Abstract

A process for the extraction and purification of laminin from human placenta that retains the ability to acid-polymerize to produce polylaminin is described. Also described are the acid-polymerization process for the purified laminin, the use of the purified laminin in the manufacture of polylaminin pharmaceutical compositions, and kits for the extemporaneous preparation of the compositions, which are suitable for the treatment of central nervous system injuries, primarily spinal cord injuries.
