PRIOR ART DOCUMENTS PATENT DOCUMENTS
[0003] PATENT DOCUMENT 1 Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 2022-192028 SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION PROBLEMS TO BE SOLVED BY THE INVENTION
[0004] In the case of Patent Document 1, in a state where two terminals are arranged side by side on the mounting surface of a circuit board, it is impossible to exclude a situation where the connection portions of the two terminals approach each other beyond a predetermined position in the space above the mounting surface. For this reason, there is a possibility that a proper spatial distance cannot be secured between the connection portions of the two terminals. In response to this, there is a demand for a technology that secures an insulation distance between terminals including the spatial distance and allows a plurality of terminals to be installed in a limited range of the mounting surface.
[0005] Accordingly, an object of the present disclosure is to provide an electronic component and a terminal that can reduce the occupied area of a plurality of terminals on a mounting surface while securing an insulation distance between the terminals. MEANS FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEMS
[0006] The electronic component of this disclosure is an electronic component having terminals installed on a mounting surface, wherein the terminals have a connecting portion that stands upright in a direction away from the mounting surface, a first portion that protrudes along the mounting surface from a base end of the connecting portion closer to the mounting surface, and a second portion that protrudes along the mounting surface from the base end by a smaller amount than the first portion or by zero amount of protrusion from the base end, and at least two of the terminals are arranged adjacent to each other in the direction of protrusion of the first portion, the first portion of one adjacent terminal and the second portion of the other adjacent terminal face each other in the direction of protrusion, and the second portion of one adjacent terminal and the first portion of the other adjacent terminal face each other in the direction of protrusion.
[0007] The terminal of this disclosure is a terminal installed on a mounting surface and comprises: a connecting portion that stands upright in a direction away from the mounting surface; a first portion that protrudes from the base end of the connecting portion closer to the mounting surface so as to be aligned with the mounting surface; and a second portion that protrudes from the base end with a smaller amount of protrusion than the first portion so as to be aligned with the mounting surface, or a portion that protrudes zero from the base end, wherein the first portion and the second portion are arranged in pairs on each side of the protrusion direction with respect to the connecting portion, and the first portion and the second portion that form a pair on one side of the protrusion direction are arranged in a positional relationship that is point-symmetrical with the first portion and the second portion that form a pair on the other side of the protrusion direction in a plan view toward the mounting surface. [Effects of the Invention]
[0008] According to this disclosure, it is possible to provide electronic components and terminals that can reduce the area occupied by multiple terminals on the mounting surface while ensuring an insulating distance between terminals. [Brief explanation of the drawing]

[Figure 5] Figure 5 is a plan view of the terminals in the electronic component according to Embodiment 1. [Modes for carrying out the invention]
[0010] [Description of Embodiments in this Disclosure] First, the embodiments of this disclosure will be listed and described. The electronic components disclosed herein are (1) An electronic component having a terminal installed on a mounting surface, wherein the terminal has a connecting portion that stands upright in a direction away from the mounting surface, a first portion that protrudes from the base end of the connecting portion closer to the mounting surface so as to be along the mounting surface, and a second portion that protrudes from the base end with a smaller amount of protrusion than the first portion so as to be along the mounting surface, or the amount of protrusion is zero, and at least two of the terminals are arranged adjacent to each other in the direction of protrusion of the first portion, the first portion of one adjacent terminal and the second portion of the other adjacent terminal face each other in the direction of protrusion, and the second portion of one adjacent terminal and the first portion of the other adjacent terminal face each other in the direction of protrusion. When two terminals are mounted adjacent to each other on the mounting surface in the direction of the protrusion of the first part, the first and second parts, which have different protrusion amounts, are compactly and efficiently arranged facing each other between adjacent terminals. This allows for minimizing the area occupied by both ends on the mounting surface while ensuring sufficient insulation distance (creepage distance, clearance distance). In particular, the first part with the larger protrusion amount is connected to the mounting surface by soldering or other means, ensuring that the terminal is stably mounted on the mounting surface.
[0011] (2) In the electronic component described in (1) above, the first part and the second part protrude from the base end in the same direction as a pair, the terminal has an intermediate part between the paired first part and the second part, and it is preferable that the amount of the second part protruding from the base end is equal to or greater than the amount of the intermediate part protruding from the base end. According to (2) above, in addition to the first part, the second part and the intermediate part are also connected to the mounting surface by soldering or other means, so that the terminals are more stably installed on the mounting surface. In particular, since the amount of protrusion of the intermediate part is suppressed, the area occupied by both ends on the mounting surface does not increase due to the presence of the intermediate part.
[0012] (3) In the electronic component described in (1) or (2) above, the first part and the second part are arranged in pairs on each of the two sides of the protruding direction with respect to the connecting part, and it is preferable that the first part and the second part that are paired on one side of the protruding direction are arranged in a positional relationship that is point-symmetric with the first part and the second part that are paired on the other side of the protruding direction in a plan view toward the mounting surface. According to the configuration described in (3) above, for example, when two or more terminals are installed side by side on a mounting surface in the direction of protrusion, the first and second parts, which have different amounts of protrusion, will face each other between adjacent terminals, so the area occupied by each terminal on the mounting surface can be significantly reduced. In addition, since the first and second parts, which form a pair via the connecting part, are arranged in a point-symmetrical positional relationship, there is no need to distinguish between the inverted relationship (position and orientation in the direction of protrusion) of the first and second parts that form a pair when assembling the terminals, thus improving the workability of the assembly. Furthermore, by making two or more terminals the same shape, component management is also made easier.
[0013] (4) In the electronic component described in any of (1) to (3) above, it is preferable that the terminal is installed exposed on the mounting surface. According to the configuration described in (4) above, it is possible to avoid increasing the size of electronic components and reduce the number of components compared to the case where the terminals are covered by a housing or the like.
[0014] (5) In the electronic component described in (3) above, the connection portion is preferably in a shape that is folded in a double manner in the protruding direction, and the first and second portions that form the set are arranged in correspondence with each of the two base ends closer to the mounting surface. According to the configuration of (5) above, the connection part has a double-folded shape, which allows it to handle high currents. Since the paired first and second parts are positioned to correspond to each of the two base ends near the mounting surface, the connection part, the first part, and the second part can be easily formed by bending the terminals.
[0015] Furthermore, the terminals of this disclosure are (6) A terminal installed on a mounting surface, comprising: a connecting portion that stands upright in a direction away from the mounting surface; a first portion that protrudes from the base end of the connecting portion closer to the mounting surface so as to be aligned with the mounting surface; and a second portion that protrudes from the base end with a smaller amount of protrusion than the first portion so as to be aligned with the mounting surface, or a second portion that protrudes zero from the base end, wherein the first portion and the second portion are arranged in pairs on each side of the protrusion direction of the first portion, with the connecting portion in between, and the first portion and the second portion that form a pair on one side of the protrusion direction are arranged in a positional relationship that is point-symmetrical with the first portion and the second portion that form a pair on the other side of the protrusion direction in a plan view toward the mounting surface. For example, when installing two or more terminals side by side in the protruding direction, the first and second parts, which have different protruding lengths, will face each other between adjacent terminals, significantly reducing the area occupied by each terminal on the mounting surface. Furthermore, since the first and second parts, which form a pair via the connecting part, are arranged in a point-symmetrical positional relationship, there is no need to distinguish between the inverted relationship (position and orientation in the protruding direction) of the paired first and second parts when assembling the terminals, improving the workability of the assembly. In addition, by making two or more terminals the same shape, the number of parts does not increase, and parts management becomes easier.
[0016] (7) In the terminal described in (6) above, it is preferable that an intermediate portion is provided between the first portion and the second portion forming the set, and the amount of protrusion of the second portion from the base end is equal to or greater than the amount of protrusion of the intermediate portion from the base end. The first part, the second part, and the intermediate part are all connected to the mounting surface by soldering or the like, whereby the terminal is more stably installed on the mounting surface. In particular, since the protrusion amount of the intermediate part is suppressed, the occupation area of both terminals on the mounting surface does not increase due to the presence of the intermediate part.
[0017] (8) In the terminal described in the above (6) or (7), it is preferable that the connection portion has a shape doubly folded in the protruding direction, and the paired first part and second part are arranged at positions corresponding to the respective base end portions on the side close to the mounting surface. Since the connection portion has a doubly folded shape, it can cope with large current. Since the paired first part and second part are arranged at positions corresponding to the respective base end portions on the side close to the mounting surface, the connection portion, the first part and the second part can be easily formed by bending the terminal.
[0018] [Details of the Embodiments of the Present Disclosure] Specific examples of the present disclosure will be described below with reference to the drawings. The present invention is not limited to this illustration, is indicated by the scope of the claims, and is intended to include all modifications within the meaning and scope equivalent to the scope of the claims.
[0019] <Embodiment 1> Embodiment 1 of the present disclosure exemplifies an electronic component 10 arranged on one circuit board 80 of mutually opposing circuit boards 80 and 90, as shown in Figure 1. The electronic component 10 includes a plurality of terminals 20 installed on the mounting surface 81 of the circuit board 80. Here, two terminals 20 are installed side by side on the mounting surface 81. Both terminals 20 are connected to a mating terminal 70 connected to the other circuit board 90. Note that the reference signs X, Y and Z in Figure 1, Figure 2 and Figure 5 represent the front-rear direction, the left-right direction and the up-down direction respectively. The up-down direction is the direction in which both circuit boards 80 and 90 face each other. The left-right direction is the direction in which the two terminals 20 face each other. For convenience, the upper side of Figure 1 is defined as the upper direction, the right side of Figure 1 is defined as the right direction, and the direction toward the front of the page of Figure 1 is defined as the front direction.
[0020] Both terminals 20 are made of conductive metal plates and, as shown in Figure 2, are made of the same shape and size. The terminals 20 are formed by bending a strip-shaped plate that extends in the left-right direction in its unfolded form. As shown in Figure 3, the terminal 20 has a connecting portion 21 that stands upright in the vertical direction and a mounting portion 22 that extends from the connecting portion 21 in both the left-right and right directions. The connecting portion 21 has a rectangular shape in side view and is positioned with its plate surface facing left-right. The mounting portion 22 has a concave shape (U-shape in plan view) in plan view and is positioned with its plate surface facing up-down. As shown in Figure 4, the terminal 20, with the connecting portion 21 and the mounting portion 22, forms an inverted T shape in front view as a whole.
[0021] The connecting portion 21 is constructed by folding a plate material in half. The tip portion 23 of the connecting portion 21 is a folded portion and is positioned to protrude upward. The tip portion 23 is connected in a semi-circular arc from one folded portion to the other. As shown in Figures 3 and 5, upward-sloping chamfered surfaces 24 are provided at both ends in the front-rear direction of the outer circumferential surface of the tip portion 23 of the connecting portion 21. The connecting portion 21 is inserted into the box portion 71 of the mating terminal 70 and connected, guided by the tip portion 23 including the chamfered surfaces 24.
[0022] As shown in Figure 3, the base ends 25 of the connection portion 21 are the lower ends on the left and right of the overlapping double plates. The connection portion 21 is bent outward to the left and right at positions near the lower ends on the left and right of the double plates. Therefore, as shown in Figure 4, the right base end 25 is positioned to the right, and the left base end 25 is positioned to the left. With the terminal 20 installed on the circuit board 80, both base ends 25 are positioned close to the mounting surface 81.
[0023] The mounting sections 22 are connected to each of the two base ends 25 and are arranged in pairs on both the left and right sides, flanking the connection section 21. With the terminals 20 installed on the circuit board 80, the left and right mounting sections 22 are positioned along the mounting surface 81 of the circuit board 80. The lower surfaces of the left and right mounting sections 22 are electrically and mechanically connected to the mounting surface 81 of the circuit board 80 by soldering or other means (see Figure 1).
[0024] As shown in Figure 5, the left and right mounting sections 22 each have a first section 26, a second section 27, and an intermediate section 28. The first section 26, the second section 27, and the intermediate section 28 are formed continuously and aligned with each other in the front-to-back direction. Here, the first section 26, the second section 27, and the intermediate section 28 are formed along the entire length of the base end 25 in the front-to-back direction. The first section 26, the second section 27, and the intermediate section 28 are all strip-shaped and, as will be described later, protrude horizontally from the base end 25 with different protrusion amounts. The leading edge (protruding tip) of each of the first section 26, the second section 27, and the intermediate section 28 is aligned in the front-to-back direction. The front-to-back width dimension of the first section 26 and the second section 27 is larger than the front-to-back width dimension of the intermediate section 28.
[0025] Of the two mounting parts 22 that form a pair on both the left and right sides of the connecting part 21, the right mounting part 22 has a first part 26, a second part 27, and an intermediate part 28 that protrude to the right from the right base end 25. One set RG is formed by these right-side first part 26, second part 27, and intermediate part 28. In one set RG, the first part 26 protrudes to the right from the rear end of the base end 25, the second part 27 protrudes to the right from the front end of the base end 25, and the intermediate part 28 protrudes to the right from the center of the base end 25 in the front-rear direction. The rear end of the intermediate part 28 is connected to the front end of the first part 26, and the front end of the intermediate part 28 is connected to the rear end of the second part 27.
[0026] In one assembly RG, the protruding tip of the first part 26 is located to the right of the protruding tips of the second part 27 and the intermediate part 28. The protruding tip of the second part 27 is located to the left of the protruding tip of the first part 26 and to the right of the protruding tip of the intermediate part 28. The protruding tip of the intermediate part 28 is located to the left of the protruding tips of the second part 27 and the intermediate part 28. In short, the amount of protrusion to the right from the base end 25 increases in the order of intermediate part 28, second part 27, and first part 26. The mounting part 22 is defined as a recess 29 that opens to the right with the intermediate part 28 as the back surface. In this embodiment 1, the amount of protrusion of the first part 26 is set to more than half of the height dimension (vertical dimension) of the connecting part 21, and the amount of protrusion of the second part 27 is set to less than half of the height dimension of the connecting part 21. The amount of protrusion of part 1 26 is greater than twice the amount of protrusion of the intermediate part 28, and less than twice the amount of protrusion of part 2 27.
[0027] Of the two mounting parts 22 that form a pair on both the left and right sides of the connecting part 21, the left mounting part 22 has a first part 26, a second part 27, and an intermediate part 28 that protrude to the left from the left base end 25. These left first part 26, second part 27, and intermediate part 28 constitute the other set LG. In the other set LG, the first part 26 protrudes to the left from the rear end of the base end 25, the second part 27 protrudes to the left from the front end of the base end 25, and the intermediate part 28 protrudes to the left from the center of the base end 25 in the front-rear direction. The front end of the intermediate part 28 is connected to the rear end of the first part 26, and the rear end of the intermediate part 28 is connected to the front end of the second part 27.
[0028] In the other assembly LG, the protruding tip of the first part 26 is located to the left of the respective protruding tips of the second part 27 and the intermediate part 28. The protruding tip of the second part 27 is located to the right of the protruding tip of the first part 26 and to the left of the protruding tip of the intermediate part 28. The protruding tip of the intermediate part 28 is located to the right of the respective protruding tips of the second part 27 and the intermediate part 28. In short, the amount of protrusion to the left from the base end 25 increases in the order of intermediate part 28, second part 27, and first part 26. The mounting part 22 is defined as a recess 29 that opens to the left with the intermediate part 28 as the back surface. In this embodiment 1, the amount of protrusion of the first part 26 is set to more than half of the height dimension (vertical dimension) of the connecting part 21, and the amount of protrusion of the second part 27 is set to less than half of the height dimension of the connecting part 21. The amount of protrusion of the first part 26 is greater than twice the amount of protrusion of the intermediate part 28 and less than twice the amount of protrusion of the second part 27. The protrusion amounts of the first part 26 of each pair RG and LG (right and left) are the same. The protrusion amounts of the second part 27 of each pair RG and LG are the same. The protrusion amounts of the intermediate part 28 of each pair RG and LG are the same.
[0029] The line segment L1 connecting the center of the rightmost first section 26 and the center of the leftmost first section 26, and the line segment L2 connecting the center of the rightmost second section 27 and the center of the leftmost second section 27, form an X shape that intersects at the center C1 of the connection section 21. The rightmost intermediate section 28 and the leftmost intermediate section 28 are positioned in a symmetrical relationship with respect to the connection section 21 in a plan view of the terminal 20.
[0030] The first part 26, second part 27, and intermediate part 28 that constitute one set RG are arranged in a point-symmetrical positional relationship with the first part 26, second part 27, and intermediate part 28 that constitute the other set LG, with respect to the center C1 of the connecting part 21, in a plan view of the terminal 20. In other words, the right first part 26 and the left first part 26 are inverted positions relative to each other, and the right second part 27 and the left second part 27 are inverted positions relative to each other. Overall, the terminal 20 has a point-symmetrical shape with respect to the center C1 of the connecting part 21 in a plan view.
[0031] Next, the mounting structure of the electronic component 10 in this embodiment 1 will be described. As shown in Figure 2, two terminals 20 are installed on the mounting surface 81 of the circuit board 80 with a gap between them in the left-right direction. The connection portion 21 of both terminals 20 is positioned above the mounting surface 81 with their respective board surfaces facing each other in the left-right direction. The left and right mounting portions 22 of both terminals 20 are positioned along the mounting surface 81 of the circuit board 80. The first portion 26, the second portion 27, and the intermediate portion 28 that constitute the mounting portion 22 are connected and fixed to the mounting surface 81 by soldering. In this embodiment 1, a recess 29 is formed in the mounting portion 22, so a long distance can be secured for soldering to the mounting portion 22. Furthermore, even if the terminals 20 are installed with the left-right inversion from the configuration in Figure 2 relative to the mounting surface 81, the configuration will be the same as in Figure 2, so assembly work can be performed without being aware of the left-right orientation of the terminals 20.
[0032] Between the two terminals 20, the mounting portion 22 of one set RG on the left terminal 20 and the mounting portion 22 of the other set LG on the right terminal 20 are arranged. Specifically, between the rear ends of the two terminals 20, the first part 26 of one set RG on the left terminal 20 and the second part 27 of the other set LG on the right terminal 20 are arranged facing each other in the left-right direction. A predetermined creepage distance CD1 is secured between the right end of the first part 26 of one set RG and the left end of the second part 27 of the other set LG. Also, between the front ends of the two terminals 20, the second part 27 of one set RG on the left terminal 20 and the first part 26 of the other set LG on the right terminal 20 are arranged facing each other in the left-right direction. A predetermined creepage distance CD2 is secured between the right end of the second part 27 of one set RG and the left end of the first part 26 of the other set LG. Furthermore, a predetermined creepage distance CD3 is secured between the right end of the first part 26 of one set RG and the left end of the first part 26 of the other set LG, and a predetermined creepage distance CD4 is secured between the right end of the second part 27 of one set RG and the left end of the second part 27 of the other set LG. Therefore, the two terminals 20 are installed within a predetermined range on the mounting surface 81 of the circuit board 80 while properly securing mutual creepage distances CD1-4.
[0033] As described above, the electronic component 10 of this embodiment 1 is equipped with a terminal 20 that is installed on the mounting surface 81. The terminal 20 has a connecting portion 21 that stands upright away from the mounting surface 81, a first portion 26 that protrudes from a base end 25 of the connecting portion 21 closer to the mounting surface 81 so as to follow the mounting surface 81, and a second portion 27 that protrudes from the base end 25 with a smaller protrusion amount than the first portion 26 so as to follow the mounting surface 81. Two terminals 20 are arranged adjacent to each other in the protrusion direction (left-right direction) of the first portion 26. The first portion 26 of one adjacent terminal 20 and the second portion 27 of the other terminal 20 face each other in the protrusion direction, and the second portion 27 of one adjacent terminal 20 and the first portion 26 of the other terminal 20 face each other in the protrusion direction. As a result, the first portion 26 and the second portion 27, which have different protrusion amounts, are arranged compactly and efficiently between adjacent terminals 20, facing each other. Therefore, the area occupied by both terminals 20 on the mounting surface 81 can be kept small while ensuring sufficient insulation distance. In particular, the terminals 20 are stably installed on the mounting surface 81 by soldering or other means to the mounting surface 81 by the large protruding first part 26.
[0034] The first part 26 and the second part 27 protrude from the base end 25 in the same direction (left or right) as a pair RG and LG. The terminal 20 has an intermediate part 28 connected to the first part 26 and the second part 27, which form the pair RG and LG. The amount of protrusion of the second part 27 from the base end 25 is greater than or equal to the amount of protrusion of the intermediate part 28 from the base end 25. The terminal 20 is stably installed on the mounting surface 81 by soldering or other means to the first part 26, the second part 27, and the intermediate part 28. In particular, since the amount of protrusion of the intermediate part 28 is suppressed, the area occupied by both terminals 20 on the mounting surface 81 does not increase due to the presence of the intermediate part 28.
[0035] The first part 26 and the second part 27 are arranged in pairs RG and LG on each side of the protruding direction (left-right direction) of the first part 26, with the connecting part 21 in between. The first part 26 and the second part 27 forming pair RG on one side are positioned in a point-symmetrical relationship with the first part 26 and the second part 27 forming pair LG on the other side in a plan view toward the mounting surface 81.
[0036] When two terminals 20 are installed side by side on the mounting surface 81 in a protruding direction, the first part 26 and the second part 27, which have different protruding amounts, face each other between adjacent terminals 20, so the area occupied by each terminal 20 on the mounting surface 81 can be significantly reduced. Furthermore, since the first part 26 and the second part 27, which form the pair RG and LG via the connecting part 21, are arranged in a point-symmetrical positional relationship, there is no need to be aware of the inversion relationship (direction of inversion) of the first part 26 and the second part 27 that form the pair RG and LG, improving the workability of assembly. Moreover, in this embodiment 1, since the two terminals 20 have the same shape, the number of parts does not increase, and parts management becomes easier.
[0037] Furthermore, since the terminals 20 are exposed on the mounting surface 81, the electronic component 10 is less likely to become larger compared to the case where the terminals 20 are covered by a housing or the like, and the number of components can be further reduced.
[0038] Furthermore, in this embodiment 1, the connection portion 21 has a shape in which the first portion 26 is double-folded in the protruding direction, and the first portion 26 and the second portion 27, which form a pair RG and LG, are arranged corresponding to each of the two base ends 25 closer to the mounting surface 81. With the connection portion 21 having such a double-folded shape, it can handle high currents. Also, since the first portion 26 and the second portion 27, which form a pair RG and LG, are arranged corresponding to each of the two base ends 25 closer to the mounting surface 81, the connection portion 21, the first portion 26 and the second portion 27 can be easily formed by bending the terminal 20, resulting in excellent processability.
[0039] [Other embodiments of this disclosure] Embodiment 1 disclosed herein should be considered in all respects to be illustrative and not restrictive. In the first embodiment described above, the amount of protrusion of the second part was greater than the amount of protrusion of the intermediate part. In contrast, according to other embodiments, the amount of protrusion of the second part may be the same as the amount of protrusion of the intermediate part. The protruding tip of the second part and the protruding tip of the intermediate part may be arranged to be aligned at the same position in the left-right direction (protrusion direction). In the first embodiment described above, the intermediate section was configured to connect the first and second sections. In contrast, according to other embodiments, the intermediate section may be positioned between the first and second sections, but separated from both. In some cases, the intermediate section may be omitted. In the above embodiment 1, the second part protruded from the base end of the connection part along the mounting surface. In contrast, the second part may have a shape that does not protrude from the base end of the connection part. In other words, the amount of protrusion of the second part from the base end may be zero. In this case, the second part may be formed by the end face of the corresponding base end. In the first embodiment described above, two terminals were arranged side by side on the mounting surface in the direction of protrusion of the first part. In contrast, according to another embodiment, three terminals may be arranged side by side on the mounting surface in the direction of protrusion of the first part. In this case as well, among the three or more terminals arranged side by side, the first part of one adjacent terminal and the second part of the other terminal face each other in the direction of protrusion, and the second part of one adjacent terminal and the first part of the other terminal face each other in the direction of protrusion, thereby reducing the area occupied by each terminal on the mounting surface.
