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60. A slit-shaped through hole 60c is provided that penetrates the upper table 60 in the vertical direction. The through hole 60c extends straight in the front-rear direction. A blade opening plate 60b is provided on the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60 so as to surround the through hole 60c. By raising and lowering the upper table 60 relative to the cutting machine body 10, the saw blade 14 moves forward and backward relative to the through hole 60c. This allows the length of the saw blade 14 protruding above the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60 to be changed. For example, as shown in Figure 4, when the upper table 60 is lowered to the lowest position H2, the saw blade 14 protrudes above the upper surface 60a at its maximum protrusion length. As shown in Figure 8, when the upper table 60 is raised to its highest position H1, the upper part of the saw blade 14 does not exceed the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60.
[0031] As shown in Figure 1, a rail 63 is provided on the rear surface of the upper table 60. The rail 63 extends straight in the left-right direction perpendicular to the side surface of the saw blade 14. Details of the rail 63 will be described later. A plate 60e is provided at the front end of the upper surface 60a to improve sliding properties. The upper surface of the plate 60e is flush with the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60. Behind the saw blade 14, a splitter blade 64a is provided to prevent kickback. The splitter blade 64a protrudes above the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60 through a through hole 60c. In front of the splitter blade 64a, an upper cover 64 is provided to cover the upper part of the saw blade 14. The upper cover 64 rotates vertically around a pivot shaft 64b at the top of the splitter blade 64a. By feeding the workpiece backward toward the saw blade 14 on the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60, the upper cover 64 is gradually pushed upward and opens.
[0032] As shown in Figures 3 and 7, a lifting mechanism 50 is provided on the right rear of the cutting machine body 10. The upper table 60 moves up and down by operating the lifting mechanism 50. Front guide members 41 and 42 and a rear guide member 45 are attached to the underside of the upper table 60 as a guide mechanism 40 that guides it in the vertical direction. The guide mechanism 40 and the lifting mechanism 50 will be described in detail later. A compression spring 60d is provided between the underside of the upper table 60 and the top surface of the cutting machine body 10 to elastically hold the upper table 60.
[0033] As shown in Figures 9 and 20, the cutting machine body 10 has a fixed cover 12, a movable cover 20, and an auxiliary cover 21 that cover the saw blade 14. The fixed cover 12 covers the upper part of the saw blade 14 from both the left and right sides and the front and rear sides. The movable cover 20 and the auxiliary cover 21 are supported by the fixed cover 12 so that they can be opened and closed between an open position and a closed position. In the closed position, the movable cover 20 covers the front lower part of the saw blade 14. In the closed position, the auxiliary cover 21 covers the front middle part of the saw blade 14 between the fixed cover 12 and the movable cover 20 in the vertical direction. The movable cover 20 and the auxiliary cover 21 open and close in conjunction with the vertical swing of the cutting machine body 10 in table saw mode. The movable cover 20 and the auxiliary cover 21 move to the closed position when the cutting machine body 10 is at top dead center. The movable cover 20 and the auxiliary cover 21 gradually open as the cutting machine body 10 is moved downwards, and are most open when the cutting machine body 10 is at bottom dead center (see Figure 7). The lower part of the saw blade 14 is exposed when the cutting machine body 10 is moved downward, allowing it to cut into the workpiece placed on the turntable 3. The movable cover 20 and auxiliary cover 21 will be described in detail later.
[0034] As shown in Figure 10, a lighting unit 13 is provided on the inner circumferential surface of the front part of the fixed cover 12. The lighting unit 13 has a light-emitting element such as an LED. The lighting unit 13 irradiates light toward the radially inward saw blade 14. When the cutting machine body 10 is near top dead center, the light emitted from the lighting unit 13 can project the shadow of the saw blade 14 onto the upper surface of the workpiece W placed on the upper surface 3a of the turntable 3. By aligning the line drawn on the upper surface of the workpiece W with the shadow of the saw blade 14, the saw blade 14 can be made to cut into the position of the line when the cutting machine body 10 is swung downward.
[0035] As shown in Figures 2 and 9, a dust collection guide 24 is provided at the lower rear of the fixed cover 12. The dust collection guide 24 suppresses the scattering of dust (chips) generated when the saw blade 14 cuts the workpiece. The dust collection guide 24 includes a guide plate portion 24a at the rear of the saw blade 14 and a dust collection port 24b at the rear of the guide plate portion 24a. The guide plate portion 24a extends in a flat plate shape in the front-rear direction on both the left and right sides of the saw blade 14. The dust collection port 24b is cylindrical with openings at the front and rear ends and is connected to the guide plate portion 24a at the front end. A dust collection hose is connected to the dust collection port 24b and connected to a separately prepared dust collector. This allows dust scattered around the dust collection guide 24 to be sent to the dust collector.
[0036] As shown in Figure 17, the cutting machine body 10 is provided with an output shaft 15 that extends in the left-right direction and is supported so as to be rotatable on the axis. The saw blade 14 rotates on the axis together with the output shaft 15. The saw blade 14 is attached to the output shaft 15 by tightening a fixing screw 16 while its rotation center is sandwiched between the outer flange 16a and the inner flange 16b on both the left and right sides.
[0037] As shown in Figures 16 and 17, the cutting machine body 10 has a main body housing 11 integrated with a fixed cover 12. The main body housing 11 includes a gear housing 11b to the right of the saw blade 14 and a motor housing 11a further to the right of the gear housing 11b. Further to the right of the motor housing 11a is a battery mounting section 33 from which a battery 34 can be attached and detached. The motor housing 11a houses a motor 30, which is called a DC brushless motor. The gear housing 11b houses a power transmission section 32 consisting of a reduction gear that transmits the output of the motor shaft 30a of the motor 30 to the output shaft.
[0038] As shown in Figure 17, the motor shaft 30a extends in a left-right direction perpendicular to the side of the saw blade 14 and parallel to the upper table 60. The motor shaft 30a rotates axially, supported by bearings 30d and 30e. The stator 30b of the motor 30 is non-rotatably supported on the inner circumferential surface of the motor housing 11a. The rotor 30c of the motor 30 is located on the inner circumferential side of the stator 30b. The rotor 30c is attached to the motor shaft 30a and rotates axially together with the motor shaft 30a. An air intake port 33c that can take in outside air is provided on the rightward extension of the motor shaft 30a and on the right side of the battery mounting portion 33. A fan 31 is attached to the left side of the motor shaft 30a and to the left of the left bearing 30e. The fan 31 rotates axially together with the motor shaft 30a. When the motor 30 is started and the fan 31 rotates, cooling air is introduced from the intake port 33c into the battery mounting section 33, and further into the motor housing 11a on the left. The introduced cooling air cools the motor 30 and the controller 35, which will be described later.
[0039] As shown in Figure 17, a drive-side spur gear 32a is integrally mounted to the left end of the motor shaft 30a. The drive-side spur gear 32a is housed in the gear housing 11b. A driven-side spur gear 32b is mounted on the right side of the output shaft 15. The drive-side spur gear 32a and the driven-side spur gear 32b mesh with each other. As a result, the rotational power of the motor shaft 30a is transmitted to the output shaft 15 at a reduced speed.
[0040] As shown in Figure 17, an operating part 17a of the shaft lock 17 is provided at the rear of the motor housing 11a. The shaft lock 17 is inserted into the front of the motor housing 11a. The front end of the shaft lock 17 is biased towards the rear by a compression spring 17c. When the operating part 17a of the shaft lock 17 is pushed forward against the biasing force, the engaging part 17b of the shaft lock 17 engages with the motor shaft 30a. This restricts the rotation of the motor shaft 30a and also restricts the rotation of the output shaft 15. Therefore, the operation of attaching and detaching the saw blade 14 to the output shaft 15 can be easily performed.
[0041] As shown in Figure 17, the battery mounting section 33 includes a controller housing section 33b at the front and a connection terminal housing section 33a at the rear. The connection terminal housing section 33a is a plate-shaped section that is long in the front-to-back direction and faces to the right, opposite to the saw blade 14. The controller housing section 33b is a plate-shaped section that is long in the left-to-right direction and faces backward, where the connection terminal housing section 33a is located. In other words, the battery mounting section 33, to which the connection terminal housing section 33a and the controller housing section 33b are connected, is L-shaped when viewed from above. The mounting surface of the connection terminal housing section 33a faces to the right, opposite to the saw blade 14.
[0042] As shown in Figure 3, the terminal housing section 33a is provided with a rail 33d and a terminal 33e. The rail 33d extends in the front-rear direction along the longitudinal direction of the terminal housing section 33a on both the upper and lower sides of the terminal housing section 33a. The terminal 33e protrudes from the terminal housing section 33a toward the right, opposite to the saw blade 14, and extends in the front-rear direction approximately parallel to the rail 33d. The battery 34 (see Figure 2) can be attached to and detached from the terminal housing section 33a by sliding it in the front-rear direction along the rail 33d. As shown in Figure 14, the right side of the terminal housing section 33a, when viewed from above, is exposed to the right of the upper table 60.
[0043] As shown in Figures 2 and 14, the battery 34 is a roughly rectangular box shape, longest in the front-to-back direction and second longest in the up-to-down direction when mounted on the battery mounting section 33. The battery 34 can be installed by sliding it from rear to front relative to the terminal housing section 33a of the battery mounting section 33. The battery 34 can be removed by sliding it from front to rear relative to the terminal housing section 33a. A space is provided behind the terminal housing section 33a to prevent the sliding battery 34 from interfering with other components. The battery 34 is, for example, a lithium-ion battery with an output voltage of 40V. The battery 34 can be removed from the battery mounting section 33 and repeatedly recharged using a separately provided charger. The battery 34 can be reused as a power source between other rechargeable power tools such as screw tighteners and electric drills.
[0044] As shown in Figure 2, when the cutting machine body 10 is at bottom dead center and the upper table 60 is at its lowest position H2, the battery 34 mounted on the battery mounting section 33 is positioned below a virtual plane S1 which is at the same height as the top surface 60a. In this state, the top surface 60a is the uppermost edge 60f of the upper table 60. Similarly, as shown in Figure 7, when the cutting machine body 10 is at bottom dead center and the upper table 60 is at its highest position H1, the entire battery 34 is positioned below the top surface 60a. Similarly, as shown in Figure 9, when the cutting machine body 10 is at top dead center, the entire battery 34 is positioned below the front edge of the top surface 60a, which is the uppermost edge 60f of the upper table 60. As shown in Figure 14, the battery 34 is exposed to the right of the upper table 60 when viewed from above. The longest diameter D1 of the base 2 is defined as the distance between the left end face of the left auxiliary table 2c and the right end face of the right auxiliary table 2c in the thickness direction of the vertical saw blade 14. The entire battery 34, which is attached to the battery mounting section 33, is positioned so that it fits within the range of the longest diameter D1.
[0045] As shown in Figure 17, the controller 35 is housed in the controller housing 33b. The controller 35 has a shallow, roughly rectangular case and a control board housed inside the case and molded in resin. The control board of the controller 35 is equipped with a control circuit that includes a microcontroller for transmitting control signals to the motor 30, and a drive circuit that includes an FET for switching the current to the motor 30 based on signals received from the control circuit. The control board is also equipped with an auto-stop circuit that cuts off the power supply to the motor 30 to prevent over-discharge or overcurrent conditions depending on the detection result of the battery 34 state. The controller 35 is housed in the front of the controller housing 33b in a position where it is longest in the left-right direction, which is roughly parallel to the motor shaft 30a, and then longest in the front-back direction.
[0046] As shown in Figure 5, the controller 35 and battery 34 are arranged so as to pass through a virtual plane S2 that is the same vertical height as the motor shaft 30a. The controller 35 is positioned in front of the motor shaft 30a. The battery 34 is positioned behind the motor shaft 30a. A plate-shaped heat sink 35a is provided extending rearward from the controller 35. The heat sink 35a is composed of multiple plates that extend approximately horizontally and are arranged vertically. As shown in Figure 17, the heat sink 35a is positioned on the airflow path for cooling air from the intake port 33c on the right side of the battery mounting section 33 to the fan 31. Therefore, the controller 35 can be efficiently cooled via the heat sink 35a.
[0047] As shown in Figure 22, a switch unit 36 is provided in front of the motor housing 11a and gear housing 11b. A handle 37 extends from the switch unit 36 toward the right, towards the reverse saw blade 14. The user swings the cutting machine body 10 up and down while gripping the handle 37. On the front of the switch unit 36 are an on button 36a to start the motor 30, an off button 36b to stop the motor 30 from starting, a lighting button 36c to switch the lighting unit 13 for marking lines on and off, and a dust collector start button 36d to switch a separately provided dust collector on and off. As shown in Figure 2, a communication adapter 38 can be inserted and attached to the right side of the switch unit 36. The communication adapter 38 enables wireless communication with other ancillary equipment, such as a dust collector installed separately from the tabletop circular saw 1 with an upper table. Wireless communication allows the starting and stopping operations of the tabletop circular saw 1 with an upper table and the ancillary equipment to be synchronized.
[0048] As shown in Figure 9, a cover lock lever 23 is provided below the switch unit 36. An operating part 23a is provided at the right end of the cover lock lever 23. An engaging part 23b, which can engage with the movable cover 20, is provided at the left end of the cover lock lever 23. The cover lock lever 23 is connected to the lower surface of the switch unit 36 so as to be rotatable in the left-right direction at an intermediate position between the operating part 23a and the engaging part 23b. The cover lock lever 23 is biased by a torsion spring 23c so that the engaging part 23b moves away from the movable cover 20 to the right. By pushing the operating part 23a downward, the engaging part 23b moves closer to the left relative to the movable cover 20. This allows the movable cover 20 to be held in the closed position P1.
[0049] As shown in Figures 1, 2, and 4, a miter angle fixing grip 7 is provided at the front of the turntable 3. The pressing portion 7a at the tip of the miter angle fixing grip 7 faces the front peripheral wall 2d of the base 2 via a leaf spring 7b. By rotating the miter angle fixing grip 7 axially in the loosening direction, the pressing portion 7a moves away from the front peripheral wall 2d. This allows the user to grip the miter angle fixing grip 7 and rotate the turntable 3 around the table rotation support shaft 2a. By rotating the miter angle fixing grip 7 axially in the tightening direction, the pressing portion 7a moves closer to the front peripheral wall 2d. The pressing force of the pressing portion 7a causes the base 2 and the turntable 3 to repel each other in the radial direction of the turntable 3. This allows the turntable 3 to be positioned at any miter angle relative to the base 2.
[0050] As shown in Figures 1 and 14, a parallel guide 70 can be detachably mounted on the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60. The parallel guide 70 is fixed to the upper table 60 in a position where the guide body 71 extends in the front-to-back direction parallel to the saw blade 14. The workpiece is placed on the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60 and is moved from front to back along the saw blade 14 while being in contact with the material contact surface 71e of the guide body 71. This allows the workpiece to be cut straight with the saw blade 14. The parallel guide 70 will be described in detail later.
[0051] As shown in Figures 1 and 2, when using in table saw mode, the blade cover 80 is placed on the upper surface 3a of the turntable 3. The blade cover 80 covers the lower part of the saw blade 14 that is exposed below the fixed cover 12. The blade cover 80 also serves as a dust collection cover to suppress the scattering of dust around the saw blade 14. A push stick for pushing the workpiece W backward along the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60 can be detachably attached to the blade cover 80. As shown in Figure 7, when using in tabletop circular saw mode, the blade cover 80 can be removed from the upper surface 3a of the turntable 3 and placed on the upper table 60. The blade cover 80 and push stick 85 will be described in detail later.
[0052] <Guide mechanism 40> As shown in Figure 16, the guide mechanism 40 has a front guide mechanism 40a and a rear guide mechanism 40b. The front guide mechanism 40a is located to the right of the fixed cover 12 and in front of the motor housing 11a and the gear housing 11b. The front guide mechanism 40a has a fixed guide member 41 on the left and a movable guide member 42 on the right as front guide members. The front fixed operating member 43 of the front guide mechanism 40a is located to the right of the movable guide member 42 and in front of the controller housing 33b. The rear guide mechanism 40b is located behind the saw blade 14. The rear guide mechanism 40b has a rectangular cylindrical rear guide member 45. The rear fixed operating member 46 of the rear guide mechanism 40b is located to the left of the rear of the fixed cover 12. Therefore, the front fixed operating member 43 and the rear fixed operating member 46 are located to the right and left of the fixed cover 12, respectively.
[0053] As shown in Figure 23, the fixed guide member 41 and the movable guide member 42 are each L-shaped plates when viewed from the front. The fixed guide member 41 has an upright portion 41a that stands upright in the vertical direction and a horizontal portion 41b that extends to the right substantially perpendicularly from the upper end of the upright portion 41a. The movable guide member 42 has an upright portion 42a that stands upright in the vertical direction and a horizontal portion 42b that extends to the left substantially perpendicularly from the upper end of the upright portion 42a. The upright portion 41a of the fixed guide member 41 is provided with a guide hole 41c that penetrates in the left-right direction and is long in the front-rear direction. The upright portion 42a of the movable guide member 42 is provided with a guide hole 42c that penetrates in the left-right direction and is long in the front-rear direction. A rod 44 connected to the front fixed operating member 43 is inserted through the guide holes 41c and 42c.
[0054] As shown in Figure 16, the horizontal portion 41b of the fixed guide member 41 is provided with two female threaded portions 41e that penetrate in the front-rear direction. The threaded members 56 (see Figure 14) of the connecting mechanism 55, which will be described later, are fastened to the female threaded portions 41e. The horizontal portion 42b of the movable guide member 42 is provided with a fixing restricting hole 42d that penetrates in the front-rear direction and is long in the left-right direction. As shown in Figure 23, the legs 58b and stepped portion 58c of the stepped screw 58 can be inserted through the fixing restricting hole 42d, but the head 58a of the stepped screw 58 cannot be inserted. The stepped portion 58c of the stepped screw 58 is larger in diameter than the legs 58b and is provided adjacent to the head 58a. The lower surface of the upper table 60 is provided with a cylindrical boss portion 62 that extends in the front-rear direction. The boss portion 62 is provided with a female threaded portion 62a. The legs 58b of a stepped screw 58, which is inserted through the fixing regulating hole 42d of the movable guide member 42, are fastened to the female screw portion 62a.
[0055] As shown in Figure 14, the upper table 60 is provided with a plurality of through-holes 61 that penetrate vertically. There are a total of six through-holes 61: two on the front guide mechanism 40a side and four on the rear guide mechanism 40b side. The through-holes 61 are approximately circular when viewed from above. Screw members 56, such as pan head screws, are inserted through the through-holes 61. The upper part of the through-hole 61 is surrounded in the circumferential direction by the hole wall 61a. A gap is provided between the hole wall 61a and the head 56a of the screw member 56 in the horizontal direction.
[0056] As shown in Figure 23, a substantially horizontal stepped surface 61b is provided in the vertical center of the through hole 61. Below the stepped surface 61b, the through hole 61 is a smaller diameter leg insertion hole 61c. The leg insertion hole 61c is provided with a diameter that allows the leg portion 56b of the screw member 56 to be inserted but prevents the head portion 56a from being inserted. A gap is provided horizontally between the leg insertion hole 61c and the leg portion 56b. The horizontal position of the screw member 56 can be adjusted relative to the through hole 61 by utilizing the gap between the hole wall 61a and the head portion 56a, and the gap between the leg insertion hole 61c and the leg portion 56b. By adjusting the position of the screw member 56 and fastening the leg portion 56b to the female thread portion 41e of the fixed guide member 41, the upper table 60 and the fixed guide member 41 can be accurately positioned and connected.
[0057] As shown in Figure 23, the stepped screw 58 is inserted from below upward through the fixing regulating hole 42d of the movable guide member 42. The legs 58b of the stepped screw 58 are fastened to the female threaded portion 62a of the upper table 60. This constitutes a guide member connecting mechanism 57 that connects the upper table 60 and the movable guide member 42 so that they can move relative to each other. In other words, in the guide member connecting mechanism 57, the stepped portion 58c of the stepped screw 58 is slidable in the longitudinal direction of the fixing regulating hole 42d, and the upper table 60 and the movable guide member 42 are connected vertically. Therefore, even if there are variations in the perpendicularity between the upright portion 41a and the horizontal portion 41b of the fixed guide member 41, and between the upright portion 42a and the horizontal portion 42b of the movable guide member 42, the variation in molding accuracy can be absorbed by the movement of the stepped portion 58c within the fixing regulating hole 42d. Therefore, the guide hole 41c of the fixed guide member 41 and the guide hole 42c of the movable guide member 42 can each slide smoothly in the vertical direction relative to the rod 44.
[0058] As shown in Figure 23, a cylindrical boss portion 12d protruding to the right is provided on the right side surface 12b of the fixed cover 12. The boss portion 12d is provided with a front rod hole 12e extending from the right end to the left, and a pin hole 12f that is substantially perpendicular to and communicates with the front rod hole 12e. The left second end portion 44b of the rod 44 is inserted through the front rod hole 12e. A pin is inserted through the second end portion 44b of the rod 44 and the pin hole 12f to serve as a rotation restricting portion 44d. This restricts the axial rotation of the rod 44 relative to the front rod hole 12e.
[0059] As shown in Figure 23, a male threaded portion 44c is provided at the first end 44a on the right side of the rod 44. A nut 43a with a female threaded portion 43b is integrally provided on the lever-shaped front fixing operating member 43. The male threaded portion 44c of the rod 44 and the female threaded portion 43b of the front fixing operating member 43 are screwed together just to the right of the upright portion 42a of the movable guide member 42. When the front fixing operating member 43 is rotated axially in the loosening direction, the front fixing operating member 43 moves to the right, away from the rod 44. This releases the lateral pressing force applied to the upright portions 41a and 42a of the fixed guide member 41 and the movable guide member 42, respectively. As a result, the upper table 60, which is integrated with the fixed guide member 41 and the movable guide member 42, can be raised and lowered by sliding it vertically relative to the fixed cover 12, which is integrated with the rod 44. The upper table 60 can be raised and lowered when both the front fixing operating member 43 and the rear fixing operating member 46 (see Figure 24) are rotated axially in the loosening direction.
[0060] When the front fixing operating member 43 is rotated axially in the tightening direction, the front fixing operating member 43 moves to the left, closer to the rod 44. This applies a lateral pressing force to the upright portions 41a and 42a of the fixed guide member 41 and the movable guide member 42, respectively. As a result, the upper table 60, which is integrated with the fixed guide member 41 and the movable guide member 42, can be positioned at any desired vertical position relative to the fixed cover 12, which is integrated with the rod 44.
[0061] As shown in Figure 16, the rear guide member 45 is located to the right of the saw blade 14. The rear guide member 45 is a rectangular cylindrical guide body in top view, having four surfaces: front, back, left, and right. Four female threaded portions 45d are provided on the upper surface 45c of the rear guide member 45. The four female threaded portions 45d are provided at the corners where the front, back, left, and right sides meet approximately perpendicularly. The threaded members 56 (see Figure 15) of the connecting mechanism 55 are fastened to the female threaded portions 45d. As shown in Figure 24, the left and right sides of the rear guide member 45 are provided with a left guide hole 45a and a right guide hole 45b, respectively, which penetrate in the left-right direction. The left guide hole 45a and the right guide hole 45b extend parallel to each other in the front-rear direction. A rod 47 connected to the rear fixing operation member 46 is inserted through the left guide hole 45a and the right guide hole 45b.
[0062] As shown in Figure 15, a gap is provided horizontally between the hole wall 61a of the through hole 61 and the head 56a of the screw member 56. One of the through holes located above the rear guide member 45 (see Figure 16) is a smaller through hole 61d, which has a smaller diameter than the other through holes 61. As shown in Figure 24, a gap is provided horizontally between the leg insertion hole 61c and the leg 56b. The horizontal position of the screw member 56 relative to the through hole 61 can be adjusted by utilizing the gap between the hole wall 61a and the head 56a, and the gap between the leg insertion hole 61c and the leg 56b. This allows the upper table 60 and the rear guide member 45 to be precisely positioned and connected. In addition, the screw member 56 inserted through the small through hole 61d has less space for horizontal position adjustment. When adjusting the position of each screw member 56, the upper table 60 is rotated horizontally around the screw member 56 inserted through the small through hole 61d as the center. This makes it easier to adjust the position of each screw member 56.
[0063] As shown in Figure 24, the left side surface 12a of the fixing cover 12 is provided with a rear rod hole 12g that penetrates in the left-right direction and a pin hole 12i that is substantially perpendicular to and communicates with the rear rod hole 12g. The left first end 47a of the rod 47 is inserted through the rear rod hole 12g. A pin is inserted through the first end 47a of the rod 47 and the pin hole 12i as a rotation restricting part 47d. This restricts the axial rotation of the rod 47 relative to the rear rod hole 12g. The first end 47a of the rod 47 is provided with a male threaded portion 47c. A lever-shaped rear fixing operation member 46 is integrally provided with a nut 46a having a female threaded portion 46b. The male threaded portion 47c of the rod 47 and the female threaded portion 46b of the rear fixing operation member 46 are screwed together immediately to the left of the left side surface 12a of the fixing cover 12.
[0064] As shown in Figure 24, a male threaded portion 47f is provided at the second end 47b of the rod 47. A nut with a female threaded portion 48a is screwed onto the male threaded portion 47f as a contact member 48. As shown in Figure 6, the contact member 48 slidably contacts the right side surface of the rear guide member 45 immediately to the right of the right guide hole 45b.
[0065] As shown in Figure 24, a loosening prevention portion 48b is provided between the female threaded portion 48a of the contact member 48 and the male threaded portion 47f of the rod 47 in the radial direction. The loosening prevention portion 48b is, for example, a ring made of polyamide (nylon® registered trademark) or polyamide applied to the male threaded portion 47f or the female threaded portion 48a. By providing the loosening prevention portion 48b, the screwed state of the female threaded portion 48a and the male threaded portion 47f is maintained without loosening, and the contact member 48 can be held in any tightening position (left or right position) relative to the second end 47b of the rod 47. By adjusting the tightening position of the contact member 48 relative to the second end 47b of the rod 47 during product assembly, the gap in the left or right direction between the pressed portion 12h on the right side of the fixed cover 12 and the right side of the rear guide member 45 can be reduced. This suppresses play between the fixed cover 12 and the rear guide member 45, improving the sliding performance of the rear guide member 45 in the direction toward the card.
[0066] When the rear fixing operating member 46 shown in Figure 24 is rotated axially in the loosening direction, the rear fixing operating member 46 moves to the left, away from the rod 47. This releases the lateral pressing force between the rear guide member 45 and the pressed portion 12h of the fixing cover 12. As a result, the upper table 60, which is integrated with the rear guide member 45, can be raised and lowered by sliding it vertically relative to the fixing cover 12, which is integrated with the rod 47. When the rear fixing operating member 46 is rotated axially in the tightening direction, the rear fixing operating member 46 moves to the right, closer to the rod 47. This applies a lateral pressing force between the rear guide member 45 and the pressed portion 12h of the fixing cover 12. As a result, the upper table 60, which is integrated with the rear guide member 45, can be positioned at any desired vertical position relative to the fixing cover 12.
[0067] As shown in Figure 3, a lifting stopper 53 is provided in front of and below the rear guide member 45. The lifting stopper 53 is supported on the right side surface 12b of the fixed cover 12 so as to be rotatable vertically around the rotation axis 53c. The lifting stopper 53 has a guide contact portion 53a at one end and a cover contact portion 53b at the other end. The lifting stopper 53 is biased by a torsion spring in a direction (clockwise in the figure) where the guide contact portion 53a contacts the lower end of the rear guide member 45. When the blade cover 80 is placed on the upper surface 3a of the turntable 3, the cover contact portion 53b is pressed against the stopper contact portion 80m on the right side of the blade cover 80. As a result, the lifting stopper 53 rotates counterclockwise, and the guide contact portion 53a is positioned in front of the rear guide member 45. Therefore, the rear guide member 45 can move up and down without interfering with the lifting stopper 53.
[0068] As shown in Figure 7, when the blade cover 80 is not placed on the upper surface 3a of the turntable 3 and the upper table 60 is in its highest position H1, the lifting stopper 53 rotates clockwise, and the guide contact portion 53a comes into contact with the lower end of the rear guide member 45. Therefore, in tabletop circular saw mode, the upper table 60, which is integrated with the rear guide member 45, can be kept from being raised or lowered. <Lifting mechanism 50>
[0069] As shown in Figure 16, the lifting mechanism 50 is located at the right rear of the cutting machine body 10. That is, the lifting mechanism 50 is located to the right of the front fixing operating member 43 of the front guide mechanism 40a in the left-right direction, which is the thickness direction of the saw blade 14. The lifting mechanism 50 is located on the opposite side from the rear fixing operating member 46 of the rear guide mechanism 40b, with the saw blade 14 in between.
[0070] As shown in Figure 6, the lifting mechanism 50 has a knob-shaped lifting operating member 51 that rotates on an axis. The lifting operating member 51 is integrally connected to the pinion 51b via a pinion shaft 51a. The lifting operating member 51 and the pinion 51b rotate integrally around the axis of the pinion shaft 51a. The lifting mechanism 50 has a rack plate 52 equipped with a rack 52a. The rack plate 52 is integrally connected to the right side of the rear guide member 45. The rack 52a is provided on the rear side of the rack plate 52 such that the rack teeth are aligned in the vertical direction. The rack 52a and the pinion 51b mesh with each other. The pinion 51b and the rack 52a are positioned behind the rod 47 of the rear guide mechanism 40b.
[0071] As shown in Figures 3 and 7, with both the front fixing operating member 43 and the rear fixing operating member 46 (see Figure 19) loosened, the lifting operating member 51 is rotated on its axis. As the pinion 51b (see Figure 6), which is integrated with the lifting operating member 51, rotates on its axis, the rack 52a moves relative to the pinion 51b in the vertical direction. This causes the rear guide member 45 and the upper table 60, which are integrated with the rack plate 52, to move up and down. <Movable cover 20>
[0072] As shown in Figure 20, the movable cover 20 is rotatably supported on the left side surface 12a of the fixed cover 12 at a first connecting portion 20a. As shown in Figures 19 and 21, the first connecting portion 20a is located slightly above the output shaft 15, which is the rotation center of the saw blade 14. A plate-shaped link arm 22 extending in the front-rear direction is provided on the left rear of the saw blade 14. The link arm 22 is rotatably connected to the support arm 5 at a rotation axis 22a at its rear end. An arc-shaped elongated hole 22b that penetrates in the left-right direction is provided in the center of the link arm 22 in the front-rear direction. A rear auxiliary cover 22e is integrally fixed to the right rear of the fixed cover 12. The rear auxiliary cover 22e covers the rear of the saw blade 14. A guide pin 22c protrudes to the right from the rear auxiliary cover 22e and is inserted into the elongated hole 22b. A contact portion 22d is provided at the front end of the link arm 22.
[0073] As shown in Figure 21, a contact piece 20i that can rotate around the axis of the first connecting portion 20a is provided. The contact piece 20i is integrated with the movable cover 20. The contact portion 22d of the link arm 22 abuts against the lower surface of the contact piece 20i. The movable cover 20, including the contact piece 20i, is biased in the closing direction (clockwise in the figure) by a torsion spring 20j. In tabletop circular saw mode, when the cutting machine body 10 is at top dead center, the movable cover 20 is biased toward the closed position P1. When the cutting machine body 10 is swung downward, the guide pin 22c moves within the elongated hole 22b. This causes the contact portion 22d of the link arm 22 to move counterclockwise around the axis of the first connecting portion 20a. The contact piece 20i is pushed by the contact portion 22d, and the movable cover 20 gradually opens.
[0074] As shown in Figures 19 and 25, the movable cover 20 is C-shaped when viewed from the circumferential direction so as to cover the left and right sides and radially outward of the saw blade 14. When the movable cover 20 is in the open position P2, it covers the radially outward and left-right outward of the auxiliary cover 21. In other words, the auxiliary cover 21 in the open position P2 is housed in the movable cover 20 in the open position P2. When the movable cover 20 is in the open position P2, it also covers the radially outward and left-right outward of the front part of the fixed cover 12. As shown in Figures 20 and 26, the opening end 20b of the movable cover 20 is located below the front opening 12c of the fixed cover 12 when it is in the closed position P1. The auxiliary cover 21 in the closed position P1 covers the area between the opening end 20b and the front opening 12c in the vertical direction.
[0075] As shown in Figure 27, a closing linkage portion 20e and a lever linkage engagement portion 20f are provided on the right side of the opening end 20b of the movable cover 20. The closing linkage portion 20e is, for example, a metal plate, with its tip extending to the left toward the inside of the movable cover 20. The closing linkage portion 20e can engage with the auxiliary closing linkage portion 21d of the auxiliary cover 21, which will be described later. The lever linkage engagement portion 20f can engage with the engagement portion 23b of the cover lock lever 23 when the cutting machine body 10 is at top dead center and the movable cover 20 is in the closed position P1. When the engagement portion 23b moves to the left and engages with the lever linkage engagement portion 20f, the movable cover 20 can be held in the closed position P1 so that it does not open.
[0076] As shown in Figure 12, an opening linkage portion 20g is provided at the closing end 20c of the movable cover 20. The opening linkage portion 20g protrudes radially inward from the outer peripheral wall 20d on the radial outer circumference side of the movable cover 20. The opening linkage portion 20g has a roughly triangular shape when viewed from the left and right sides. When the cutting machine body 10 is swung downward and the movable cover 20 gradually opens, the opening linkage portion 20g engages with the rib (auxiliary opening linkage portion) 21e of the closing end 21b of the auxiliary cover 21. As a result, the auxiliary cover 21 also gradually opens together with the movable cover 20.
[0077] As shown in Figure 13, a drop projection 20h is provided on the inner circumference of the movable cover 20. The drop projection 20h protrudes radially inward from the outer peripheral wall 20d at a position midway between the opening end 20b and the closing end 20c. The drop projection 20h is approximately semicircular in left and right side views. The drop projection 20h overlaps circumferentially with the rotation path of the outer peripheral wall 21c of the auxiliary cover 21. The drop projection 20h overlaps circumferentially with the outer peripheral wall 21c of the auxiliary cover 21 at least in the open position P2 (see Figure 8). When the cutting machine body 10 is swung upward, the auxiliary cover 21 may not rotate from the open position P2. Even in this case, as the movable cover 20 gradually closes, the drop projection 20h comes into contact with the outer peripheral wall 21c of the auxiliary cover 21. This impacts the auxiliary cover 21, allowing it to move to the closed position P1 (see Figure 10). <Auxiliary cover 21>
[0078] As shown in Figures 20 and 27, the auxiliary cover 21 is C-shaped when viewed from the circumferential direction, so as to cover the left and right sides and radially outward of the saw blade 14. As shown in Figure 8, the auxiliary cover 21 is housed in the movable cover 20 when in the open position P2. The upper part of the auxiliary cover 21 is housed in the fixed cover 12 when in the open position P2.
[0079] As shown in Figure 11, the auxiliary cover 21 is rotatably supported at the second connecting portion 21a relative to the right side surface 12b of the fixed cover 12. The second connecting portion 21a is located on the opposite side from the first connecting portion 20a in the left-right direction, which is the thickness direction of the saw blade 14. The second connecting portion 21a is located in front of the first connecting portion 20a. The second connecting portion 21a is located in front of the gear housing 11b that houses the power transmission unit 32. Therefore, the rotation radius of the auxiliary cover 21 is shorter than the rotation radius of the movable cover 20.
[0080] As shown in Figure 27, the closing end 21b of the auxiliary cover 21 is provided with ribs 21e that protrude outward in the left-right direction and radially outward. The ribs 21e reduce the gap between the closing end 21b of the auxiliary cover 21 and the opening end 20b of the movable cover 20. The right rear portion of the rib 21e is an auxiliary closing linkage portion 21d that engages with the closing linkage portion 20e of the movable cover 20 in the closed position P1. The closing linkage portion 20e engages with the auxiliary closing linkage portion 21d and pulls towards the closing side. As a result, the auxiliary cover 21 rotates in the closing direction together with the movable cover 20. The radial outer circumference of the rib 21e also serves as an auxiliary opening linkage portion that contacts the drop projection 20h (see Figure 13).
[0081] As shown in Figure 10, when the cutting machine body 10 is at top dead center, the auxiliary cover 21 in the closed position P1 is positioned below the illumination unit 13. As shown in Figure 8, when the cutting machine body 10 is at bottom dead center, the auxiliary cover 21 in the open position P2 enters the radial space between the saw blade 14 and the illumination unit 13. Therefore, the auxiliary cover 21 in the open position P2 can prevent dust generated when cutting the workpiece from hitting the illumination unit 13. This allows the brightness of the illumination unit 13 to be maintained. <Mounting mechanism for parallel ruler 70 and upper table 60>
[0082] As shown in Figures 1 and 30, the parallel ruler 70 has a ruler body 71 that extends straight and long in the front-rear direction. The ruler body 71 has a ruler base 71a that extends across the front and rear ends of the upper table 60, and a material contact member 71d that is movable in the front-rear direction relative to the ruler base 71a. A pressing member 72 that engages with the front surface of the upper table 60 is provided at the front end of the ruler base 71a. A support member 73 that engages with the rail 63 on the rear surface of the upper table 60 is connected to the rear end of the ruler base 71a.
[0083] As shown in Figures 30 and 31, a front sliding member 77 is provided at the front end of the ruler base 71a, behind the pressing member 72. It is a thin plate-like member that is substantially flush with the lower surface 71b of the ruler base 71a. When the parallel ruler 70 is placed on the upper table 60, the front sliding member 77 is positioned between the ruler base 71a and the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60 in the vertical direction (see Figure 3). A sliding member 76 is provided on the rail-side support 75 of the support member 73. The sliding member 76 is L-shaped in left and right side views and extends straight in the left and right directions. As shown in Figure 32, the portion of the L-shaped sliding member 76 that protrudes downward is the insertion portion 76a that is inserted into the rail 63. The front sliding member 77 and the sliding member 76 work together to allow the parallel ruler 70 to slide left and right relative to the upper table 60. The front sliding member 77 and the sliding member 76 are made of a material with high sliding properties, for example, the same material. The front sliding member 77 and the sliding member 76 are made of synthetic resin, for example, epoxy resin, polyurethane resin, acetal resin, and more preferably polyacetal resin.
[0084] As shown in Figure 3, the pressing member 72 has an axially rotating operating part 72a, a pressing part 72b at the rear end of the operating part 72a, and a leaf spring 72c that enters behind the pressing part 72b. When the parallel ruler 70 is placed on the upper table 60, the pressing part 72b faces the front surface of the upper table 60 via the leaf spring 72c. By axially rotating the operating part 72a in the tightening direction, the pressing part 72b presses against the front surface of the upper table 60. This allows the parallel ruler 70 to be fixed at any left or right position on the upper table 60. By axially rotating the operating part 72a in the loosening direction, the pressing force of the pressing part 72b is released, and the parallel ruler 70 can be slid to any left or right position.
[0085] As shown in Figure 32, the rail 63 is C-shaped, opening upward when viewed from the left and right sides. The rail 63 has an upright surface 63a, a bottom surface 63b, and a second upright surface 63c. The upright surface 63a extends slightly backward and upward from the rear end of the top surface 60a. The bottom surface 63b extends approximately horizontally backward from the lower end of the upright surface 63a. The second upright surface 63c extends upward from the rear end of the bottom surface 63b. The upright surface 63a and the second upright surface 63c face each other in the front-rear direction. The upright surface 63a, the bottom surface 63b, and the second upright surface 63c work together to form a groove 63d that extends in the left-right direction. The distance between the upright surface 63a and the second upright surface 63c in the front-rear direction is wider towards the lower end of the groove 63d and gradually narrows towards the upper opening of the groove 63d, forming a reverse slope. Therefore, the insertion portion 76a of the sliding member 76, which is inserted into the groove 63d of the rail 63, is prevented from coming out upward from the groove 63d.
[0086] As shown in Figure 32, a tongue-shaped piece 75a is provided at the rear end of the rail-side support 75. The tongue-shaped piece 75a faces the upright surface 63a of the rail 63 in the front-rear direction, with the sliding member 76 in between. Therefore, when the pressing member 72 (see Figure 3) is tightened, the tongue-shaped piece 75a and the upright surface 63a move closer together in the front-rear direction, with the sliding member 76 in between. This allows the parallel guide 70 to be fixed to the upper table 60 by operating only the front pressing member 72. Furthermore, by inserting, for example, a sliding member 76 made of polyacetal, the position of the rail-side support 75 is aligned so that the upright surface 63a and the tongue-shaped piece 75a are perpendicular to each other. This suppresses twisting of the rail-side support 75 relative to the rail 63.
[0087] As shown in Figure 33, the support member 73 has a ruler-side support 74 and a rail-side support 75. The ruler-side support 74 is box-shaped with an open lower end. The ruler-side support 74 is fixed immovably to the ruler base 71a. The rail-side support 75 is T-shaped when viewed from above. The rail-side support 75 is connected to the ruler-side support 74 by a connecting mechanism 78 so as to be position-adjustable.
[0088] As shown in Figures 15 and 33, the rear upper surface of the ruler base 71a is provided with a front through-hole 71i and a rear through-hole 71j that penetrate in the front-to-back direction. The rear through-hole 71j is approximately circular. The front through-hole 71i is an oval shape that is longer in the left-to-right direction than the rear through-hole 71j. The left and right sides of the rear of the ruler base 71a are provided with circular insertion holes 71h that penetrate in the left-to-right direction. The upper surface 74b of the ruler-side support 74 is provided with two cylindrical holes, a front cylindrical hole portion 74d and a rear cylindrical hole portion 74e. The front cylindrical hole portion 74d and the rear cylindrical hole portion 74e are located at approximately the same front-to-back positions as the front through-hole 71i and the rear through-hole 71j of the ruler base 71a, respectively.
[0089] As shown in Figures 32 and 33, the front cylindrical hole portion 74d has a hole wall 74f that is approximately the same oval shape as the front through hole 71i when viewed from above. A substantially horizontal stepped surface 74g is provided at the lower end of the hole wall 74f. A leg insertion hole 74h that penetrates vertically is provided in the center of the stepped surface 74g. The leg insertion hole 74h communicates with the housing portion 74a on the inside of the ruler-side support 74. The leg insertion hole 74h of the front cylindrical hole portion 74d is an oval shape that is slightly smaller than the hole wall 74f when viewed from above. A front thread member 78a, for example, called a pan head screw, is inserted through the front cylindrical hole portion 74d. A gap is provided horizontally between the hole wall 74f and the head 78c of the front thread member 78a. The leg insertion hole 74h is provided to be sized so that the leg portion 78d of the front threaded member 78a can be inserted through it, but the head portion 78c cannot. A gap is provided between the leg insertion hole 74h and the leg portion 78d in the horizontal direction. The gap between the hole wall 74f and the head portion 78c, and the gap between the leg insertion hole 74h and the leg portion 78d can be used to adjust the horizontal position of the front threaded member 78a relative to the front cylindrical hole portion 74d, and can be adjusted particularly significantly in the left-right direction.
[0090] As shown in Figures 32 and 33, the rear cylindrical hole portion 74e has a hole wall 74f that is approximately the same circular shape as the rear through hole 71j when viewed from above. Similar to the front cylindrical hole portion 74d, it is provided with a substantially horizontal stepped surface 74g and a leg insertion hole 74h that penetrates in the vertical direction. The leg insertion hole 74h communicates with the housing portion 74a on the inside of the ruler-side support 74. The leg insertion hole 74h of the rear cylindrical hole portion 74e is circular in shape, slightly smaller than the hole wall 74f when viewed from above. A rear threaded member 78b, for example, called a pan head screw, is inserted through the rear cylindrical hole portion 74e. Similar to the front cylindrical hole portion 74d, a gap is provided between the hole wall 74f and the head 78c of the rear threaded member 78b in the horizontal direction, and between the leg insertion hole 74h and the leg 78d in the horizontal direction. Therefore, the horizontal position of the rear threaded member 78b can be adjusted with respect to the rear cylinder bore portion 74e.
[0091] As shown in Figures 32 and 33, the left and right sides of the ruler-side support 74 are provided with notches 74j that extend upward from the lower end and penetrate in the left-right direction. A nut is provided inside the notch 74j as a female threaded portion 74i. A fixing screw 71g is inserted through the insertion hole 71h of the ruler base 71a and the notch 74j of the ruler-side support 74 and fastened to the female threaded portion 74i. This fixes the ruler-side support 74 so that it cannot move.
[0092] As shown in Figures 31 and 33, the rail-side support 75 has a tapered portion 75b that extends forward approximately perpendicular to the sliding member 76. The tapered portion 75b gradually narrows in width from side to side as it extends forward. The tapered portion 75b is housed in the housing portion 74a of the ruler-side support 74. Because the tapered portion 75b is tapered towards the front, there is a large gap between the tip (front end) of the tapered portion 75b and the left and right sides of the housing portion 74a. The length of the rail-side support 75 in the front-rear direction from the tip of the tapered portion 75b to the tongue piece 75a is, for example, 1 / 3 or less of the length of the ruler body 71 in the front-rear direction. The front tip and rear base of the tapered portion 75b are each provided with a female screw portion 75c that penetrates in the vertical direction.
[0093] As shown in Figure 32, a front threaded member 78a, inserted through the front cylindrical hole 74d, and a rear threaded member 78b, inserted through the rear cylindrical hole 74e, are fastened to each female threaded portion 75c. By fastening the front threaded member 78a and the rear threaded member 78b to the female threaded portion 75c while adjusting their positions, the accuracy of the connecting mechanism 78 that connects the ruler-side support 74 and the rail-side support 75 can be improved. This improves the accuracy of the perpendicularity between the longitudinal direction of the ruler body 71 and the longitudinal direction of the sliding member 76. For example, the rear threaded member 78b, which has a small position adjustment range, is first fastened to the female threaded portion 75c of the rail-side support 75 (see Figure 31). While rotating the ruler body 71 around the rear threaded member 78b, the position of the front threaded member 78a, which has a large position adjustment range, is adjusted and fastened to the female threaded portion 75c of the rail-side support 75. This improves the efficiency of the work of accurately positioning the rail-side support 75 relative to the ruler-side support 74.
[0094] As shown in Figure 14, the material contact member 71d is slidably attached to the left side surface 71c of the ruler base 71a. The material contact surface 71e of the material contact member 71d extends to the left of the side surface 71c of the ruler base 71a and parallel to the side surface 71c. An axially rotating operating part 71f is provided on the right side of the ruler base 71a, opposite to the material contact member 71d. By tightening the operating part 71f, the material contact member 71d can be fixed at any front-to-back position relative to the ruler base 71a. By loosening the operating part 71f, the fixing force is released and the material contact member 71d can be slid in the front-to-back direction relative to the ruler base 71a. <Blade cover 80 and push stick 85>
[0095] As shown in Figure 34, the blade cover 80 is a box shape that is long in the front-to-back direction. Hereafter, the up, down, left, and right directions of the blade cover 80 will be based on the orientation when used in table saw mode unless otherwise specified. The blade cover 80 has two side parts: a left side part 80a and a right side part 80b. The left side part 80a and the right side part 80b are upright in the vertical direction and extend long in the front-to-back direction. The upper ends of the left side part 80a and the right side part 80b are at a substantially constant height from the front end to the rear end. As shown in Figure 18, the left side part 80a covers the lower part of the saw blade 14 from the left. The upper end of the left side part 80a is positioned immediately below the lower end of the fixed cover 12 so that the vertical gap is small. As shown in Figures 3 and 22, the right side part 80b covers the lower part of the saw blade 14 from the right. The upper end of the right side portion 80b is located to the upper right of the lower end of the fixing cover 12, and covers the fixing cover 12 from the right.
[0096] As shown in Figure 34, the front ends of the left side portion 80a and the right side portion 80b are connected in the left-right direction by the front connecting portion 80c. The front connecting portion 80c stands upright in the vertical direction. As shown in Figures 18 and 22, the upper end of the front connecting portion 80c is located in front and above the lower end of the fixed cover 12, covering the fixed cover 12 from the front. The front connecting portion 80c covers the lower part of the saw blade 14 from the front.
[0097] As shown in Figure 34, the lower rear ends of the left side portion 80a and the right side portion 80b are connected in the left-right direction by the rear connecting portion 80d. The rear connecting portion 80d gradually slopes upward toward the rear. As shown in Figure 4, 18, the rear connecting portion 80d covers the lower part of the saw blade 14 from the rear. The rear connecting portion 80d extends smoothly from the upper surface 3a of the turntable 3 toward the dust collection port 24b of the dust collection guide 24.
[0098] As shown in Figures 34 and 35, a left upper surface portion 80e is provided at the upper end of the center in the front-to-back direction of the left side surface portion 80a. The left upper surface portion 80e extends approximately horizontally to the right from the left side surface portion 80a. A right upper surface portion 80f is provided at the upper end of the center in the front-to-back direction of the right side surface portion 80b. The right upper surface portion 80f extends approximately horizontally to the left from the right side surface portion 80b. The two upper surfaces, the left upper surface portion 80e and the right upper surface portion 80f, face each other in the left-to-right direction. The left-to-right projection lengths of the left upper surface portion 80e and the right upper surface portion 80f are longer than the distance between each saw blade 14. The left upper surface portion 80e and the right upper surface portion 80f narrow the left-to-right gap between each saw blade 14 (see Figure 17). This suppresses the scattering of dust upward from the blade cover 80.
[0099] As shown in Figures 34 and 35, a left central lower surface 80g is provided at the lower end of the left side surface 80a. The left central lower surface 80g is located behind the left upper surface 80e. The left central lower surface 80g protrudes to the right with approximately the same width as the left upper surface 80e. The left central lower surface 80g is provided with an inclined portion 80i that slopes upward toward the rear. A right central lower surface 80h is provided at the lower end of the right side surface 80b. The right central lower surface 80h is located behind the right upper surface 80f. The left central lower surface 80g protrudes to the left with approximately the same width as the left upper surface 80e and faces the left central lower surface 80g in the left-right direction. The right central lower surface 80h is also provided with an inclined portion 80i that slopes upward toward the rear.
[0100] As shown in Figures 34 and 35, the left central lower section 80g and the right central lower section 80h narrow the gap in the left-right direction relative to the respective saw blades 14 (see Figure 17). This suppresses the scattering of dust downwards from the blade cover 80. The inclined sections 80i provided on the left central lower section 80g and the right central lower section 80h allow dust to be efficiently directed to the rear connecting section 80d, which is inclined upwards toward the rear.
[0101] As shown in Figures 34 and 35, a rear lower section 80p is provided at the lower ends of the left side section 80a and the right side section 80b, respectively. The rear lower section 80p is located behind the left central lower section 80g and the right central lower section 80h. The rear lower section 80p is integrally connected to the front end of the rear connecting section 80d. The rear lower section 80p extends laterally with approximately the same width as the left central lower section 80g and the right central lower section 80h. The rear lower section 80p is located below the rear upper ends of the left central lower section 80g and the right central lower section 80h.
[0102] As shown in Figures 34 and 35, an opening 80j is provided between the rear lower surface 80p and the left central lower surface 80g in the front-rear direction. An opening 80j is also provided between the rear lower surface 80p and the right central lower surface 80h in the front-rear direction. Dust leaking from the left central lower surface 80g and the right central lower surface 80h can be collected again on the rear lower surface 80p through the opening 80j and further sent to the rear connecting section 80d (see Figure 36).
[0103] As shown in Figure 34, a hook-shaped engaging portion 80k is provided at the upper left end of the front connecting portion 80c. As shown in Figure 25, the blade cover 80 can be placed on the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60 in an inverted position when used in tabletop circular saw mode. The blade cover 80 is placed so as to cover the upper cover 64. The front connecting portion 80c also serves as an enclosure that covers the front of the upper part of the saw blade 14 when the blade cover 80 is placed on the upper table 60. This prevents dust from scattering towards the user from the through hole 60c (see Figure 1) of the upper table 60. The engaging portion 80k is hooked onto the front surface of the upper table 60 by clamping it from above and below. This allows the blade cover 80 to be positioned relative to the upper table 60.
[0104] As shown in Figure 34, a columnar stopper contact portion 80m extending vertically is provided on the rear right side of the right side portion 80b. As shown in Figure 3, the stopper contact portion 80m contacts the cover contact portion 53b of the lifting stopper 53 when the blade cover 80 is placed on the turntable 3. As shown in Figure 36, a lower projection portion 80n is provided that protrudes downward from the lower end of the blade cover 80. The lower projection portion 80n engages with the turntable 3 (see Figure 1). This prevents dust inside the blade cover 80 from scattering through the gap between it and the turntable 3.
[0105] As shown in Figures 18 and 34, an elastic member 82 is provided as a mounting portion 81 to the right of the center in the front-rear direction of the left side portion 80a. The elastic member 82 is, for example, a leaf spring. The elastic member 82 is fixed to the left side portion 80a at its lower base portion 82a. The elastic member 82 can elastically hold accessories with a retaining piece 82b that extends upward. For example, the central part of the stick body 85a of a push stick 85 can be detachably held by the elastic member 82.
[0106] As shown in Figures 18 and 34, a through-hole 83 is provided on the rear right side of the left side surface 80a, serving as a mounting portion 81 that penetrates in the front-to-back direction. Accessories can be inserted through the through-hole 83 to hold them. For example, the tip of the push stick 85 on the material contact portion 85c side can be inserted through the through-hole 83 to hold it. By holding the push stick 85 with the elastic member 82 and the through-hole 83, the gripping portion 85b of the push stick 85 extends forward. The gripping portion 85b protrudes forward, for example, beyond the outer peripheral wall 3b of the turntable 3. A part of the gripping portion 85b is located below the upper surface 3a of the turntable 3. When used in table saw mode, the push stick 85, the elastic member 82, and the through-hole 83 are all positioned below the upper surface 60a of the upper table 60. As shown in Figure 16, the push stick 85 is held so that it fits between the left and right ends of the turntable 3 in the left-right direction.
[0107] As described above, the tabletop circular saw 1 with an upper table has a cutting machine body 10, an upper table 60, and a blade cover 80, as shown in Figures 22, 34, and 35. The cutting machine body 10 is positioned to swing up and down around the rear upper part of the turntable 3 and is fitted with a saw blade 14. The upper table 60 is positioned above the cutting machine body 10, with the upper part of the saw blade 14 protruding from it. The blade cover 80 is removablely attached to the upper surface of the turntable 3 when the cutting machine body 10 is held at the bottom dead center and covers the saw blade 14. The blade cover 80 has left and right side parts 80a, 80b, connecting parts 80c, 80d, and upper parts 80e, 80f. The left and right side parts 80a, 80b cover the left and right sides of the saw blade 14. The connecting parts 80c, 80d connect the left and right side parts 80a, 80b. The upper portions 80e and 80f protrude toward the saw blade 14 from the upper part of at least one of the left and right side portions 80a and 80b.
[0108] Therefore, when the blade cover 80 is attached to the bottom of the cutting machine body 10 in table saw mode, the upper parts 80e and 80f narrow the gap between the saw blade 14 and the left and right side parts 80a and 80b. As a result, dust generated when cutting the workpiece is discharged upward between the saw blade 14 and the blade cover 80, preventing it from scattering.
[0109] As shown in Figure 35, the amount that the upper portions 80e and 80f protrude from the saw blade 14 is longer than the distance between the upper portions 80e and 80f and the saw blade 14. Therefore, the gap between the saw blade 14 and the upper portions 80e and 80f of the blade cover 80 becomes smaller. As a result, dust is more reliably prevented from being discharged upward and scattered between the saw blade 14 and the blade cover 80.
[0110] As shown in Figures 34 and 35, the left upper surface portion 80e is provided on the left side portion 80a. The right upper surface portion 80f is provided on the right side portion 80b. Therefore, dust can be discharged upward and scattered in the gaps between the saw blade 14 and the left side portion 80a, and between the saw blade 14 and the right side portion 80b.
[0111] As shown in Figures 34 and 35, the blade cover 80 has central lower portions 80g and 80h. The central lower portions 80g and 80h protrude toward the saw blade 14 from the lower part of at least one of the longitudinal centers of the left and right side portions 80a and 80b. Therefore, dust inside the blade cover 80 can be guided to the rear of the blade cover 80 and discharged by the central lower portions 80g and 80h.
[0112] As shown in Figures 34 and 35, a left central lower section 80g is provided on the left side surface 80a. A right central lower section 80h is provided on the right side surface 80b. In the gaps between the saw blade 14 and the left side surface 80a, and between the saw blade 14 and the right side surface 80b, dust inside the blade cover 80 can be guided to the rear of the blade cover 80 and discharged.
[0113] As shown in Figures 34-36, the left central lower section 80g or the right central lower section 80h includes an inclined section 80i that slopes upward from front to rear. Therefore, dust can be guided along the inclined section 80i toward the rear and upward of the blade cover 80. For example, dust can be suitably discharged by providing a dust collection port 24b above and behind the blade cover 80.
[0114] As shown in Figures 34-36, the blade cover 80 has an opening 80j. The opening 80j opens downward behind the central lower portion 80g, 80h. Therefore, dust that leaks from the central lower portion 80g, 80h can be collected back into the blade cover 80 at the opening 80j. This improves dust collection efficiency.
[0115] As shown in Figures 14 and 25, the upper table 60 has a through hole 60c. The upper part of the saw blade 14 protrudes from the through hole 60c. The blade cover 80 includes a surrounding portion 80c. The surrounding portion 80c is detachably mounted on the upper surface of the upper table 60 and surrounds the through hole 60c and shields the area in front of the through hole 60c. Therefore, when used in tabletop circular saw mode, the blade cover 80 can be placed on the upper surface of the upper table 60 so as to surround the through hole 60c. This prevents dust from scattering from the through hole 60c towards the operator, as the surrounding portion 80c of the blade cover 80 can suppress this.
[0116] As shown in Figure 25, an engaging portion 80k is provided at the front of the blade cover 80. The engaging portion 80k engages with the upper table 60. Therefore, when used in tabletop circular saw mode, the blade cover 80 can be stably held on the upper table 60.
[0117] As shown in Figures 22, 25, 34, and 35, the tabletop circular saw 1 with an upper table has a cutting machine body 10, an upper table 60, and a blade cover 80. The blade cover 80 has left and right side parts 80a, 80b and connecting parts 80c, 80d. The left and right side parts 80a, 80b cover the left and right sides of the saw blade 14. The connecting parts 80c, 80d connect the left and right side parts 80a, 80b. The blade cover 80 is removable when placed on the upper surface of the upper table 60, and its left and right side portions 80a and 80b cover the left and right upper surfaces of the saw blade 14, while its connecting portions 80c and 80d shield the front of the through hole 60c.
[0118] Therefore, when used in tabletop circular saw mode, the blade cover 80 can be placed on the upper surface of the upper table 60 so as to surround the through-hole 60c. This prevents dust from scattering from the through-hole 60c towards the operator, as the surrounding portion 80c of the blade cover 80 can suppress this.
[0119] Next, a second embodiment of the present disclosure will be described with reference to Figure 37. The tabletop circular saw 90 with an upper table of the second embodiment has an elastic member 92 as the mounting part 91, instead of the elastic member 82 of the mounting part 81 shown in Figure 18. In the following description, only the parts that differ from the first embodiment will be described in detail. The elastic member 92 has the same shape as the elastic member 82 and is provided below the elastic member 82. As a result, the push stick 85 held by the elastic member 92 of the mounting part 91 and the insertion hole 83 is inclined downward and forward more than in the first embodiment. As a result, the length of the gripping part 85b of the push stick 85, which is located below the upper surface 3a of the turntable 3, becomes longer. This allows the gripping part 85b of the push stick 85 to be positioned in a location that is easily visible to the user located on the front side of the tabletop circular saw 90 with an upper table.
[0120] Various modifications can be made to the tabletop circular saw 1, 90 with an upper table described above. For example, it may be configured to be usable as a so-called sliding circular saw, in which the cutting machine body 10 slides in the front-to-back direction when using the tabletop circular saw.
[0121] The example shows a configuration in which the battery mounting section 33 is provided on the cutting machine body 10. Alternatively, for example, power may be supplied to the cutting machine body from a separate battery via a cord or the like. The capacity of the usable battery is not limited to that shown in the example and may be changed as appropriate.
[0122] In the guide mechanism 40, an example was given in which the contact member 48 engages with the rear guide member 45 to press and fix the position of both the rear guide member 45 and the fixing cover 12. Alternatively, for example, the contact member may engage with the fixing cover to fix the guide member and the fixing cover. Either the front fixing operation member 43 or the rear fixing operation member 46 may be positioned on the side opposite the motor 30 (left side) relative to the saw blade 14, or both may be positioned on the left side.
[0123] The first connecting portion 20a, which is the rotation center of the movable cover 20, and the second connecting portion 21a, which is the rotation center of the auxiliary cover 21, do not need to be in different positions from each other. For example, they may be located on the same side with respect to the saw blade 14. It is even better if the arrangement reduces the rotation diameter of the auxiliary cover 21.
[0124] The materials, shapes, etc., of the sliding member 76 and the front sliding member 77 are not limited to those exemplified and may be changed as appropriate. For example, one or both of the sliding member and the front sliding member may be attached to the upper table 60.
[0125] Any or all of the upper surface, central lower surface, inclined surface, opening, etc., provided on the blade cover 80 may be provided only on one side of the saw blade 14. The mounting portion 81 may be provided on either the left or right side of the blade cover 80. The mounting portion 81 may hold accessories other than the push stick 85, such as a hex wrench.
