SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
PROBLEMS TO BE SOLVED BY THE INVENTION
[0005] Incidentally, azulene compounds such as azulene and sodium azulene sulfonate have low photostability, and thus easily cause photolysis, which may lead to discoloration of the composition. However, in any of the above patent documents, the composition still has to be stored under light-shielded conditions.
[0006] Therefore, the present invention relates to an oral composition that contains an azulene compound and can effectively suppress discoloration even under light exposure. [Means for solving the problem]
[0007] Therefore, the inventors conducted diligent research to solve the above problems and have found an oral composition that effectively enhances the photostability of the azulene compound and effectively suppresses discoloration of the composition even during storage under light exposure, by containing an azulene compound and sodium saccharin in a specific mass ratio, and further containing a specific fragrance component.
[0008] In other words, the present invention comprises the following components (A) to (C): (A) One or more azulene compounds selected from azulene, azulene sulfonic acid, and azulene sulfonate salts. (B) Sodium saccharin (C) One or more fragrance components selected from eugenol, geraniol, linalool, camphor, anethole, thymol, terpinolene, and cineole. The present invention provides an oral composition containing the above, wherein the mass ratio ((B) / (A)) of the content of component (B) to the content of component (A) is 3 or more and 50 or less. [Effects of the Invention]
[0009] The oral composition of the present invention effectively enhances the photostability of the azulene compound, effectively suppressing discoloration of the composition even during storage under light exposure. Therefore, the container for filling the oral composition is not limited to whether or not it is made of a light-shielding material, allowing for greater freedom in selecting the type of container. [Brief explanation of the drawing]

[0011] The present invention will be described in detail below. In this invention, "composition under light exposure" means a composition that is exposed to light, such as natural light or artificial lighting, and includes, for example, a composition that is stored in a container that does not have light-shielding properties and is exposed to light.
[0012] The oral composition of the present invention contains one or more azulene compounds selected from azulene, azulene sulfonic acid, and azulene sulfonate as component (A). Since such component (A) has low photostability, it may easily decompose in photos and cause discoloration of the composition. For this reason, compositions containing it usually need to be stored under light shielding conditions, such as by filling them into light-shielding containers. However, with the oral composition of the present invention, photostability is effectively enhanced, and discoloration of the composition can be effectively suppressed even under light exposure.
[0013] Examples of azulene sulfonates include alkali metal salts such as sodium salts and potassium salts; alkaline earth metal salts such as calcium salts and magnesium salts; metal salts other than alkali metal salts and alkaline earth metal salts such as aluminum; ammonium salts; carboxylate salts such as acetate, palmitate, stearate, fumarate, and citrate; organic amine salts such as methylamine salt, triethylamine salt, triethanolamine salt, morpholine salt, piperazine salt, pyrrolidine salt, tripyridine salt, and picoline salt; and inorganic salts such as hydrochloride salt, sulfate salt, nitrate salt, hydrobromide salt, and phosphate salt.

[0038] The container for filling the oral composition of the present invention is not limited to a container made of a light-shielding material such as a metallic layer of aluminum, but can also be made of a material without a metallic layer or a transparent material, as it does not require consideration of the discoloration of the oral composition over time. Therefore, the oral composition of the present invention is a highly useful oral composition because it allows for greater freedom in selecting the type of container for filling it.
[0039] Furthermore, the present invention is also highly useful as a method for suppressing discoloration of an oral composition containing the above component (A) under light exposure. The content and quantitative relationships of each component are the same as described above.
[0040] With the method of the present invention, even if the oral composition containing the above component (A) is filled into a container made of a material that does not have a metallic layer or a container made of a transparent material, discoloration of the oral composition under light exposure can be effectively suppressed, so there is no need to worry about storage in environments exposed to light. [Examples]
[0041] The present invention will be described in detail below based on examples. Unless otherwise specified in the table, the content of each component is expressed in mass percent.
[0042] [Examples 1-15, Comparative Examples 1-6] Each oral composition (Table 1: viscosity at 25°C = approximately 2500 dPa·s, pH = approximately 6.7; Table 2: pH = approximately 6.5) was prepared according to the formulations shown in Tables 1 and 2. Then, the discoloration-inhibiting effect of each obtained oral composition was evaluated according to the method described below. The oral compositions shown in Table 1 correspond to liquid oral compositions, and the oral compositions shown in Table 2 correspond to toothpaste compositions. A corresponding evaluation method for the discoloration-inhibiting effect was used for each. The results are shown in Tables 1 and 2.
[0043] Evaluation of the discoloration suppression effect 1. Evaluation of the discoloration suppression effect when the oral composition is a liquid oral composition. 80 mL of each obtained oral composition was filled into a transparent container (container body material: polyethylene terephthalate or polystyrene) and stored for one week at 25°C while being illuminated with an LED (Light Emitting Diode) light source lamp. For both the oral composition before and after storage, the absorbance (Abs) of each was measured using a microplate recorder (TECAN, Sunrise Rainbow Thermo, a tunable absorbance microplate reader) while the oral composition was still filled in its container. 577nm The values were measured, and the percentage of color change was calculated by substituting the obtained values into the following formula. Next, based on the obtained color change rate values, the color change rate values of each oral composition were recalculated as the color change suppression effect (%) value, with the color change suppression effect of Comparative Example 1 set to 0%, and this was used as an evaluation index. Color change rate (%) = {(Absorbance of oral composition before storage Abs 577nm - Absorbance of oral composition after storage (Abs) 577nm Absorbance of oral composition before storage (Abs) 577nm}×100
[0044] Figures 1 and 2 show photographs of both the oral compositions before and after storage for Examples 1-2, 8-9, and Comparative Examples 1-3 and 5.
[0045] 2. Evaluation of the discoloration-inhibiting effect when the oral composition is a toothpaste composition. Ten g of each obtained oral composition was filled into a transparent container (container body material: polystyrene) and stored for one week at 25°C while being illuminated by a fluorescent lamp with a color temperature of 6700K. The L*, a*, and b* values were measured for both the oral composition before and after storage using a spectrophotometer (CM-700d, manufactured by Konica Minolta Optics, Inc.). The color difference formula (ΔE*ab = [(ΔL*)) 2 +(Δa*) 2 +(Δb*) 2 The color difference before and after storage was calculated according to (1 / 2), and the discoloration suppression effect of each oral composition was calculated when the discoloration suppression effect of Comparative Example 6 was set to 0%.
