PATENT DOCUMENT 1

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED BY THE INVENTION

[0004] The junction box accommodates a relay portion for relaying wiring connecting a battery and an inverter, and wiring connecting the battery and a high-voltage auxiliary device. Since a high-voltage current from the battery flows through the relay portion in the junction box, the junction box must be protected from collisions.

[0005] However, in the vehicle according to Patent Document 1, when a collision (particularly a frontal collision) occurs, the junction box comes into contact with a dash panel (which partitions the motor room and the vehicle compartment) or equipment disposed in front of the dash panel.

[0006] An object of the present disclosure is to protect the junction box at the time of a vehicle collision.

MEANS FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEM

[0007] The vehicle junction box structure according to this disclosure comprises a motor, a transmission connected to the motor, a case housing the motor and the transmission, an inverter for controlling the motor, a battery for supplying power to the inverter, an auxiliary device driven by the power from the battery, and a junction box housing a relay section that relays a first wiring harness connecting the battery and the inverter and a second wiring harness connecting the battery and the auxiliary device, wherein the junction box is integrally formed with the case.

[0008] By integrally forming the junction box with the case (which houses the motor and transmission), the junction box can be protected in the event of a vehicle collision.

[0009] In one embodiment, the motor is mounted in a motor room located at the front of the vehicle such that the axial direction of the motor is in the vehicle width direction, the case has a transmission housing for housing the transmission and a motor housing for housing the motor, the transmission has a first transmission member connected to the motor and a second transmission member located either in front of or behind the first transmission member and to which power is transmitted from the first transmission member, the transmission housing includes a first housing for housing the first transmission member and a second housing for housing the second transmission member and located either in front of or behind the first housing, the motor housing is located in a position that overlaps the first housing when viewed in the axial direction, and the junction box is located in a position that overlaps the motor housing when viewed in the front-rear direction and overlaps the second housing when viewed in the axial direction.

[0010] The motor is mounted horizontally in the motor room. The junction box can be placed in the dead space enclosed by the motor housing and the second housing. This is advantageous from a layout perspective.

[0011] In one embodiment, the junction box is positioned between the dash panel that separates the passenger compartment from the motor room and the motor housing in the front-rear direction.

[0012] In a vehicle case, there is typically a collision space between the rear end of the second housing and the dashboard (or equipment located in front of the dashboard). By positioning the junction box in the dead space (enclosed by the motor housing and the second housing), a collision space can also be more easily secured between the rear end of the junction box in the vehicle case and the dashboard (or equipment located in front of the dashboard). This is advantageous in protecting the junction box during a vehicle collision (especially a frontal collision).

[0013] In one embodiment, the motor is mounted in a motor room located at the front of the vehicle such that the axial direction of the motor is in the front-rear direction, the case has a transmission housing for housing the transmission and a motor housing for housing the motor, the transmission has a first transmission member connected to the motor and a second transmission member located to the left or right of the first transmission member and to which power is transmitted from the first transmission member, the transmission housing includes a first housing for housing the first transmission member and a second housing for housing the second transmission member and located to the left or right of the first housing, the motor housing is located in a position that overlaps the first housing when viewed in the axial direction, and the junction box is located to the left or right of the motor housing and overlaps the motor housing when viewed in the vehicle width direction and overlaps the second housing when viewed in the axial direction.

[0014] The motor is mounted vertically in the motor room. The junction box can be placed in the dead space enclosed by the motor housing and the second housing. This is advantageous from a layout perspective.

[0015] In one embodiment, the case includes a first member forming a transmission housing portion that houses the transmission, and a second member forming a motor housing portion that houses the motor, wherein the junction box is formed by the second member.

[0016] By forming the junction box with the same second member as the motor housing portion, the need to prepare a new member solely for forming the junction box is reduced, and the number of components can be decreased.

[0017] In one embodiment, the junction box accommodates a fuse provided in the second wiring.

[0018] The fuse can be protected in the event of a vehicle collision.

[0019] In one embodiment, the auxiliary machine is an air conditioning compressor.

[0020] Power from the battery can drive the compressor serving as the auxiliary machine to perform air conditioning.

[0021] In one embodiment, the inverter is disposed above the case.

[0022] Even when the upper side of the case is covered by the inverter, the junction box can be laid out by forming the junction box integrally with the case. Advantageous Effects of the Invention

[0023] According to the present disclosure, the junction box can be protected in the event of a vehicle collision. Brief Description of the Drawings

[0025] Hereinafter, the present embodiment of the present disclosure will be described in detail based on the accompanying drawings. The following description of the preferred embodiment is merely exemplary in nature, and is in no way intended to limit the present disclosure, its applications, or its uses.

[0026] In the following description, front, rear, left, right, top and bottom are based on the viewpoint of the driver seated in the vehicle. The left-right direction is also referred to as the vehicle width direction.

[0027] (Vehicle) The junction box structure of vehicle 1 according to this embodiment will now be described. Figure 1 shows a front view of the motor room 2 of vehicle 1 as seen from the front. Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the motor room 2 of vehicle 1 as seen from the left front. Figure 3 shows a perspective view of the motor room 2 of vehicle 1 as seen from the right front.

[0028] As shown in Figures 1-3, a motor room 2 is located in the front part 1a of the vehicle 1. The vehicle 1 comprises a pair of front side members 3 and a dash panel 4. The pair of front side members 3 are located on both sides of the motor room 2 in the vehicle width direction and extend in the front-rear direction. The dash panel 4 is plate-shaped with the front-rear direction as its thickness direction and is located at the rear of the motor room 2.

[0029] The motor room 2 is partitioned by a pair of front side members 3 and a dash panel 4. The dash panel 4 separates the passenger compartment 5 from the motor room 2. The passenger compartment 5 is located behind the dash panel 4, and this is where the driver enters.

[0030] Vehicle 1 comprises an engine 10, a damper 15, a motor 20, a transmission 30, a case 40, an inverter 50, a battery 60, an auxiliary compressor 70, and a junction box 80.

[0031] (engine) As shown in Figures 1-3, the engine 10 is for driving the vehicle 1. The engine 10 is mounted transversely in the motor room 2. The cylinder row direction of the engine 10 is in the vehicle width direction. The crankshaft of the engine 10 extends in the vehicle width direction. The engine 10 is positioned towards the right in the motor room 2.

[0032] (Dampa) Figure 4 shows a perspective view of the damper 15 from the right rear. As shown in Figures 1-3, the damper 15 is interposed between the engine 10 and the motor 20, which will be described later. The damper 15 is positioned to the left of the engine 10. The damper 15 is there to buffer the torque fluctuations from the engine 10.

[0033] (motor) Figure 5 shows a perspective view of the motor 20 from the right rear. As shown in Figures 1-3, the motor 20 is positioned to the left of the damper 15 (which is positioned to the left of the engine 10). The motor 20 is used to drive the vehicle 1. The motor 20 is mounted transversely in the motor room 2.

[0034] As shown by the dashed line in Figure 5, the motor 20 has a drive shaft 21, a rotor 22, and a stator 23. The drive shaft 21 of the motor 20 extends in the vehicle width direction. The axial direction in which the drive shaft 21 of the motor 20 extends is the vehicle width direction. In summary, the motor 20 is mounted in the motor room 2 such that the axial direction of the motor 20 (in which the drive shaft 21 extends) is in the vehicle width direction.

[0035] Furthermore, the motor 20 may also function as a generator that performs regenerative power generation when the vehicle 1 is decelerating or when the vehicle 1 is traveling downhill.

[0036] (Transmission) Figure 6 shows a perspective view of the transmission 30 from the right rear. Figure 7 shows a perspective view of the transmission 30 from the left front. Note that Figure 6 excludes the inverter 50, which will be described later. As shown in Figures 1-3, the transmission 30 is located to the left of the motor 20. The transmission 30 is located towards the left in the motor room 2. The transmission 30 is mounted horizontally in the motor room 2.

[0037] The transmission 30 is connected to the motor 20. The transmission 30 changes the rotational speed and torque of the power from the motor 20 and / or engine 10 and transmits it to the left and right wheels 6. An actuator (not shown) is interposed between the transmission 30 and the wheels 6.

[0038] As shown by the dashed line in Figure 6, the transmission 30 has a first gear 31 as a first transmission member and a second gear 32 as a second transmission member. The first gear 31 is an example of a first transmission member. The second gear 32 is an example of a second transmission member. The first gear 31 of the transmission 30 is connected to the drive shaft 21 of the motor 20. An intermediate member may be interposed between the first gear 31 and the drive shaft 21. That is, the first gear 31 may be connected to the drive shaft 21 of the motor 20 via an intermediate member.

[0039] The second gear 32 is positioned next to the first gear 31. The second gear 32 is positioned behind the first gear 31. The second gear 32 meshes with the first gear 31. Power T is transmitted to the second gear 32 from the first gear 31 (see Figure 10). An intermediate gear may be interposed between the first gear 31 and the second gear 32. That is, the second gear 32 may mesh with the first gear 31 via an intermediate gear. Power T may be transmitted to the second gear 32 from the first gear 31 via an intermediate gear. The second gear 32 is connected to the actuator described above.

[0040] (case) As shown in Figures 4-6, the case 40 houses the motor 20 and the transmission 30. The case 40 has a first member 41, a second member 42, and a third member 43. The first member 41, the second member 42, and the third member 43 are arranged from left to right in that order. The first member 41, the second member 42, and the third member 43 are made of, for example, metal. In this example, the first member 41, the second member 42, and the third member 43 are separate parts. The case 40 has a transmission housing section 44 and a motor housing section 45.

[0041] As shown in Figure 6, the first member 41 is a roughly box-shaped structure that opens to the right. The first member 41 forms the transmission housing 44. The transmission housing 44 includes a first housing 44a and a second housing 44b. The first housing 44a is roughly circular in shape along the first gear 31. The second housing 44b is roughly circular in shape along the second gear 32. The second housing 44b is positioned rearward of the first housing 44a. The first housing 44a and the second housing 44b are in communication with each other, and lubricating oil flows between them.

[0042] The transmission housing 44 houses the transmission 30. The first housing 44a houses the first gear 31. The second housing 44b houses the second gear 32. The second housing 44b is located rearward of the first housing 44a.

[0043] As shown in Figure 5, the second member 42 is a roughly box-shaped structure that is open to the right. The second member 42 has a bottom wall portion 42a, a peripheral wall portion 42b, and peripheral wall ribs 42d, which will be described later. The bottom wall portion 42a is plate-shaped with the vehicle width direction as the thickness direction, and separates the transmission housing portion 44 from the motor housing portion 45, which will be described later. A through hole 42c is provided in the portion of the bottom wall portion 42a on the side of the first housing portion 44a (front). The drive shaft 21 of the motor 20 passes through the through hole 42c.

[0044] The peripheral wall portion 42b defines a roughly rectangular area when viewed in the vehicle width direction, is located towards the front of the second member 42 (towards the first housing portion 44a), and extends to the right from the bottom wall portion 42a. The through hole 42c is located inside the peripheral wall portion 42b when viewed in the vehicle width direction.

[0045] The second member 42 forms the motor housing 45. The motor housing 45 houses the motor 20. The motor housing 45 is formed by the bottom wall portion 42a and the peripheral wall portion 42b of the second member 42. The motor housing 45 and the first housing portion 44a of the transmission housing 44 are separated by the bottom wall portion 42a, but lubricating oil flows between them through holes provided in the bottom wall portion 42a.

[0046] The motor housing 45 is positioned to overlap the first housing 44a when viewed in the axial direction (vehicle width direction) (see Figure 10). A junction box 80, which will be described later, is formed behind the motor housing 45 in the second member 42.

[0047] As shown in Figure 4, the third member 43 is formed in a substantially plate shape with the front-to-back direction as the thickness direction. The third member 43 covers the motor housing 45 and the junction box 80 (described later) from the right. A damper 15 is positioned to the right of the third member 43.

[0048] (Inverter) Figure 8 shows the wiring diagram. In Figure 8, the two parallel lines represent the positive and negative sides. As shown in Figures 1-3, the inverter 50 is located above the case 40. The inverter 50 is fixed to the top surface of the case 40.

[0049] As shown in Figure 8, the inverter 50 controls the motor 20. The inverter 50 controls the power P supplied from the battery 60 (described later) to the motor 20. The inverter 50 converts the DC current from the battery 60 into AC current and supplies it to the motor 20.

[0050] (Battery) The battery 60 is located below the floor panel (not shown) that forms the floor of the passenger compartment 5. As shown in Figure 8, the battery 60 supplies high-voltage power P to the inverter 50. In addition, the vehicle 1 is equipped with a separate 12V battery for driving low-voltage auxiliary equipment.

[0051] (Compressor) As shown in Figure 8, the compressor 70 is an example of auxiliary equipment. The compressor 70 is for air conditioning the passenger compartment 5. The compressor 70 constitutes part of the air conditioner for air conditioning the passenger compartment 5. The compressor 70 is driven by high-voltage power P from the battery 60.

[0052] (Junction box) The structure of the junction box 80 of vehicle 1 according to this embodiment will be described with reference to Figures 8 to 10. Figure 9 is a right-side view of the junction box 80 as seen from the right. Figure 10 is a schematic diagram showing the arrangement of the junction box 80.

[0053] As shown in Figure 8, the battery 60 and the inverter 50 are connected by a common wiring 90 and a first wiring 91. The battery 60 and the compressor 70 are connected by a common wiring 90 and a second wiring 92. The common wiring 90 is on the battery 60 side of the relay section 93 described later. The first wiring 91 is on the inverter 50 side of the relay section 93 described later. The second wiring 92 is on the compressor 70 side of the relay section 93 described later. The common wiring 90, the first wiring 91 and the second wiring 92 are formed, for example, by wires or busbars.

[0054] The relay unit 93 relays the first wiring 91, which connects the battery 60 and the inverter 50, and the second wiring 92, which connects the battery 60 and the compressor 70. The relay unit 93 also serves as the connection point between the common wiring 90, the first wiring 91, and the second wiring 92.

[0055] As shown in Figures 9 and 10, the junction box 80 is roughly box-shaped. The junction box 80 houses the relay section 93.

[0056] The junction box 80 is integrally formed with the case 40. The junction box 80 is formed from the same material as the case 40. The junction box 80 is formed by a second member 42 (which forms the motor housing 45).

[0057] As shown in Figure 10, the junction box 80 is positioned behind the motor housing 45. When viewed in the front-to-back direction, the junction box 80 is positioned to overlap with the motor housing 45. In other words, the junction box 80 is positioned directly behind the motor housing 45.

[0058] The junction box 80 is positioned so as to overlap the second housing section 44b when viewed in the axial direction (vehicle width direction). In other words, the junction box 80 is positioned directly behind (to the right of) the second housing section 44b (hidden). As mentioned above, the motor housing section 45 is positioned so as to overlap the first housing section 44a when viewed in the axial direction (vehicle width direction).

[0059] The junction box 80 is located in the dead space enclosed by the motor housing section 45 and the second housing section 44b.

[0060] As shown in Figure 9, the junction box 80 is formed in the second member 42 by the bottom wall portion 42a and the circumferential wall rib 42d described above. The circumferential wall rib 42d demarcates a predetermined area when viewed in the vehicle width direction. The circumferential wall rib 42d is located towards the rear of the second member 42 and extends to the right from the bottom wall portion 42a. The circumferential wall rib 42d is located behind the circumferential wall portion 42b. The circumferential wall rib 42d is called a box rib. The junction box 80 is demarcated by the bottom wall portion 42a and the circumferential wall rib 42d of the second member 42 and the third member 43.

[0061] As shown in Figure 10, the junction box 80 is positioned in the front-rear direction between the dash panel 4 and the motor housing 45. A collision space S is secured between the rear end 46 of the second housing 44b in the first member 41 of the case 40 and the dash panel 4 (or equipment positioned in front of the dash panel 4). An example of such equipment is a brake booster.

[0062] As described above, the junction box 80 is located in the dead space enclosed by the motor housing 45 and the second housing 44b. Therefore, the position of the rear end 47 of the junction box 80 in the second member 42 of the case 40 is approximately the same as the position of the rear end 46 of the second housing 44b in the first member 41 of the case 40 in the front-rear direction. As a result, a collision space S is easily secured between the rear end 47 of the junction box 80 in the second member 42 of the case 40 and the dash panel 4 (or equipment located in front of the dash panel 4).

[0063] As shown in Figure 8, a fuse 94 is provided in the second wiring 92. The junction box 80 houses the fuse 94. The fuse 94 melts and interrupts the electrical circuit when a large current is generated in the second wiring 92.

[0064] (Effects and Benefits) By integrally forming the junction box 80 with the case 40 (which houses the motor 20 and the transmission 30), the junction box 80 (especially the relay section 93 inside it) can be protected in the event of a collision with the vehicle 1.

[0065] The motor 20 is positioned horizontally in the motor room 2. The junction box 80 can be placed in the dead space enclosed by the motor housing 45 and the second housing 44b. This is advantageous from a layout standpoint.

[0066] Normally, a collision space S is secured between the rear end 46 of the second housing section 44b in the first member 41 of case 40 and the dash panel 4 (or equipment positioned in front of the dash panel 4). By positioning the junction box 80 in the dead space (enclosed by the motor housing section 45 and the second housing section 44b), a collision space S can also be more easily secured between the rear end 47 of the junction box 80 in the second member 42 of case 40 and the dash panel 4 (or equipment positioned in front of the dash panel 4). This is advantageous in protecting the junction box 80 during a collision of vehicle 1 (especially a frontal collision). The dead space can be effectively utilized while securing the collision space S.

[0067] By forming the junction box 80 with the same second member 42 as the motor housing 45, the need to prepare a new member solely for forming the junction box 80 is reduced, thereby reducing the number of parts.

[0068] The junction box 80 houses the fuse 94 located on the second wiring 92. In the event of a collision with vehicle 1, the fuse 94 can be protected.

[0069] The power P from the battery 60 can be used to drive the auxiliary compressor 70, which can then provide air conditioning to the passenger compartment 5.

[0070] Even if the top of case 40 is blocked by inverter 50, the junction box 80 can be laid out by integrally forming the junction box 80 with case 40.

[0071] (Other embodiments) Although this disclosure has been described above with reference to preferred embodiments, this description is not limiting, and various modifications, substitutions, or combinations are, of course, possible.

[0072] In the above embodiment, the first member 41, the second member 42, and the third member 43 were separate components, but the embodiment is not limited to this. The first member 41, the second member 42, and the third member 43 may be integral components of each other.

[0073] The auxiliary equipment 70 is not limited to a compressor. The auxiliary equipment 70 may also be, for example, an electric pump, a PTC heater (Positive Temperature Coefficient Heater), an OBC (Onboard Charger), an AC-DC inverter (onboard power supply), or a DC-DC converter (between a low-voltage battery and a high-voltage battery).

[0074] The second housing section 44b (second gear 32) may be positioned in front of the first housing section 44a (first gear 31). In that case, it is preferable that the junction box 80 be positioned in front of the motor housing section 45. That is, if the second housing section 44b (second gear 32) is positioned either in front of or behind the first housing section 44a (first gear 31), it is preferable that the junction box 80 be positioned either in front of or behind the motor housing section 45.

[0075] Figure 11 schematically shows the arrangement of the junction box 80 according to another embodiment. The motor 20 may be mounted vertically in the motor room 2. That is, the motor 20 may be mounted in the motor room 2 such that the axial direction of the motor 20 (from which the drive shaft 21 extends) is in the front-rear direction. The second housing section 44b (second gear 32) may be positioned to the left or to the right of the first housing section 44a (first gear 31). In this case, it is preferable that the junction box 80 is positioned to the left or to the right of the motor housing section 45 (the same one), overlapping the motor housing section 45 when viewed in the vehicle width direction and overlapping the second housing section when viewed in the axial direction (front-rear direction).

[0076] In this example, the motor 20 is mounted vertically in the motor room 2. Even in this case, the junction box 80 can be placed in the dead space enclosed by the motor housing 45 and the second housing 44b. This is advantageous from a layout standpoint.

[0077] The junction box 80 may be placed anywhere, as long as it is integrally formed with the case 40.

[0078] The first transmission member 31 and the second transmission member 32 may be composed of transmission members other than gears (for example, pulleys, chains, belts, etc.). [Industrial applicability]

[0079] This disclosure is extremely useful and has high industrial applicability because it can be applied to the junction box structure of a vehicle. [Explanation of Symbols]
