Summary of the Invention

Problems to be Solved by the Invention

[0004] Generally, molding jigs for forming composite materials use alloys such as Invar to ensure accuracy due to differences in thermal expansion. Because Invar has a high density, the structure must be designed to suppress deflection due to the weight of the molding jig, which increases the total weight of the molding jig. As a result, the heat capacity of the molding jig becomes large, making it difficult to satisfy the required heating temperature of the composite material during its thermosetting. On the other hand, if a lighter material than Invar is used, demolding the composite material laminated on the molding jig becomes difficult due to differences in thermal expansion. For example, if the composite material to be molded has a closed cross-section with corners, demolding at the corners becomes even more difficult.

[0005] Therefore, the object of this disclosure is to provide a molding jig for composite materials and a molding method for composite materials that can reduce weight while facilitating the demolding of the mold. [Means for solving the problem]

[0006] The molding jig for composite materials of the present disclosure comprises an axially extending cylindrical mold with a molding surface on its outer circumference on which the composite materials are laminated, the mold being made of a material with a density lower than Invar, and having a plurality of mold pieces arranged in a circumferential direction with respect to the axial direction and connected in a separable manner.

[0007] The present disclosure is a molding method for a composite material using the above-described molding jig for the composite material, comprising the steps of: preparing a mold in which a plurality of mold pieces are connected; laminating the uncured composite material onto the molding surface of the mold; curing the composite material; and demolding the mold from the cured composite material, wherein in the step of demolding the mold, the connections between the plurality of mold pieces are released, and the mold is divided into a plurality of mold pieces. [Effects of the Invention]

[0008] According to this disclosure, it is possible to reduce weight while making it easier to demold the mold. [Brief explanation of the drawing]

[0010] Embodiments relating to this disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings. However, these embodiments do not limit this disclosure. Furthermore, some components in the embodiments described below are substituted or substantially identical to those easily substituted by those skilled in the art. Moreover, the components described below can be combined as appropriate, and if there are multiple embodiments, each embodiment can be combined.

[0011] [First Embodiment] The composite material molding jig 1 according to the first embodiment rotates around a rotation axis I, and the molding surface formed on its outer circumference rotates. In the composite material molding method using the molding jig 1, a composite material that becomes a laminate is formed by wrapping a composite material such as a prepreg around the rotating molding surface and laminating it. The laminated composite material has a closed cross-section when cut by a plane perpendicular to the axial direction of the rotation axis I. First, the molding jig 1 will be described with reference to Figures 1 and 2.

[0012] (Molding jig) Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view showing a composite material molding jig according to the first embodiment. Figure 2 is a schematic diagram of the connecting structure in the composite material molding jig according to the first embodiment. As shown in Figure 1, the molding jig 1 comprises a mold 11, a pair of mounting members 12, a pair of shaft portions 13, and a bearing portion 14.

[0013] The mold 11 is formed in a cylindrical shape with the axial direction of the rotation axis I as its longitudinal direction. The outer surface of the mold 11 in the radial direction perpendicular to the axial direction is the molding surface. Furthermore, the cross-section of the mold 11, when cut by a plane perpendicular to it at a predetermined position in the axial direction, is a closed cross-section. In other words, the mold 11 has a closed, annular cross-section without any openings at a predetermined cross-section. For this reason, the mold 11 has a shape that is continuous in the circumferential direction of the rotation axis I.

[0014] The mold 11 is made of a material with a lower density than Invar. Invar is a nickel-iron alloy (Fe-Ni 36%) and is a low thermal expansion alloy. For example, the mold 11 can be made of heat-resistant BMI (POLYBISMALEIMIDES) resin. However, the material used for the mold 11 is not limited to BMI resin; other composite materials or lightweight metals such as aluminum or aluminum alloys may also be used. The density of the material used for the mold 11 is lighter than Invar, for example, 8.0 g / cm³. 3 It is preferable that it be smaller than ).

[0015] The molding die 11 includes a plurality of mold pieces 21, a fastening member 22, a sealing material 23, an inner bag 24, an inner breather 25, and a sealant 26.

[0016] Multiple mold pieces 21 are arranged in a circumferential direction and are connected in a divisible manner. As shown in Figure 2, each mold piece 21 has a pair of flange portions 31 provided on both sides in the circumferential direction. The pair of flange portions 31 protrude inward toward the rotation axis I. The flange portions 31 are connected to the flange portions 31 of adjacent mold pieces 21 by fastening members 22.

[0017] The molding die 11 has a quadrangular shape in which a cross section taken along a plane perpendicular to the axial direction includes, for example, four corner portions 11a and four side portions 11b between adjacent corner portions 11a. The cross section of the molding die 11 is not limited to a quadrangular shape, and is not particularly limited as long as it is a shape including a plurality of corner portions 11a and a plurality of side portions 11b. That is, the cross section of the molding die 11 may be triangular or pentagonal. In this case, the plurality of die pieces 21 include corner die pieces 21a that are the die pieces 21 corresponding to the corner portions 11a, and side die pieces 21b that are the die pieces 21 corresponding to the side portions 11b.

[0018] Both circumferential sides of the corner die piece 21a are defined as split surfaces facing the side die pieces 21b. The split surfaces of the corner die piece 21a are formed across flange portions 31 provided on both circumferential sides of the corner die piece 21a. The split surfaces of the corner die piece 21a are tapered surfaces that incline from the side portion 11b toward the corner portion 11a, from the outer periphery (radially outer side of the rotation axis I) toward the inner periphery (radially inner side of the rotation axis I).

[0019] Both circumferential sides of the side die piece 21b are defined as split surfaces facing the corner die pieces 21a. The split surfaces of the side die piece 21b are formed across flange portions 31 provided on both circumferential sides of the side die piece 21b. The split surfaces of the side die piece 21b are tapered surfaces that incline from the side portion 11b toward the corner portion 11a, from the outer periphery (radially outer side of the rotation axis I) toward the inner periphery (radially inner side of the rotation axis I).

[0020] Here, the inclination angles of the tapered surfaces of the split surfaces of the corner die piece 21a and the split surfaces of the side die piece 21b are the same. That is, the split surfaces of the corner die piece 21a and the split surfaces of the side die piece 21b have complementary shapes. When the plurality of die pieces 21 are split, since the split surfaces are tapered surfaces and the composite material is arranged on the outer peripheral molding surface, the configuration is such that the side die pieces 21b are first removed from the inner side, and then the corner die pieces 21a are removed from the inner side.

[0021] The fastening member 22 couples the plurality of mold segments 21 in a separable manner by fastening the flange portions 31 of the adjacent mold segments 21 to each other. The fastening member 22 is, for example, a pin bolt and a nut. In the first embodiment, the mold segments 21 are coupled using the fastening member 22, but the configuration is not particularly limited thereto as long as the segments can be coupled in a separable manner. For example, the adjacent mold segments 21 may be fixed to each other using a latch fitting such as a clamp, or the adjacent mold segments 21 may be fixed to each other by a structure using vacuum suction (exemplified in the third embodiment).

[0022] The sealing material 23 is accommodated in a seal groove 33 formed on the parting surface where the adjacent mold segments 21 face each other. The sealing material 23 seals between the mold segments 21. The seal groove 33 is formed to extend along the axial direction relative to the parting surface. The seal groove 33 may be formed on both the parting surface of the corner mold segment 21a and the parting surface of the side mold segment 21b, or may be formed on either one of them. The sealing material 23 is, for example, a linear rubber packing having a circular cross section. The sealing material 23 suppresses the inflow of air bubbles to the molding surface by sealing between the mold segments 21.

[0023] The inner bag 24 is disposed inside the molding die 11, and serves as a seal cover that covers the adjacent flange portions 31. The inner bag 24 is fixed to the inside of the molding die 11 via a sealant 26 that functions as a sealing material. The inner breather 25 is disposed in the space sealed by the inner bag 24. The inner breather 25 serves as an air exhaust path during deaeration. The sealant 26 is provided between the molding die 11 and the inner bag 24, and hermetically seals the space covered by the inner bag 24.

[0024] Referring again to Figure 1, the pair of mounting members 12 are members that are attached to both sides of the molding die 11 in the axial direction. The mounting members 12 are formed in a flat plate shape. The mounting members 12 are made of metal material and are fixed to the molding die 11 by bolt fastening, ensuring strength and fastening. The mounting members 12 are fixed to the side mold pieces 21b of the molding die 11, but not to the corner mold pieces 21a. Therefore, the mounting members 12 receive the load from the side mold pieces 21b, and the side mold pieces 21b receive the load from the corner mold pieces 21a. Furthermore, since the mounting members 12 only need to be shaped to be fixable to the side mold pieces 21b of the molding die 11, the shape required for fixing to the corner mold pieces 21a is omitted, resulting in a lighter weight. As an example, the mounting members 12 have a cross-shaped flat plate form. The mounting member 12 is not particularly limited to this shape, and may be any shape as long as it can be fixed to the edge mold piece 21b of the mold 11. In this embodiment, a pair of mounting members 12 are provided on both sides of the mold 11, but this is not particularly limited, and a single member may be provided as long as it can be placed inside the mold 11.

[0025] The pair of shaft portions 13 are attached to both sides of the pair of mounting members 12 in the axial direction. The shaft portions 13 are provided extending outward in the axial direction and are rotatably supported. The bearing portion 14 rotatably supports the pair of shaft portions 13.

[0026] In this molding jig 1, the center of a pair of shafts 13 is the axis of rotation I, and the bearing portion 14 rotatably supports the pair of shafts 13, so that the molding die 11 rotates via a pair of mounting members 12. Since a molding surface is formed on the outer circumference of the molding die 11 in the molding jig 1, the composite material is wrapped around and laminated against the circumferential molding surface.

[0027] (Molding method) Next, with reference to Figure 3, a method for molding a composite material using the molding jig 1 will be described. Figure 3 is an explanatory diagram of the method for molding a composite material according to the first embodiment.

[0028] As shown in Figure 3, in the composite material molding method, first, a mold 11 is prepared by connecting multiple mold pieces 21 (step S11). In step S11, the mold 11 is assembled by connecting the corner mold piece 21a and the side mold piece 21b with fastening members 22 while placing a sealing material 23 between the corner mold piece 21a and the side mold piece 21b. Also in step S11, a pair of mounting members 12 and a pair of shaft parts 13 are attached to the assembled mold 11 and installed in the bearing part 14.

[0029] Next, in the molding method, after step S11 is performed, the mold 11 is rotated around the rotation axis I, and the composite material is wrapped around the molding surface while the composite material is laminated (step S12). After the laminated composite material, in the molding method, a release film 35 is placed on the surface of the laminated composite material. In addition, in the molding method, an outer breather 36 is placed on the surface of the release film 35, and an outer bag 37 is placed on the surface of the outer breather 36. The outer bag 37 airtightly seals the space between it and the mold 11. Furthermore, after the laminated composite material, in the molding method, an inner breather 25 is placed inside the mold 11, and an inner bag 24 is placed via a sealant 26.

[0030] Next, in the molding process, the space inside the inner bag 24 and the space inside the outer bag 37 are evacuated using a vacuum pump 38. Then, in the molding process, the vacuumed composite material is placed in a heating furnace and heated to harden the composite material (step S3).

[0031] Next, in the molding method, the mold 11 is demolded from the hardened composite material (steps S4 and S5). Note that parts other than the composite material 5 and the mold 11 have already been removed. In the molding method, when demolding the mold 11 from the composite material, first, the connection between the corner mold piece 21a and the edge mold piece 21b by the fastening member 22 is released. After this, in the molding method, the edge mold piece 21b is removed (step S4), and then the corner mold piece 21a is removed (step S5), and the series of steps related to the molding method is completed.

[0032] [Second Embodiment] Next, a second embodiment will be described with reference to Figure 4. Figure 4 is a schematic diagram of the connecting structure in a composite material molding jig according to the second embodiment. In the second embodiment, in order to avoid redundant descriptions, the parts that differ from the first embodiment will be described, and parts that have the same configuration as the first embodiment will be denoted by the same reference numerals.

[0033] (Molding jig) The molding jig 41 of the second embodiment has a different structure for connecting the corner mold piece 21a and the edge mold piece 21b compared to the first embodiment. The connecting structure of the corner mold piece 21a and the edge mold piece 21b of the second embodiment is a structure in which the flange portion 31 of the first embodiment is omitted. In addition, the connecting structure of the second embodiment has a stepped shape for the dividing surface. Furthermore, in the connecting structure of the second embodiment, the seal groove 44 is exposed on the inside of the molding die 11. And in the connecting structure of the second embodiment, the corner mold piece 21a and the edge mold piece 21b are fixed to the connecting plate 42 by fastening members 22.

[0034] Specifically, in the molding jig 41 of the second embodiment, two adjacent mold pieces 21 have a rectangular projection at the circumferential end of one mold piece 21 (corner mold piece 21a) on the surface side (radially outward). Similarly, two adjacent mold pieces 21 have a projection at the circumferential end of the other mold piece 21 (edge mold piece 21b) on the back side (radially inward). The circumferential ends of the two adjacent mold pieces 21 have complementary shapes. As a result, the dividing surface of the two mold pieces 21 is a stepped surface where the tip surface of one mold piece 21 and the tip surface of the other mold piece 21 are at different positions in the circumferential direction.

[0035] Furthermore, a seal groove 44 is formed on the back surface of two adjacent mold pieces 21 along the dividing surface. The seal groove 44 is formed exposed from the back surface and extends along the axial direction. The seal groove 44 may be formed on both the corner mold piece 21a and the edge mold piece 21b, or on either one of them.

[0036] The connecting plate 42 is flat and extends across the corner piece 21a and the edge piece 21b, and is positioned to cover the seal groove 44. One end of the connecting plate 42 in the circumferential direction is fixed to the corner piece 21a by a fastening member 43, and the other end in the circumferential direction is fixed to the edge piece 21b by a fastening member 43.

[0037] The sealing material 23 housed in the sealing groove 44 is sandwiched between the corner mold piece 21a, the edge mold piece 21b, and the connecting plate 42, thereby sealing the space between the mold pieces 21.

[0038] [Third Embodiment] Next, the third embodiment will be described with reference to Figure 5. Figure 5 is a schematic diagram of the connecting structure in the composite material molding jig according to the third embodiment. In the third embodiment, in order to avoid redundant descriptions, the parts that differ from the first and second embodiments will be described, and parts that have the same configuration as the first and second embodiments will be denoted by the same reference numerals.

[0039] (Molding jig) The molding jig 51 of the third embodiment has a different structure in which the corner mold piece 21a and the edge mold piece 21b are connected compared to the first embodiment. In the third embodiment, the corner mold piece 21a and the edge mold piece 21b are connected by a connecting cover 52 that covers adjacent flange portions 31 by vacuuming.

[0040] Specifically, in the molding jig 51 of the third embodiment, the connecting cover 52 is U-shaped so as to cover the adjacent flange portion 31, and a sealing material 53 is placed between the connecting cover 52 and the flange portion 31. The sealing material 53 hermetically seals the space partitioned by the connecting cover 52 and the flange portion 31. By evacuating this space, the connecting cover 52 is attracted to the flange portion 31, thereby connecting the flange portions 31 together.

[0041] The connection structure between the corner piece 21a and the edge piece 21b is illustrated in the first to third embodiments, but the invention is not particularly limited to these configurations. The dividing surface between the corner piece 21a and the edge piece 21b is not limited to a flat surface as in the first embodiment, but may be any surface. Furthermore, the connection between the corner piece 21a and the edge piece 21b is not particularly limited to using a fastening member 22 as in the first embodiment, but may also be a structure using vacuum suction as in the third embodiment. In other words, the connection between the corner piece 21a and the edge piece 21b is not particularly limited as long as it is a connectable structure. Also, the presence or absence of a flange portion 31 in the connection structure between the corner piece 21a and the edge piece 21b is optional. Furthermore, the seal grooves 33 and 44 only need to be provided in at least one of the corner piece 21a and the edge piece 21b. Furthermore, the sealing material 23 may be configured to be placed inside the mold 11, as in the first embodiment, or it may be configured to be placed on the back surface (inner circumferential surface) of the mold 11, as in the second embodiment.

[0042] As described above, the molding jig 1 for the composite material 5 and the molding method for the composite material 5 described in the first to third embodiments can be understood, for example, as follows.

[0043] The composite material molding jigs 1, 41, and 51 according to the first embodiment include an axially extending cylindrical mold 11 with a molding surface on its outer circumference where the composite material 5 is laminated, the mold 11 is made of a material with a lower density than Invar, and has a plurality of mold pieces 21 that are arranged in a circumferential direction with respect to the axial direction and are divisibly connected.

[0044] This configuration allows for a reduction in the weight of the mold 11, and when demolding the mold 11 from the composite material, it can be divided into multiple mold pieces 21, making demolding easier.

[0045] In a second embodiment, in the molding jigs 1, 41, and 51 for the composite material 5 according to the first embodiment, the mold 11 is formed of BMI (POLYBISMALEIMIDES) resin.

[0046] This configuration allows for the use of a heat-resistant BMI resin for the mold 11, thereby suppressing burnout of the mold 11 due to heat.

[0047] In a third embodiment, in the molding jigs 1, 41, and 51 for the composite material 5 according to the first or second embodiment, the molding die 11 rotates around a rotation axis I extending in the axial direction, thereby causing the molding surface to circumferentially move. The mold 11 includes a pair of mounting members 12 attached to both sides of the molding die 11 in the axial direction, a pair of shaft portions 13 provided on each of the pair of mounting members 12 and extending outward in the axial direction, and bearing portions 14 that rotatably support each of the pair of shaft portions 13.

[0048] This configuration allows for the composite material to be wrapped around the molded surface and laminated while the molded surface is rotated.

[0049] In a fourth embodiment, in a molding jig 1, 41, 51 for a composite material 5 according to any one of the first to third embodiments, the molding die 11 includes a plurality of corner portions 11a and a plurality of edge portions 11b between adjacent corner portions 11a in a cross section cut by a plane perpendicular to the axial direction, and the plurality of mold pieces 21 include corner portion mold pieces 21a that become mold pieces 21 corresponding to the corner portions 11a and edge portion mold pieces 21b that become mold pieces 21 corresponding to the edge portions 11b.

[0050] With this configuration, multiple mold pieces 21 can be appropriately divided according to the shape of the mold 11. In other words, they can be divided into easy-to-demolish edge mold pieces 21b and difficult-to-demolish corner mold pieces 21a, making it possible to demold starting with the easy-to-demolish edge mold pieces 21b.

[0051] In a fifth embodiment, in the molding jigs 1, 41, and 51 of the composite material 5 according to any one of the first to fourth embodiments, the dividing surface where adjacent corner mold piece 21a and edge mold piece 21b face each other is a tapered surface that slopes from the edge portion 11b to the corner portion 11a from the outer circumference to the inner circumference.

[0052] With this configuration, since the composite material is placed on the outer surface of the molded part, the edge mold piece 21b can be removed from the inside first, and then the corner mold piece 21a can be removed from the inside.

[0053] In a sixth embodiment, the molding jigs 1, 41, 51 for the composite material 5 according to any one of the first to fifth embodiments are provided with a pair of mounting members 12 attached to both sides of the mold 11 in the axial direction, and the pair of mounting members 12 are attached to at least the side mold piece 21b of the mold 11.

[0054] With this configuration, the mounting member 12 can receive the load from the edge mold piece 21b, and the edge mold piece 21b can receive the load from the corner mold piece 21a. Therefore, the mounting member 12 only needs to be shaped to be fixable to the edge mold piece 21b of the mold 11, and by omitting the shape required for fixing to the corner mold piece 21a, it can be made lighter.

[0055] In the seventh aspect, in the molding jigs 1, 41, and 51 for the composite material 5 according to any one of the first to sixth aspects, the composite material 5 laminated on the molding die 11 has a closed cross-section when cut by a plane perpendicular to the axial direction.

[0056] With this configuration, the mold 11 can be easily demolded from the composite material 5, which has a closed cross-section.

[0057] In the eighth aspect, in the molding jigs 1, 41, 51 of the composite material 5 according to any one of the first to seventh aspects, the molding die 11 further comprises a seal groove 33 formed on the dividing surface where adjacent mold pieces 21 face each other, and a seal material 23 housed in the seal groove 33 and sealing the space between the mold pieces 21.

[0058] With this configuration, the gaps between the mold pieces 21 can be sealed by the sealing material 23, thereby suppressing the inflow of air bubbles onto the molded surface.

[0059] In the ninth aspect, in the molding jigs 1, 41, 51 for the composite material 5 according to any one of the first to eighth aspects, the molding die 11 further includes a seal cover (inner bag 24) provided on the inner circumference opposite to the outer circumference, which seals the space between adjacent mold pieces 21.

[0060] With this configuration, the gaps between the mold pieces 21 on the opposite side of the molding surface can be sealed by the seal cover, thereby further suppressing the inflow of air bubbles onto the molding surface.

[0061] In the tenth embodiment, in the molding jigs 1, 41, 51 of the composite material 5 according to any one of the first to ninth embodiments, the molding die 11 further comprises a breather (inner breather 25) disposed in the space sealed by the seal cover.

[0062] With this configuration, the breather can be used as the air degassing path during degassing.

[0063] A molding method for a composite material according to the eleventh embodiment is a molding method using molding jigs 1, 41, and 51 for the composite material 5 described above, comprising the steps of: step S1 preparing a mold 11 in which a plurality of mold pieces 21 are connected; step S2 laminating the uncured composite material 5 onto the molding surface of the mold 11; step S3 curing the composite material; and steps S4 and S5 demolding the mold from the cured composite material, wherein in steps S4 and S5 demolding the mold 11, the connections between the plurality of mold pieces 21 are released, and the mold 11 is divided into a plurality of mold pieces 21.

[0064] With this configuration, when demolding the mold 11 from the composite material, it can be divided into multiple mold pieces 21, making demolding easier. [Explanation of Symbols]
