Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a vibration damping structure, and more specifically, to a vibration damping structure with a high degree of design freedom that can more effectively absorb energy transmitted from a structure to be reinforced by an earthquake.

Background Art

[0002] As vibration damping reinforcement for structures to be reinforced against earthquakes, various vibration damping structures such as braces extending between two connection target portions of the structure to be reinforced have been proposed (for example, see Patent Document 1). The buckling-restrained brace described in Patent Document 1 includes a single shaft member having a length substantially equal to the separation distance between two connection target portions of the structure to be reinforced, a steel pipe through which the shaft member is inserted, and a filler filled in the gap between the steel pipe and the shaft member. The structure is configured such that one end portion of the shaft member is connected to one connection target portion of the structure to be reinforced, and the other end portion of the shaft member is connected to the other connection target portion of the structure to be reinforced.

[0003] In this buckling-restrained brace, the length of the deformable member that absorbs the energy transmitted from the structure to be reinforced by an earthquake is the length of the shaft member extending between the two connection target portions. In the structure of this buckling-restrained brace, it is not possible to secure a length of the deformable member that absorbs the energy transmitted from the structure to be reinforced longer than the separation distance between the two connection target portions, so the degree of design freedom is relatively low.

Summary of the Invention

Problems to be Solved by the Invention

[0005] The objective of the present invention is to provide a vibration-damping structure with a high degree of design flexibility that can more effectively absorb energy transmitted from a reinforced structure due to an earthquake. [Means for solving the problem]

[0006] To achieve the above objective, the vibration damping structure of the present invention is a vibration damping structure having a damper portion and extending between one connection target portion and the other connection target portion of a reinforcement target structure, wherein the damper portion has an outer tube portion formed in a cylindrical shape extending in the longitudinal direction of the vibration damping structure, a core plate extending in the longitudinal direction with one end indirectly connected to the one connection target portion and at least the other end disposed inside the tube of the outer tube portion, and a pair of laminates extending in the longitudinal direction and disposed inside the tube of the outer tube portion, wherein the pair of laminates has a pair of first intermediate plates disposed between the core plate in the thickness direction, a pair of second intermediate plates disposed between the pair of first intermediate plates in the thickness direction, and a pair of third intermediate plates disposed between the pair of second intermediate plates in the thickness direction, wherein the pair of third intermediate plates are sandwiched between a pair of outer plates constituting the outer tube portion, and the other end of the core plate and The other end of a pair of first intermediate plates is directly or indirectly joined to the other end of the second intermediate plate, one end of the first intermediate plate adjacent in the thickness direction is directly or indirectly joined to the other end of the second intermediate plate, the side of one end of the pair of first intermediate plates is joined to the side of one end of the pair of second intermediate plates via a first band plate extending in the thickness direction, the other end of the second intermediate plate adjacent in the thickness direction is directly or indirectly joined to the other end of the third intermediate plate, the side of the other end of the pair of second intermediate plates is joined to the side of the other end of the pair of third intermediate plates via a second band plate extending in the thickness direction, one end of the third intermediate plate adjacent in the thickness direction is directly or indirectly joined to the other end of the outer plate, and the other end of the outer tube is indirectly connected to the other connecting target.

[0007] The method for manufacturing the vibration damping structure of the present invention is a method for manufacturing the vibration damping structure described above, wherein the core plate is sandwiched between the pair of first intermediate plates, and the other end of the core plate is directly or indirectly joined to the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates; the pair of first intermediate plates is sandwiched between the pair of second intermediate plates, and one end of the first intermediate plate adjacent to the second intermediate plate in the thickness direction is directly or indirectly joined, respectively; the side portion of one end of the pair of first intermediate plates is joined to the side portion of one end of the pair of second intermediate plates via the first band plate extending in the thickness direction; the pair of second intermediate plates is sandwiched between the pair of third intermediate plates, and the other end of the second intermediate plate adjacent to the third intermediate plate in the thickness direction is joined to the third intermediate plate The damper portion is formed by directly or indirectly joining the other end of each of the two second intermediate plates and the other end of each of the two third intermediate plates via a second band plate extending in the thickness direction, with the two third intermediate plates sandwiched between the two outer plates, and directly or indirectly joining one end of each of the two adjacent third intermediate plates in the thickness direction to one end of each outer plate, and arranging a pair of side plates constituting the outer tube portion on both the outer sides in the width direction of the core plate and the two laminates, and joining adjacent outer plates and side plates to form the outer tube portion. [Effects of the Invention]

[0008] In the vibration damping structure of the present invention, the core plate constituting the damper section, a pair of first intermediate plates, a pair of second intermediate plates, a pair of third intermediate plates, and a pair of outer plates are connected in a bellows-like manner that reciprocates (folds multiple times) in the longitudinal direction. This makes it possible to make the deformable member length of the vibration damping structure, which absorbs energy transmitted from the reinforced structure to the vibration damping structure due to an earthquake, longer than the distance between the two connection points of the reinforced structure to which the vibration damping structure is connected. Therefore, designers can design the deformable member length and the rigidity of the vibration damping structure more freely according to the vibration damping performance required of the vibration damping structure. Furthermore, the side portions of one end of the pair of first intermediate plates and the side portions of one end of the pair of second intermediate plates are joined via a first band plate extending in the thickness direction, and the side portions of the other end of the pair of second intermediate plates and the side portions of the other end of the pair of third intermediate plates are joined via a second band plate extending in the thickness direction. As a result, the stress transmitted from the reinforced structure to the core plate and outer tube section (a pair of outer plates) due to an earthquake can be evenly distributed to the pair of first intermediate plates, the pair of second intermediate plates, and the pair of third intermediate plates via the first band plate and the second band plate, making it less likely for stress to concentrate on some of the plates that make up the damper section. Therefore, the vibration control structure of the present invention can absorb the energy transmitted from the reinforced structure due to an earthquake more effectively.

[0009] In the method for manufacturing a vibration-damping structure of the present invention, the joining of the core plate, a pair of first intermediate plates, a pair of second intermediate plates, a pair of third intermediate plates, and a pair of outer plates constituting the damper section is performed in stages from the inside to the outside. Furthermore, the outer tube section constituting the damper section is formed by joining a pair of outer plates and a pair of side plates, which makes it easier to join the respective members constituting the damper section together, and thus the vibration-damping structure can be manufactured simply and efficiently. [Mode for Carrying Out the Invention]

[0011] Hereinafter, the vibration damping structure and the manufacturing method thereof of the present invention will be described based on the embodiments shown in the drawings.

[0012] The vibration damping structure 1 of the present invention illustrated in FIG. 1 improves the vibration damping performance of a structure to be reinforced 30 that is the target of vibration damping reinforcement, and is extended between two connection target portions 33a and 33b of the structure to be reinforced 30. FIG. 1 illustrates a case where the vibration damping structure 1 is applied to the structure to be reinforced 30 configured by a pair of columns 31 and a pair of beams 32.

[0013] In this embodiment, two connection target portions 33a and 33b are disposed at corner portions at opposing positions in a rectangular space surrounded by the pair of columns 31 and the pair of beams 32. Each of the connection target portions 33a and 3b is configured by, for example, a gusset plate or the like. The vibration damping structure 1 has one end portion connected to one connection target portion 33a and the other end portion connected to the other connection target portion 33b, so as to be extended between the one connection target portion 33a and the other connection target portion 33b.

[0014] In the following explanation, the end of the vibration-damping structure 1 connected to the connection target section 33a on the upper left side of Figure 1 will be referred to as one end, and the end of the vibration-damping structure 1 connected to the connection target section 33b on the lower right side of Figure 1 will be referred to as the other end. During an earthquake, the stress acting on the reinforced structure 30 (columns 31 and beams 32) is transmitted from the pair of connection target sections 33a and 33b to the vibration-damping structure 1, and the load on the reinforced structure 30 is reduced by absorbing that stress with the vibration-damping structure 1.

[0015] Figure 2 illustrates a plan view of the vibration damping structure 1 when it is not attached to the reinforcement target structure 30. In the drawings (Figures 2 to 19), the X direction indicates the longitudinal direction of the vibration damping structure 1 (hereinafter, longitudinal direction X), the Y direction indicates the width direction of the vibration damping structure 1 (hereinafter, width direction Y), and the Z direction indicates the thickness direction of the vibration damping structure 1 (hereinafter, thickness direction Z). In Figures 2 to 7 and Figures 13 to 19, the upper side of the paper is one side of the longitudinal direction X, and the lower side of the paper is the other side of the longitudinal direction X.

[0016] In the drawings, welded areas are indicated by finely spaced diagonal lines (which may appear as solid black when the drawing is reduced in size). Note that not all welded areas are shown in the drawings; only relatively important welded areas in the vibration damping structure 1 are indicated. That is, it is also possible to construct the structure by joining parts not shown in diagonal lines through welding. In the cross-sectional view, the cross-sectional areas are indicated by coarsely spaced diagonal lines. Figures 13 to 19 illustrate the manufacturing process of the vibration damping structure 1.

[0017] As illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, the vibration damping structure 1 has a damper section 4 and extends between one connection target section 33a and the other connection target section 33b of the reinforcement target structure 30. The damper section 4 has an outer tube section 6 formed in a cylindrical shape extending in the longitudinal direction X, a core plate 7 extending in the longitudinal direction X with one end indirectly connected to the connection target section 33a on one side, and at least the other side disposed inside the tube of the outer tube section 6, and a pair of laminated bodies 8 extending in the longitudinal direction X and disposed inside the tube of the outer tube section 6. More specifically, the vibration damping structure 1 of this embodiment includes one connection section 2, a damper section 4 connected to the other side of the one connection section 2, a support member 5 extending in the longitudinal direction X connected to the other side of the damper section 4, and the other connection section 3 connected to the other side of the support member 5. The one connection section 2 is connected to one connection target section 33a. The other connecting portion 3 is connected to the other connecting target portion 33b. The connecting portion 2 on one side and the connecting portion 3 on the other side are each made of metal such as steel.

[0018] The shapes and structures of the connecting portion 2 on one side and the connecting portion 3 on the other side, the shapes and structures of the connecting target portion 33a on one side and the connecting target portion 33b on the other side, the connection structure between the connecting portion 2 on one side and the connecting target portion 33a on the other side, and the connection structure between the connecting portion 3 on the other side and the connecting target portion 33b on the other side are not particularly limited, and various configurations other than those exemplified in this embodiment can be used.

[0019] Figure 3 shows the internal structure of the damper section 4, with one side plate 6b, which constitutes the outer tube section 6 of the damper section 4, removed. Figures 4 to 12, which show a cross-sectional view of Figure 3, illustrate the state with the one side plate 6b that was removed in Figure 3.

[0020] As illustrated in Figures 2 and 3, the damper section 4 includes an outer tube section 6 formed in a cylindrical shape extending in the longitudinal direction X, a core plate 7 extending in the longitudinal direction X with at least one other side positioned inside the tube of the outer tube section 6, and a pair of laminated bodies 8 extending in the longitudinal direction X and positioned inside the tube of the outer tube section 6. One end of the core plate 7 is connected to one side of the connecting section 2. One end of the core plate 7 protrudes to one side of the damper section 4. The length in the longitudinal direction X of the insertion portion of the core plate 7 positioned inside the tube of the outer tube section 6 is set to, for example, 75% to 100% of the length in the longitudinal direction X of the outer tube section 6.

[0021] The core plate 7 extends in the longitudinal direction X and the width direction Y. In this embodiment, a neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a is provided at the connection portion between one end of the core plate 7 and the connecting portion 2 on the other side, to suppress neck bending of the core plate 7. The neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a extends in the longitudinal direction X and the thickness direction Z. Neck-bending reinforcing plates 2a are joined to both sides of the thickness direction Z of one end of the core plate 7.

[0022] As illustrated in Figure 3, the pair of laminates 8 are composed of a pair of first intermediate plates 9 arranged to sandwich the core plate 7 in the thickness direction Z, a pair of second intermediate plates 10 arranged to sandwich the pair of first intermediate plates 9 in the thickness direction Z, and a pair of third intermediate plates 11 arranged to sandwich the pair of second intermediate plates 10 in the thickness direction Z. The pair of third intermediate plates 11 are sandwiched between a pair of outer plates 6a that constitute the outer tube portion 6. The core plate 7, the first intermediate plates 9, the second intermediate plates 10, the third intermediate plates 11, and the outer plates 6a each extend in the longitudinal direction X and the width direction Y, and are arranged in the same planar direction.

[0023] The vibration damping structure 1 further includes a first band plate 12 and a second band plate 13 that constitute the damper section 4. The vibration damping structure 1 of this embodiment further includes a first end plate 14, a second end plate 15, a third end plate 16, a ring-shaped end plate 17, a connecting plate 18, a rib spacer 19, and a stopper 20 that constitute the damper section 4.

[0024] The dimensions of the damper section 4 (outer tube section 6) in the longitudinal direction X, width direction Y, and thickness direction Z can be appropriately determined according to the size and structure of the reinforced structure 30, the energy absorption performance required of the vibration control structure 1, and so on. The longitudinal dimension X of the damper section 4 is set to a length of, for example, 10% to 70% of the distance between the two connecting sections 33a and 33b. The outer dimensions in the width direction Y and thickness direction Z of the damper section 4 are set to, for example, 100 mm to 700 mm.

[0025] The neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a, core plate 7, first intermediate plate material 9, second intermediate plate 10, third intermediate plate 11, and the outer plate 6a and side plate 6b that constitute the outer tube section 6 are each plate-shaped members made of metal such as steel, for example, steel plates. The first band plate 12, second band plate 13, first end plate 14, second end plate 15, third end plate 16, ring-shaped end plate 17, connecting plate 18, rib spacer 19, and stopper 20, which will be described in detail later, are also plate-shaped members made of metal such as steel, for example, steel plates. The dimensions of each member constituting the vibration damping structure 1 described above, such as the longitudinal direction X, the width direction Y, and the thickness direction Z, can be appropriately determined according to the size and structure of the reinforced structure 30, the energy absorption performance required of the vibration damping structure 1, etc.

[0026] In this embodiment, the core plate 7 is set to a constant width dimension from end to end in the longitudinal direction X. The width dimension of the core plate 7 is set to, for example, 50 mm or more and 500 mm or less. In this embodiment, the thickness dimension of the core plate 7 is set to be thicker than the thickness dimensions of the first to third intermediate plates 9, 10, and 11. The thickness dimensions of the first to third intermediate plates 9, 10, and 11 are set to the same dimension. The thickness dimension of the core plate 7 is set to, for example, 6 mm or more and 120 mm or less. The thickness dimensions of the first to third intermediate plates 9, 10, and 11 are set to, for example, 6 mm or more and 60 mm or less.

[0027] As illustrated in Figure 5, each first intermediate plate 9 has a narrow section 9n in the central part of its longitudinal direction X, which is narrower than one end and the other end of the first intermediate plate 9. In the following description, the one end and the other end of the first intermediate plate 9 will be referred to as the wide section 9w. The boundary between the wide section 9w and the narrow section 9n of the first intermediate plate 9 is processed into a smooth curve, creating a structure that makes it difficult for stress to concentrate at the boundary between the wide section 9w and the narrow section 9n.

[0028] The width dimension of the narrow portion 9n of the first intermediate plate 9 is set to a range of, for example, 0.2 to 0.9 times, more preferably 0.2 to 0.8 times, and even more preferably 0.2 to 0.7 times, of the width dimension of the wide portion 9w of the first intermediate plate 9. The width dimension of the wide portion 9w of the first intermediate plate 9 is set to, for example, about 100 mm to 500 mm, and the width dimension of the narrow portion 9n of the first intermediate plate 9 is set to, for example, about 50 mm to 450 mm.

[0029] As illustrated in Figure 6, similar to the first intermediate plate 9, each second intermediate plate 10 has a narrow section 10n in the central part of its longitudinal direction X that is narrower than one end and the other end of the second intermediate plate 10. As illustrated in Figure 7, similar to the first intermediate plate 9, each third intermediate plate 11 has a narrow section 11n in the central part of its longitudinal direction X that is narrower than one end and the other end of the third intermediate plate 11. In the following description, one end and the other end of the second intermediate plate 10 will be referred to as the wide section 10w, and one end and the other end of the third intermediate plate 11 will be referred to as the wide section 11w.

[0030] The shape of the second intermediate plate 10 and the preferred dimensional conditions of the wide portion 10w and narrow portion 10n are the same as those of the first intermediate plate 9 described above. The shape of the third intermediate plate 11 and the preferred dimensional conditions of the wide portion 11w and narrow portion 11n are also the same as those of the first intermediate plate 9 described above. In this embodiment, the width dimensions of the narrow portions 9n, 10n, and 11n of the first to third intermediate plates 9, 10, and 11 are set to the same dimensions. The width dimensions of the narrow portions 9n, 10n, and 11n of the first to third intermediate plates 9, 10, and 11 are set to be narrower than the width dimension of the core plate 7.

[0031] As illustrated in Figures 3 to 5 and Figure 13, the other end of the core plate 7 and the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 are joined directly or indirectly. In this embodiment, the other end of the core plate 7 and the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 are positioned approximately at the same location in the longitudinal direction X, and a first end plate 14 is provided on the other side of the other end of the core plate 7 and the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9. The first end plate 14 is positioned to extend in the width direction Y and the thickness direction Z. The other end of the core plate 7 and the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 are joined to the first end plate 14 by welding.

[0032] More specifically, grooves are formed at the other end of the core plate 7 and the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9, and these grooves are welded together to join the other end of the core plate 7, the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9, and the first end plate 14. For example, by joining the other end of the core plate 7 and the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 separately to the first end plate 14, a configuration can be achieved in which the other end of the core plate 7 and the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 are indirectly joined via the first end plate 14.

[0033] Providing the first end plate 14 is advantageous in improving the stability of the joint and stress transmission between the other end of the core plate 7 and the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9, 9. However, the first end plate 14 can be provided as needed. For example, the other end of the core plate 7 and the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 can be directly joined by welding or other means without providing the first end plate 14.

[0034] As illustrated in Figures 3, 5, 6, and 14, one end of a first intermediate plate 9 and one end of a second intermediate plate 10 adjacent to each other in the thickness direction Z are joined directly or indirectly. In this embodiment, one end of a pair of first intermediate plates 9 and one end of a pair of second intermediate plates 10 are positioned approximately at the same location in the longitudinal direction X, and a second end plate 15 is provided on one side of the adjacent one end of the first intermediate plate 9 and one end of the second intermediate plate 10. The second end plate 15 is positioned to extend in the width direction Y and the thickness direction Z. One end of a first intermediate plate 9 and one end of a second intermediate plate 10 adjacent to each other in the thickness direction Z are joined to the second end plate 15 by welding.

[0035] More specifically, grooves are formed at one end of the first intermediate plate 9 and one end of the second intermediate plate 10, and these grooves are welded together to join the adjacent ends of the first intermediate plate 9 and the second intermediate plate 10 to the second end plate 15. For example, by joining one end of the first intermediate plate 9 and one end of the second intermediate plate 10 to the second end plate 15 separately, a configuration can be achieved in which one end of the first intermediate plate 9 and one end of the second intermediate plate 10 are indirectly joined via the second end plate 15.

[0036] Providing the second end plate 15 is advantageous in improving the stability of the joint and stress transmission between one end of the adjacent first intermediate plate 9 and one end of the second intermediate plate 10, but the second end plate 15 can be provided as needed. For example, it is also possible to omit the second end plate 15 and have the adjacent first intermediate plate 9 and one end of the second intermediate plate 10 directly joined by welding or other means.

[0037] As illustrated in Figures 3 to 5, 9 and 15, the side portions of one end of a pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the side portions of one end of a pair of second intermediate plates 10 are joined via a first band plate 12 that extends in the thickness direction Z. The first band plate 12 is arranged to extend in the longitudinal direction X and the thickness direction Z.

[0038] As illustrated in Figure 9, in this embodiment, the width dimension (dimension in the thickness direction Z) of one end (wide portion 9w) of the first intermediate plate 9 is set to be narrower than the width dimension of one end (wide portion 10w) of the second intermediate plate 10 by the thickness of the first band plate 12. The first band plate 12 is positioned between the one ends of the pair of second intermediate plates 10, in contact with the side surface (end surface in the width direction Y) of one end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9. The gap between the first band plate 12 and the one ends of the pair of second intermediate plates 10 is then welded, thereby joining the side portions of the one ends of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the one ends of the pair of second intermediate plates 10 via the first band plate 12.

[0039] First band plates 12 are arranged on one side and the other side of the core plate 7 in the width direction Y. That is, one end of a pair of first intermediate plates 9 and one end of a pair of second intermediate plates 10 are joined via a pair of first band plates 12 that are spaced apart in the width direction Y. The width dimension of the wide portion 9w of the first intermediate plate 9 is set to be slightly wider than the width dimension of the core plate 7, and a gap is provided between each first band plate 12 and the core plate 7.

[0040] As illustrated in Figures 3, 6, 7, and 16, the other end of a second intermediate plate 10 adjacent to the other end of a third intermediate plate 11 in the thickness direction Z is joined directly or indirectly, respectively. In this embodiment, the other end of a pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the other end of a pair of third intermediate plates 11 are positioned approximately at the same location in the longitudinal direction X, and a third end plate 16 is provided on the other side of the other end of the second intermediate plate 10 and the other end of the third intermediate plate 11. The third end plate 16 is positioned to extend in the width direction Y and the thickness direction Z. The other end of a second intermediate plate 10 adjacent to the other end of a third intermediate plate 11 and the third end plate 16 are joined by welding in the thickness direction Z.

[0041] More specifically, grooves are formed at the other end of the second intermediate plate 10 and the other end of the third intermediate plate 11, and these grooves are welded together to join the other end of the adjacent second intermediate plate 10 and the other end of the third intermediate plate 11 to the third end plate 16. For example, by joining the other end of the second intermediate plate 10 and the other end of the third intermediate plate 11 to the third end plate 16 separately, a configuration can be achieved in which the other end of the second intermediate plate 10 and the other end of the third intermediate plate 11 are indirectly joined via the third end plate 16.

[0042] Providing the third end plate 16 is advantageous in improving the stability of the joint and stress transmission between the other end of the adjacent second intermediate plate 10 and the other end of the third intermediate plate 11, but the third end plate 16 can be provided as needed. For example, it is also possible to omit the third end plate 16 and have the other end of the adjacent second intermediate plate 10 and the other end of the third intermediate plate 11 directly joined by welding or other means.

[0043] As illustrated in Figures 3, 6, 7, 11, and 17, the sides of the other end of a pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the sides of the other end of a pair of third intermediate plates 11 are joined via a second band plate 13 that extends in the thickness direction Z. The second band plate 13 is arranged to extend in the longitudinal direction X and the thickness direction Z.

[0044] As illustrated in Figure 11, in this embodiment, the width dimension (dimension in the thickness direction Z) of the other end (wide portion 10w) of the second intermediate plate 10 is set to be narrower than the width dimension of the other end (wide portion 11w) of the third intermediate plate 11 by the thickness of the second band plate 13. The second band plate 13 is positioned between the other ends of the pair of third intermediate plates 11, in contact with the side surfaces (end faces in the width direction Y) of the other ends of the pair of second intermediate plates 10. The gap between the second band plate 13 and the other ends of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 is then welded, thereby joining the side portions of the other ends of the pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the side portions of the other ends of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 via the second band plate 13.

[0045] Second band plates 13 are provided on one side and the other side of the core plate 7 in the width direction Y. That is, one end of a pair of second intermediate plates 10 and one end of a pair of third intermediate plates 11 are joined via a pair of second band plates 13 that are spaced apart in the width direction Y. The width dimension of the wide portion 10w of the second intermediate plate 10 is set to be wider than the width dimension of the core plate 7, and a gap is provided between each second band plate 13 and the core plate 7.

[0046] As illustrated in Figures 3, 7, and 18, one end of an adjacent third intermediate plate 11 and one end of an outer plate 6a are joined directly or indirectly in the thickness direction Z. In this embodiment, one end of a pair of third intermediate plates 11 and one end of a pair of outer plates 6a are positioned approximately at the same location in the longitudinal direction X, and a ring-shaped end plate 17 is provided on one side of one end of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 and one end of the pair of outer plates 6a. The ring-shaped end plate 17 is positioned to extend in the width direction Y and the thickness direction Z. The one end of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 and one end of the pair of outer plates 6a are joined to the ring-shaped end plate 17 by welding.

[0047] More specifically, grooves are formed at one end of each of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 and each of the pair of outer plates 6a, and these grooves are welded together to join the ring-shaped end plate 17 to each of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 and each of the pair of outer plates 6a. For example, by joining each of the two ends of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 and each of the pair of outer plates 6a separately to the ring-shaped end plate 17, a configuration can be achieved in which the two ends of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 and each of the pair of outer plates 6a are indirectly joined via the ring-shaped end plate 17.

[0048] In the longitudinal direction X, one end of the pair of third intermediate plates 11, one end of the pair of outer plates 6a, and the ring-shaped end plate 17 are positioned to one side of the second end plate 15. As illustrated in Figure 8, a guide hole 17a is provided in the center of the ring-shaped end plate 17, and the core plate 7 and the pair of neck-bending reinforcing plates 2a are fitted into the guide hole 17a. A small gap of, for example, about 0.2 mm to 2 mm is provided between the guide hole 17a and the core plate 7 and the pair of neck-bending reinforcing plates 2a. In the longitudinal direction X, the other end of the pair of neck-bending reinforcing plates 2a is positioned to the other side of the other side of the ring-shaped end plate 17. The movement of one end of the core plate 7 and the neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a in the width direction Y and thickness direction Z is restricted by the guide hole 17a of the ring-shaped end plate 17, and the core plate 7 and the neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a are configured to move along the guide hole 17a in the longitudinal direction X.

[0049] As illustrated in Figures 2 and 11, side plates 6b are arranged between the ends of one side of a pair of outer plates 6a in the width direction Y and between the ends of the other side of a pair of outer plates 6a, and a rectangular tubular outer tube section 6 is formed by joining the pair of outer plates 6a and the pair of side plates 6b. The width dimension (dimension in the width direction Y) of the pair of outer plates 6a is set to be wider than the wide section 11w of the third middle plate 11. As illustrated in Figures 8 to 11, a gap is provided between the end faces in the width direction Y of the core plate 7, the pair of laminates 8, the first band plate 12 and the second band plate 13, and the inner surface of the side plates 6b.

[0050] As illustrated in Figures 4 to 7, one end of the support member 5 is directly or indirectly joined to the other end of the outer pipe section 6. The support member 5 is made of a metal such as steel. In this embodiment, the support member 5 is made of a rectangular tubular steel pipe. In this embodiment, a plate-shaped connecting plate 18 is disposed between the other end of the outer pipe section 6 and one end of the support member 5. The connecting plate 18 is oriented to extend in the width direction Y and the thickness direction Z. The other end of the outer pipe section 6 is welded to one side of the connecting plate 18, and one end of the support member 5 is welded to the other side of the connecting plate 18. That is, the other end of the outer pipe section 6 and one end of the support member 5 are indirectly joined via the connecting plate 18.

[0051] In the longitudinal direction X, the other end of the outer tube portion 6 (outer plate 6a, side plate 6b) is positioned to the other side of the other end of the first end plate 14 and the third end plate 16, and the connecting plate 18 is positioned to the other side of the first end plate 14 and the third end plate 16. As illustrated in Figures 3 and 12, in this embodiment, a guide portion 14a is provided on the other side of the first end plate 14, and the guide portion 14a is inserted through a guide hole 18a provided in the center of the connecting plate 18. In this embodiment, a pair of guide portions 14a, spaced apart in the width direction Y, are joined to the first end plate 14.

[0052] The width dimension (thickness direction Z) of the guide portion 14a is set to be the same as the width dimension of the first end plate 14. The width direction Y and thickness direction Z dimensions of the guide hole 18a of the connecting plate 18 are set to be, for example, 2 mm to 10 mm larger than the width direction Y and thickness direction Z dimensions of the first end plate 14, so that the first end plate 14, the other end of the core plate 7, and the other end (wide portion 9w) of the first intermediate plate 9 can be inserted through it. The guide portion 14a is inserted through the guide hole 18a and protrudes to the other side of the connecting plate 18, and the other side of the guide portion 14a is located inside the tube of the support material 5. The movement of the guide portion 14a in the thickness direction Z is restricted by the guide hole 18a of the connecting plate 18, and the guide portion 14a is configured to move in the longitudinal direction X along the guide hole 18a.

[0053] As illustrated in Figures 3 and 10, in this embodiment, a rib spacer 19 is provided that restrains a predetermined range of the central portion in the longitudinal direction X of the core plate 7 and the pair of laminates 8 relative to the outer tube 6. The rib spacer 19 is disposed inside the tube of the outer tube 6. In this embodiment, the rib spacer 19 suppresses the relative movement in the width direction Y of the core plate 7 and the narrow portions 9n, 10, 11n of the first to third intermediate plate materials 9, 10, 11 relative to the outer tube 6. As illustrated in Figure 3, in this embodiment, a plurality of rib spacers 19 are arranged at intervals from each other in the region between the first band plate 12 and the second band plate 13 in the longitudinal direction X inside the tube of the outer tube 6. The distance between the rib spacers 19 in the longitudinal direction X should be set to, for example, 200 mm or more and 400 mm or less.

[0054] As illustrated in Figure 10, the rib spacers 19 extend in the width direction Y and the thickness direction Z. When viewed from the longitudinal direction X, the rib spacers 19 are fitted between the inner surface of the outer tube 6 and the core plate 7 and the laminate 8 (first to third intermediate plate materials 9, 10, 11) to fill the gap between the inner surface of the outer tube 6 and the core plate 7 and the laminate 8. When viewed from the longitudinal direction X, the rib spacers 19 are arranged on both sides of the core plate 7 and the laminate 8 in the width direction Y, and each rib spacer 19 is joined to a pair of outer plates 6a by welding. A small gap of, for example, about 0.5 mm to 3 mm is provided between the inner surfaces of opposing rib spacers 19 and the sides of the core plate 7 and the laminate 8.

[0055] As illustrated in Figure 3, the neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a in this embodiment is configured to also function as a first displacement limiting member that limits the relative displacement of the first intermediate plate 9 to one side in the longitudinal direction X with respect to the core plate 7 to a preset limit displacement amount. In other words, the first displacement limiting member (neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a) is a member that limits the tensile strain of the first intermediate plate 9 to a preset range.

[0056] As illustrated in Figures 3 and 8, in this embodiment, a stopper 20 is provided as a second displacement limiting member that limits the relative displacement of the second intermediate plate 10 to one side in the longitudinal direction X relative to the third intermediate plate 11 to a preset limit displacement amount. In other words, the second displacement limiting member (stopper 20) is a member that limits the tensile strain of the second intermediate plate 10 to a preset range. A stopper 20 is joined to the inner surface of one end of each of the pair of third intermediate plates 11. The stopper 20 is positioned on one side of the second end plate 15. When no stress is acting on the vibration damping structure 1, the distance between the stopper 20 and the second end plate 15 in the longitudinal direction X is set, for example, to 10 mm or more and 100 mm or less.

[0057] As illustrated in Figure 3, the connecting plate 18 in this embodiment functions as a third displacement limiting member that limits the relative displacement of the third intermediate plate 11 to the other side in the longitudinal direction X relative to the outer pipe portion 6 to a preset limit displacement amount. In other words, the third displacement limiting member (connecting plate 18) is a member that limits the tensile strain of the third intermediate plate 11 to a preset range. When no stress is acting on the vibration damping structure 1, the distance between the third displacement limiting member (connecting plate 18) and the third end plate 16 in the longitudinal direction X is set, for example, to 10 mm or more and 100 mm or less.

[0058] As in this embodiment, configuring the connecting plate 18 to function as a third displacement limiting member is advantageous for simplifying the structure of the vibration damping structure 1. However, for example, a third displacement limiting member can also be provided separately from the connecting plate 18. In that case, a third displacement limiting member protruding in the width direction Y is provided on the inner surface of the outer plate 6a or side plate 6b, on one side of the connecting plate 18 and on the other side of the third end plate 16.

[0059] In this vibration-damping structure 1, the energy transmitted from the reinforced structure 30 to the vibration-damping structure 1 due to an earthquake is absorbed mainly by the deformation of the core plate 7, the first to third intermediate plates 9 to 11, and the outer tube section 6. Therefore, it is preferable that the core plate 7, the first to third intermediate plates 9 to 11, and the outer tube section 6 be formed from structural steel for buildings (e.g., SN400B or SN490B), low yield-point steel for buildings (e.g., LY100 or LY225), or high-performance steel for buildings (e.g., TMCP385 or SA440) so that they function as dampers that absorb energy. It is preferable that the other components of the vibration-damping structure 1 be formed from rolled steel for buildings (e.g., SN400B, SN490B, SM490A, etc.). The first to third intermediate plates 9 to 11 should be formed from steel with a relatively lower yield point compared to the other components. The welding material should preferably be a metal material of the same quality as each component that makes up the vibration-damping structure 1.

[0060] Next, an example of a manufacturing method for this vibration-damping structure 1 will be described.

[0061] The connecting portion 2 on one side, the connecting portion 3 on the other side, the support member 5, the core plate 7, and the first to third intermediate plate members 9 to 11 are each manufactured. In this embodiment, the steel plates constituting the first to third intermediate plate members 9 to 11 are cut to form the narrow portions 9n to 11n, respectively. The other components constituting the vibration damping structure 1 are also manufactured.

[0062] As illustrated in Figure 13, the core plate 7 is sandwiched between a pair of first intermediate plates 9, and the other end of the core plate 7 and the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 are joined directly or indirectly. In this embodiment, the first end plate 14 is placed on the other side of the other end of the core plate 7 and the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9, and the other end of the core plate 7 and the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 are joined to the first end plate 14 by welding. In this embodiment, a pair of guide portions 14a are joined to the other side of the first end plate 14.

[0063] Next, as illustrated in Figure 14, the pair of first intermediate plates 9 are sandwiched between the pair of second intermediate plates 10, and one end of the first intermediate plate 9 and one end of the second intermediate plate 10 adjacent to each other in the thickness direction Z are joined directly or indirectly. In this embodiment, a second end plate 15 is placed on one side of the adjacent end of the first intermediate plate 9 and one end of the second intermediate plate 10, and the adjacent end of the first intermediate plate 9 and one end of the second intermediate plate 10 and the second end plate 15 are joined by welding.

[0064] Subsequently, as illustrated in Figure 15, the side portions of one end of a pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the side portions of one end of a pair of second intermediate plates 10 are joined via a first band plate 12 extending in the thickness direction Z. Then, as illustrated in Figure 16, with the pair of second intermediate plates 10 sandwiched between a pair of third intermediate plates 11, the other end of adjacent second intermediate plates 10 and the other end of the third intermediate plate 11 are joined directly or indirectly in the thickness direction Z. In this embodiment, a third end plate 16 is placed on the other side of the other end of adjacent second intermediate plates 10 and the other end of adjacent third intermediate plates 11, and the other end of adjacent second intermediate plates 10 and the other end of adjacent third intermediate plates 11 and the third end plate 16 are joined by welding. In this embodiment, a stopper 20 is joined to one end of each of the pair of third intermediate plates 11.

[0065] Subsequently, as illustrated in Figure 17, the sides of the other ends of the pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the sides of the other ends of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 are joined via a second band plate 13 extending in the thickness direction Z to form a pair of laminates 8. Then, as illustrated in Figure 18, with the pair of third intermediate plates 11 sandwiched between the pair of outer plates 6a, one end of adjacent third intermediate plates 11 and one end of the outer plate 6a are joined directly or indirectly in the thickness direction Z.

[0066] In this embodiment, the ring-shaped end plate 17 is fitted onto the core plate 7 from one side, and the end of one side of the core plate 7 is inserted through the guide hole 17a of the ring-shaped end plate 17. The ring-shaped end plate 17 is then positioned on one side of the end of one side of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 and the end of one side of the pair of outer plates 6a. The end of one side of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 and the end of one side of the pair of outer plates 6a are then joined to the ring-shaped end plate 17 by welding.

[0067] In this embodiment, the pair of neck-bending reinforcing plates 2a provided on the connecting portion 2 on one side are then inserted through the guide holes 17a of the ring-shaped end plate 17 from one side of the ring-shaped end plate 17, so that one end of the core plate 7 is sandwiched between the pair of neck-bending reinforcing plates 2a. The one end of the core plate 7 and the pair of neck-bending reinforcing plates 2a are then joined by welding, and the one end of the core plate 7 and the connecting portion 2 on one side are joined by welding or the like. In this embodiment, a plurality of rib spacers 19 are further arranged on both the outer sides of the core plate 7 and the pair of laminates 8 in the width direction Y, and each rib spacer 19 is joined to the inner surface of the pair of outer plates 6a by welding. In this embodiment, the connecting plate 18 is then fitted onto the pair of guide portions 14a from the other side of the pair of guide portions 14a, so that the pair of guide portions 14a are inserted through the guide holes 18a of the connecting plate 18, and the connecting plate 18 is positioned on the other side of the other end of the outer tube portion 6. Furthermore, a support member 5 is placed on the other side of the connecting plate 18, and a pair of guide portions 14a are placed inside the pipe of the support member 5.

[0068] Subsequently, as illustrated in Figure 19, a pair of side plates 6b are placed on both the outer sides in the width direction Y of the core plate 7 and the pair of laminates 8, and adjacent outer plates 6a and side plates 6b are joined by welding to form the outer tube section 6. Then, the other end of the outer tube section 6 is joined to the connecting plate 18 by welding. The damper section 4 is then manufactured through the above steps.

[0069] Next, one end of the support member 5 is joined directly or indirectly to the other end of the outer tube portion 6. In this embodiment, one end of the support member 5 is joined to the other side of the connecting plate 18, thereby indirectly joining one end of the support member 5 to the other end of the outer tube portion 6. Then, as illustrated in Figure 2, the other side connecting portion 3 is connected to the other side of the support member 5, and the one side connecting portion 2 is connected to one end of the core plate 7. With these steps, the manufacturing of the vibration damping structure 1 is completed.

[0070] As described above, if the joining of the core plate 7, the pair of first intermediate plates 9, the pair of second intermediate plates 10, the pair of third intermediate plates 11, and the pair of outer plates 6a that constitute the damper section 4 is performed in stages from the inside to the outside, the welding of each component becomes easier. Furthermore, if the outer tube section 6 that constitutes the damper section 4 is formed by joining the pair of outer plates 6a and the pair of side plates 6b, the joining of each component placed inside the tube of the outer tube section 6 becomes easier, and the vibration damping structure 1 can be manufactured simply and efficiently.

[0071] The above-described method for manufacturing the vibration-damping structure 1 is merely one example of an efficient work procedure, and the vibration-damping structure 1 can also be manufactured using a different procedure. In particular, the timing of the operations of connecting one end of the core plate 7 to one connecting portion 2, directly or indirectly joining one end of the support member 5 to the other end of the outer tube portion 6, and connecting the other connecting portion 3 to the other end of the support member 5 is not particularly limited and can be performed at a predetermined (arbitrary) timing, taking into consideration interference with other members, etc. That is, the three operations described above can also be performed at timings different from the example of the manufacturing method illustrated above.

[0072] When installing the vibration damping structure 1 to the reinforced structure 30, one of the connecting parts 2 is fixed to one of the connecting parts 33a of the reinforced structure 30 using fasteners such as bolts, and the other connecting part 3 is fixed to the other connecting part 33b of the reinforced structure 30 using fasteners such as bolts. As a result, the vibration damping structure 1 is extended between the two connecting parts 33a and 33b of the reinforced structure 30.

[0073] When an earthquake occurs, the seismic energy transmitted to the reinforced structure 30 is transmitted from one connected section 33a to the core plate 7 via one connected section 2, and from the other connected section 33b to the support member 5 via the other connected section 3. As a result, a stress (axial force) in the longitudinal direction X acts on the vibration-damping structure 1.

[0074] The damper section 4 of the vibration-damping structure 1 has a structure in which a core plate 7, a pair of first intermediate plates 9, a pair of second intermediate plates 10, a pair of third intermediate plates 11, and a pair of outer plates 6a are connected in a bellows-like manner, reciprocating multiple times in the longitudinal direction X (folded multiple times). As a result, compressive and tensile forces are alternately applied to adjacent members in the thickness direction Z, with the folded portion (the joint portion between the plates) as the boundary.

[0075] Specifically, when a compressive force acts on the core plate 7 via the connecting part 2 on one side, and a compressive force acts on the outer tube section 6 (outer plate 6a) via the connecting part 3 and support material 5 on the other side, a compressive force acts on the core plate 7 and a pair of outer plates 6a. Then, a tensile force acts on the pair of first intermediate plates 9, a compressive force acts on the pair of second intermediate plates 10, and a tensile force acts on the pair of third intermediate plates 11. Conversely, when a tensile force acts on the core plate 7 via the connecting part 2 on one side, and a tensile force acts on the outer tube section 6 (outer plate 6a) via the connecting part 3 and support material 5 on the other side, a tensile force acts on the core plate 7 and a tensile force acts on the outer tube section 6. Then, a compressive force acts on the pair of first intermediate plates 9, a tensile force acts on the pair of second intermediate plates 10, and a compressive force acts on the pair of third intermediate plates 11.

[0076] The stresses (compressive and tensile forces) acting on the core plate 7, the pair of first intermediate plates 9, the pair of second intermediate plates 10, the pair of third intermediate plates 11, and the pair of outer plates 6a are absorbed by the deformation of the core plate 7, the pair of first intermediate plates 9, the pair of second intermediate plates 10, the pair of third intermediate plates 11, and the outer tube section 6, respectively. By absorbing the energy transmitted from the reinforced structure 30 due to an earthquake through the vibration control structure 1 (mainly the damper section 4), the load on the reinforced structure 30 is reduced.

[0077] More specifically, as illustrated in Figure 3, in the vibration damping structure 1 of this embodiment, when no stress (compressive or tensile force) is acting on the vibration damping structure 1, the neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a, which functions as the first displacement limiting member, is positioned at a predetermined distance to one side of one end of the first intermediate plate 9 (in this embodiment, one end of the second end plate 15). The stopper 20, which functions as the second displacement limiting member, is positioned at a predetermined distance to one side of one end of the second intermediate plate 10 (in this embodiment, one end of the second end plate 15). The connecting plate 18, which functions as the third displacement limiting member, is positioned at a predetermined distance to the other side of the other end of the third intermediate plate 11 (in this embodiment, the other end of the third end plate 16).

[0078] When stress is applied to the vibration damping structure 1 in a tensile direction, tensile forces act on the core plate 7, the pair of second intermediate plates 10, and the outer tube section 6, respectively, and compressive forces act on the pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11, respectively, causing each plate constituting the damper section 4 to expand and contract in the longitudinal direction X. Furthermore, a tensile force acts on the core plate 7 to one side, and a tensile force acts on the outer tube section 6 (outer plate 6a) to the other side, causing the second end plate 15 (the joint between one end of the adjacent first intermediate plate 9 and one end of the second intermediate plate 10) to be displaced relatively to one side with respect to one end of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 joined to the outer tube section 6 (pair of outer plates 6a).

[0079] Before the second end plate 15 reaches the stopper 20 (second displacement limiting member), the stresses acting on the pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the pair of second intermediate plates 10 are transmitted and distributed to the core plate 7 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11, respectively, so that the pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the pair of second intermediate plates 10 can be displaced relatively to one side with respect to one end of the outer tube section 6 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11. In this state, the stress is distributed fairly evenly across each plate constituting the damper section, resulting in a state where roughly the same magnitude of stress acts on each plate constituting the damper section. Therefore, a phenomenon occurs where the deformation of the core plate 7, the pair of second intermediate plates 10, and the outer tube section 6, which are under tensile force, is greater than the deformation of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11, which are under compressive force.

[0080] When a tensile force exceeding a certain level acts on the vibration-damping structure 1, and the pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the pair of second intermediate plates 10 are displaced relative to one end of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 by a predetermined limiting displacement amount (a predetermined distance) relative to the outer tube section 6, the second end plate 15 comes into contact with the stopper 20 (second displacement limiting member), and the relative displacement of the pair of second intermediate plates 10 relative to one end of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 relative to the outer tube section 6 is restricted. In other words, the tensile strain of the second intermediate plate 10 and the compressive strain of the third intermediate plate 11 are restricted by the second displacement limiting member (stopper 20).

[0081] In this state, the pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the pair of second intermediate plates 10 do not displace relative to one side, preventing the tensile plastic deformation of the pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the compression plastic deformation of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 from progressing. Instead, the compression plastic deformation of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 progresses. As a result, the deformation of the nine layers of plates constituting the damper section 4 is more evenly distributed than before the second end plate 15 reached the stopper 20, and the difference in the amount of expansion and contraction of each plate in the longitudinal direction X becomes smaller.

[0082] When a compressive stress is applied to the vibration damping structure 1, compressive forces act on the core plate 7, the pair of second intermediate plates 10, and the pair of outer plates 6a, respectively, and tensile forces act on the pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11, respectively. As a result, each plate constituting the damper section 4 expands and contracts in the longitudinal direction X. Furthermore, a compressive force acts on the core plate 7 to the other side, and a compressive force acts on the outer tube section 6 (outer plate 6a) to one side. As a result, the third end plate 16 (the joint between the other end of adjacent second intermediate plates 10 and the other end of the third intermediate plate 11) is displaced relatively to the other side with respect to the outer tube section 6, and the second end plate 15 (the joint between the one end of adjacent second intermediate plates 10 and the one end of the first intermediate plate 9) is displaced relatively to one side with respect to the core plate 7.

[0083] Before the third end plate 16 reaches the connecting plate 18 (third displacement limiting member), the stresses acting on the pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11 are transmitted and distributed to the pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the pair of outer plates 6a, respectively, so that the pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11 can be displaced relative to the outer tube section 6 to the other side. In this state, the stress is distributed almost uniformly to each plate constituting the damper section 4, so that each plate constituting the damper section 4 is subjected to roughly the same magnitude of stress. Therefore, a phenomenon occurs in which the deformation of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11, which are subjected to tensile force, is greater than the deformation of the core plate 7, the pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the outer tube section 6, which are subjected to compressive force.

[0084] When a compressive force exceeding a certain level is applied to the vibration damping structure 1, and the pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11 are displaced relative to the outer pipe section 6 by a predetermined limiting displacement amount (a predetermined distance), the third end plate 16 comes into contact with the connecting plate 18 (third displacement limiting member), and the relative displacement of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 relative to the outer pipe section 6 to the other side is restricted. In other words, the tensile strain of the third intermediate plates 11 and the compressive strain of the outer steel pipe 6 are restricted by the third displacement limiting member (connecting plate 18).

[0085] In this state, the pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11 do not displace relative to each other to the other side, preventing the tensile plastic deformation of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 from progressing. Instead, the compressive plastic deformation of the pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the tensile plastic deformation of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 progress. As a result, the deformation of the nine layers of plates constituting the damper section 4 is distributed more evenly than before the third end plate 16 reached the connecting plate 18, and the difference in the amount of expansion and contraction of each plate in the longitudinal direction X becomes smaller.

[0086] Before the second end plate 15 reaches the neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a (first displacement limiting member), the stresses acting on the pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11 are transmitted and distributed to the pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the pair of outer plates 6a, respectively, so that the pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11 can be displaced relative to one side with respect to the core plate 7. In this state, the stress is distributed fairly evenly across each plate constituting the damper section 4, resulting in a state where roughly the same magnitude of stress acts on each plate constituting the damper section 4. Therefore, the deformation of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11, which are subjected to tensile force, becomes greater than the deformation of the core plate 7, the pair of second intermediate plates 10, and the outer tube section 6, which are subjected to compressive force.

[0087] When a compressive force exceeding a certain level is applied to the vibration-damping structure 1, and the pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11 are displaced relative to the core plate 7 by a predetermined limiting displacement (a predetermined distance), the second end plate 15 comes into contact with the neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a (first displacement limiting member), and the relative displacement of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 relative to the core plate 7 to one side is restricted. In other words, the tensile strain of the first intermediate plates 9 and the compressive strain of the core plate 7 are restricted by the first displacement limiting member (neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a).

[0088] In this state, the pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the pair of first intermediate plates 9 do not displace relative to one side, preventing the tensile plastic deformation of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 from progressing. Instead, the pair of second intermediate plates 10 expand. As a result, the deformation of the nine layers of plates constituting the damper section 4 is distributed more evenly than before the second end plate 15 reached the neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a, and the difference in the amount of expansion and contraction of each plate in the longitudinal direction X becomes smaller.

[0089] As described above, the vibration damping structure 1 has a structure in which the core plate 7, a pair of first intermediate plates 9, a pair of second intermediate plates 10, a pair of third intermediate plates 11, and a pair of outer plates 6a that constitute the damper section 4 are connected in a bellows-like manner, reciprocating (folded multiple times) in the longitudinal direction X. This makes it possible to make the deformable member length of the vibration damping structure 1, which absorbs energy transmitted from the reinforced structure 30 to the vibration damping structure 1 due to an earthquake, longer than the distance between the two connection points 33a and 33b of the reinforced structure 30 to which the vibration damping structure 1 is connected. Therefore, compared to conventional braces that connect the two connection points 33a and 33b of the reinforced structure 30 with a single axial member, designers can design the deformable member length and the rigidity of the vibration damping structure 1 more freely according to the vibration damping performance required of the vibration damping structure 1.

[0090] This vibration-damping structure 1 is further configured such that the side portions of one end of a pair of first intermediate plates 9 and the side portions of one end of a pair of second intermediate plates 10 are joined via a first band plate 12 that extends in the thickness direction, and the side portions of the other end of a pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the side portions of the other end of a pair of third intermediate plates 11 are joined via a second band plate 13 that extends in the thickness direction. As a result, the stress transmitted from the reinforced structure 30 to the core plate 7 and the outer pipe section 6 (a pair of outer plates 6a) due to an earthquake can be evenly distributed to the pair of first intermediate plates 9, the pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the pair of third intermediate plates 11 via the first band plate 12 and the second band plate 13, making it less likely for stress to concentrate on some of the plates that make up the damper section 4. Therefore, this vibration-damping structure 1 can more effectively absorb the energy transmitted from the reinforced structure 30 due to an earthquake.

[0091] Furthermore, the presence of the first band plate 12 makes it less likely for stress to concentrate at the joint (welded area) between one end of an adjacent first intermediate plate 9 and one end of a adjacent second intermediate plate 10. The presence of the second band plate 13 makes it less likely for stress to concentrate at the joint (welded area) between the other end of an adjacent second intermediate plate 10 and the other end of a adjacent third intermediate plate 11. In addition, the pair of first band plates 12 restrain the displacement in the width direction Y of one end of a pair of first intermediate plates 9 and one end of a pair of second intermediate plates 10, which is more advantageous in suppressing buckling of a pair of first intermediate plates 9 and a pair of second intermediate plates 10. The pair of second band plates 13 restrain the displacement in the width direction Y of the other end of a pair of second intermediate plates 10 and the other end of a pair of third intermediate plates 11, which is more advantageous in suppressing buckling of a pair of second intermediate plates 10 and a pair of third intermediate plates 11. Therefore, the inclusion of the first band plate 12 and the second band plate 13 is advantageous in enhancing the repeatability of the vibration damping structure 1, which maintains its energy absorption performance over a long period of time.

[0092] Furthermore, in this vibration damping structure 1, the outer tube section 6 restrains the displacement of the core plate 7, the pair of first intermediate plates 9, the pair of second intermediate plates 10, and the pair of third intermediate plates 11 in the width direction Y and the thickness direction Z, thereby suppressing buckling of each plate. As a result, each plate constituting the damper section 4 can expand and contract in a balanced manner in the longitudinal direction X, making the damper section 4 less prone to buckling. This configuration is therefore very advantageous for improving the energy absorption performance and the aforementioned repeatability of the vibration damping structure 1.

[0093] Furthermore, in this vibration damping structure 1, even if any of the plates constituting the damper section 4 reaches its yield point, the nine layers of plates constituting the damper section 4 remain connected in a bellows-like manner. Therefore, even after any of the plates constituting the damper section 4 reaches its yield point, a certain level of energy absorption performance can be maintained as long as the damper section 4 does not completely break. For this reason, the vibration damping structure 1 has excellent repeatability.

[0094] The narrow sections 9n, 10n, and 11n provided on the first to third intermediate plates 9, 10, and 11 experience relatively higher stress levels than the wide sections 9w, 10w, and 11w of the first to third intermediate plates 9, 10, and 11, which are located at one or the other end of those sections. Therefore, providing narrow sections 9n, 10n, and 11n on at least one of the first to third intermediate plates 9, 10, and 11 that constitute the pair of laminated bodies 8 makes it easier for stress transmitted from the reinforced structure 30 to the vibration-damping structure 1 during an earthquake to concentrate in the narrow sections 9n, 10n, and 11n. This deformation of the narrow sections 9n, 10n, and 11n is advantageous for effectively absorbing the energy transmitted from the reinforced structure 30.

[0095] Furthermore, by providing narrow sections 9n, 10n, and 11n on the first to third intermediate plates 9, 10, and 11, the stress transmitted from the reinforced structure 30 due to an earthquake is less likely to concentrate at the joints between the plates constituting the damper section 4, and more likely to concentrate at the narrow sections 9n, 10n, and 11n. Therefore, the risk of the joints between the plates constituting the damper section 4 failing before each plate constituting the damper section 4, which absorbs the energy transmitted from the reinforced structure 30, yields can be reduced. For this reason, a configuration in which narrow sections 9n, 10n, and 11n are provided on at least one of the intermediate plates 9, 10, and 11 constituting the pair of laminated bodies 8 is more advantageous for improving the repeatability performance that maintains the energy absorption performance of the vibration-damping structure 1 over a long period of time. A configuration in which narrow sections 9n, 10n, and 11n are provided on all of the intermediate plates 9, 10, and 11 constituting the pair of laminated bodies 8 is more advantageous for improving the repeatability performance of the vibration-damping structure 1.

[0096] If the width of the narrow section 9n (10n, 11n) provided on the intermediate plate 9 (10, 11) is set to, for example, 0.2 to 0.9 times, more preferably 0.2 to 0.8 times, and even more preferably 0.2 to 0.7 times, the width of the wide section 9w (10w, 11w), the energy absorption performance of the narrow section 9n (10n, 11n) of the intermediate plate 9 (10, 11) is ensured to be high, while a structure is created in which stress tends to concentrate in the narrow section 9n (10n, 11n) of the intermediate plate 9 (10, 11). Therefore, this is advantageous for improving the repeatability of the vibration damping structure 1. Note that the narrow sections 9n, 10n, and 11n can be arbitrarily provided on the first to third intermediate plates 9, 10, and 11 as needed.

[0097] As in this embodiment, when the vibration damping structure 1 has a rib spacer 19 that restrains a predetermined range of the central portion in the longitudinal direction X of the core plate 7 and the pair of laminates 8 with respect to the outer tube portion 6, it is more advantageous to suppress buckling of the core plate 7 and the pair of laminates 8 by the rib spacer 19. Therefore, it is advantageous to improve the repeatability of the vibration damping structure 1. The number of rib spacers 19 is not particularly limited, but arranging multiple rib spacers 19 at intervals from each other in the longitudinal direction X is more advantageous to improve the repeatability of the vibration damping structure 1.

[0098] As in this embodiment, by providing a ring-shaped end plate 17 on one side of one end of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 and one end of the pair of outer plates 6a, the ends of the pair of third intermediate plates 11 and one end of the pair of outer plates 6a can be joined in a more stable state. By providing the ring-shaped end plate 17, stress is more easily transmitted between the pair of third intermediate plates 11 and the pair of outer plates 6a. In addition, by providing the ring-shaped end plate 17, stress is transmitted in a balanced manner between the pair of third intermediate plates 11 and the outer tube section 6 (the pair of outer plates 6a). Therefore, providing the ring-shaped end plate 17 is advantageous for improving the energy absorption performance and repeatability of the vibration damping structure 1.

[0099] Furthermore, by providing guide holes 17a in the ring-shaped end plate 17 that restrict the movement of the core plate 7 in at least one of the width direction Y or thickness direction Z, it is possible to suppress the displacement of the core plate 7 relative to the outer tube 6 when stress acts on the core plate 7 and the core plate 7 expands or contracts. Therefore, it is advantageous to suppress the deformation of the core plate 7 in an unintended direction and to prevent unintended loads from being applied to the joints between the plates constituting the damper 4.

[0100] The ring-shaped end plates 17 can be provided as needed. For example, instead of providing the ring-shaped end plates 17, the configuration can be such that one end of adjacent third intermediate plates 11 and one end of outer plate 6a are directly joined by welding or other means.

[0101] As in this embodiment, by interposing a connecting plate 18 between the other end of the outer tube section 6 and one end of the support member 5, the other end of the outer tube section 6 and one end of the support member 5 can be joined in a stable manner. By providing the connecting plate 18, stress is more easily transmitted between the outer tube section 6 (a pair of outer plates 6a) and the support member 5. In addition, by providing the connecting plate 18, stress is transmitted in a balanced manner between the outer tube section 6 (a pair of outer plates 6a) and the support member 5. Therefore, providing the connecting plate 18 is advantageous for improving the energy absorption performance and repeatability of the vibration damping structure 1.

[0102] Furthermore, by providing a guide portion 14a on the first end plate 14 and a guide hole 18a on the connecting plate 18 that restricts the movement of the guide portion 14a in at least one of the width direction Y or thickness direction Z, it is possible to suppress misalignment of the other end of the core plate 7 and the other end of the pair of first intermediate plates 9 relative to the outer tube portion 6 when the core plate 7 and the pair of first intermediate plates 9 expand and contract under stress. Therefore, it is advantageous to suppress deformation of the core plate 7 and the pair of first intermediate plates 9 in unintended directions, and to suppress unintended loads being applied to the joints between the plates constituting the damper portion 4.

[0103] The connecting plate 18 can be provided as needed. For example, the other end of the outer pipe section 6 and one end of the support material 5 can be directly joined by welding or other means without providing the connecting plate 18.

[0104] By providing a neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a at one end of the core plate 7, the neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a can suppress neck bending (buckling) at one end of the core plate 7. Therefore, providing a neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a is advantageous for improving the repeated performance of the vibration-damping structure 1.

[0105] As in this embodiment, by having a first displacement limiting member (in this embodiment, a neck-bending reinforcing plate 2a) that limits the relative displacement of the first intermediate plate 9 to one side with respect to the core plate 7 to a preset limit displacement, when a stress above a certain level acts on the vibration-damping structure 1, the first displacement limiting member restricts the relative displacement of the first intermediate plate 9 to one side with respect to the core plate 7, thereby distributing the deformation of the nine layers of plates constituting the damper section 4 in a balanced manner. Therefore, the risk of excessive deformation concentrating on some of the plates constituting the damper section 4 is reduced, and the amount of plastic deformation of the nine layers of plates constituting the damper section 4 is equalized, improving the energy absorption efficiency. For this reason, providing the first displacement limiting member to the vibration-damping structure 1 is more advantageous for effectively demonstrating the energy absorption performance of the damper section 4, and is even more advantageous for improving the energy absorption performance and repeatability of the vibration-damping structure 1.

[0106] As in this embodiment, by having a second displacement limiting member (stopper 20 in this embodiment) that limits the relative displacement of the second intermediate plate 10 to one side with respect to the third intermediate plate 11 to a preset limit displacement, when a stress above a certain level acts on the vibration damping structure 1, the second displacement limiting member restricts the relative displacement of the second intermediate plate 10 to one side with respect to the third intermediate plate 11, thereby distributing the deformation of the nine layers of plates constituting the damper section 4 in a balanced manner. Therefore, the risk of excessive deformation concentrating on some of the plates constituting the damper section 4 is reduced, and the amount of plastic deformation of the nine layers of plates constituting the damper section 4 is equalized, improving the energy absorption efficiency. For this reason, providing a second displacement limiting member to the vibration damping structure 1 is more advantageous for effectively demonstrating the energy absorption performance of the damper section 4, and is even more advantageous for improving the energy absorption performance and repeatability of the vibration damping structure 1.

[0107] As in this embodiment, by having a third displacement limiting member (connecting plate 18 in this embodiment) that limits the relative displacement of the third intermediate plate 11 to the other side with respect to the outer pipe 6 to a preset limit displacement, when a stress above a certain level acts on the vibration damping structure 1, the third displacement limiting member restricts the relative displacement of the third intermediate plate 11 to one side with respect to the outer pipe 6, thereby distributing the deformation of the nine layers of plates constituting the damper section 4 in a balanced manner. Therefore, the risk of excessive deformation concentrating on some of the plates constituting the damper section 4 is reduced, and the amount of plastic deformation of the nine layers of plates constituting the damper section 4 is equalized, improving the energy absorption efficiency. For this reason, providing a third displacement limiting member to the vibration damping structure 1 is more advantageous for effectively demonstrating the energy absorption performance of the damper section 4, and is even more advantageous for improving the energy absorption performance and repeatability of the vibration damping structure 1.

[0108] In this vibration damping structure 1, for example, a lubricant can be applied to the surface of each plate constituting the damper section 4. Applying a lubricant reduces friction between the plates constituting the damper section 4, thereby suppressing the transmission of unintended stresses between adjacent plates due to friction. Therefore, applying a lubricant is advantageous in improving the energy absorption performance and repeatability of the vibration damping structure 1.

[0109] While it is preferable to join the members constituting the vibration damping structure 1 by welding, other joining methods such as fasteners like bolts or adhesives can also be employed. Furthermore, for example, the first, second, and third displacement limiting members are not limited to plate-shaped members, but can also be composed of other members such as rod-shaped members or block bodies.

[0110] Figure 1 illustrates a case where one end of the vibration damping structure 1 is connected to the connection target on the upper left side of the page, and the other end of the vibration damping structure 1 is connected to the connection target on the lower right side of the page. However, the vibration damping structure 1 can also be installed in the reverse direction. That is, the connection target on the upper left side of the page can be designated as the other connection target 33b, and the connection target on the lower right side of the page can be designated as one connection target 33a. In this case, the other end of the vibration damping structure 1 can be connected to the connection target 33b on the upper left side of the page, and one end of the vibration damping structure 1 can be connected to the connection target 33a on the lower right side of the page.

[0111] Furthermore, the vibration damping structure 1 is not limited to the reinforced structure 30 composed of columns 31 and beams 32, but can be used for various other reinforced structures 30. Specifically, for example, the vibration damping structure 1 can be extended between bridge piers and bridge girders to improve the seismic performance of a bridge. [Explanation of Symbols]
